  • Old video I made back in 2013 but never posted. I sure had a good time flying sailplanes and doing acrobatics for someone in High School! Feel free to comment if you want to learn more about flying sailplanes.

    i flew a lot of planes as a passenger, but flying my dads DG 1000 since i made my glider license is like a dream come true ! In my opinion there´s nothing better than flying motorless ! i love soaring for hours and getting some high !

    The Ask21 is one amazing Glider, I'm learning in it and watched an instructor do a little aerobatic display last week. It was awesome

    I have all the ratings short of ATP and the one I cherish most is my Glider rating that I got in Colorado Springs! I have a few hundred hours in the Grob 102. Fun times and a few five hour flights. Great photography in your video...

    Looks to be very fun. I often fly over Minden, Nevada, USA. It's an enormously busy glider operation and some of the altitude and endurance records have been set over the years by gliders operating out of KMEV. Only a portion of them have transponders (although all will require them by January 1st, or at least, ADS-B). Fortunately, I haven't run into any of them so far.

      I would love to fly out there! You should check out the gliders if you ever land near there!

      Gliders are exempt from that regulation, however many glider owners equip their gliders with transponders and ADS-B to be more easily seen

    holy crap, 1:40 is that a loop in an unpowered glider?

    • @joshbutts6092

      youll be surprised, loops are fairly easy in a glider

      This is all very authentic footage - I used to fly gliders and most are rated fully aerobatic ... loops are easy ... the roll in this video is much harder to do with those long wingspans ... get out and try sailplanes - super-fun!

    1:06 had to playback several times - thought it was dude's selfie stick.... 🤣
    Then I thought the glider was falling apart....😨
    Then it finally dawned on me - it was the tow rope....🤦‍♂️

    I have always wondered, why are the pilots in BACK?

    • @TheFlyingJanner
      @TheFlyingJanner Рік тому

      The trainee or passenger is up front for a much better view. If you fly them solo, you usually do it up front.

      The cable connected to the tow plane. When the glider reaches the asked for hight the tow pilot signals by rocking the wings. And so you know to disconnect the cable and finally soar.

    Loose cell phones and water bottles able to jam controls not good! Selfie sticks not held properly, using the canopy window cutout for bracing, could lead to an expensive canopy cracking or worse.
