As a Chinese, I've eaten mainly two breeds of dogs. First and foremost, hot dogs, usually with sauce. This is the main breed. Second one, chilli dogs, no sauce! If there was a third breed, it was cheese dogs which is just like chilli dogs but with cheese. And again, no sauce on that one.
So many philosophical views on the morality of animals, but none of them ever comes to a conclusion that eating dog specifically is immoral. I personally go with the view “foods are foods, pets are pets.” Though it’s not a very good or complete argument.
I lived in Spain and it was well known that gypsies would eat dog too. In the south US, some folks eat birds like crow. It seems like most countries have people that will eat any animal…
When I was in elementary school, our class had a potluck and my mom made eggrolls for me to bring to class. One kid was like, "I'm not going to eat that because I know you used dog meat". I said, "Yeah and its your dog too". He cried. Lol.
1988 Seoul Olympics foreign athletes commented that " we are so appalled that you people eat dogs meat. The Korean replied, I am even more appalled that you don't eat dogs meat " that says everything. So let's say like this, some people eat dogs meat, some people don't eat dogs meat, that's all. Very simple things are made complicated often
ill give an honest answer from my own experience. Yes, chinese had eaten dogs, but not in a sense where they ate them as part of their cuisine(but there is one village that does), but in general alot of chinese ate dogs because at one point the gov't banned having dogs. they had dogs specifically as guard dogs without naming them and yes they ate them when the ban happened, Nowadays, they are pets not like how it was a decade ago. you gota understand they were living off food stamps at one point. food was scarce.
Every culture has its forbidden. For example, Indians didn't judge you if you eat your beef from your country. Muslims didn't judge you for eating pork on your own plate. So in my opinion, try not to judge anyone from your own culture, because every country has the right to write their own laws, people have the right to live their own way under their own law and own culture.
I had dog and cat in Vietnam. I didn’t see any such restaurant in China. I personally don’t see any problem with that and I have a really cute golden retriever. I hear that pigs are pretty smart. One of my neighbors has a small pig and brings it to the park to play with the dogs, here in San Diego.
You know, I live in a place where there are very few Chinese people around. All of my life I've only been asked once by one white girl who is a daughter of my dear friend.
I am not China Chinese but I can comment a thing or two about this. There are many ethnic groups in China. Some minority ethnic groups do not have taboo of eating dogs particularly the southern ones. In the South particularly Western Guangdong and Guangxi province , there are Han people who eat dogs and there were dogs shops. But let me say that they don't eat dogs everyday like they eat pork or chicken. My ancestors were Cantonese and as far as Cantonese culture goes eating dogs are not for wealthy or educated people. Usually the lower classes would indulge in it. Basically even in Cantonese culture eating dogs is frown upon. Eating dogs were still fairly frequent and open in Southern China until 20 years ago but I dont know whether it is still practiced today or have gone underground. Not all Asian Culture eat dogs. And if you come from a culture that do eat dogs you should not be ashamed about it with Westerners.
My parents and I are of Chinese descent, to my knowledge a very small percentage like 0.001% of people in China and Korea still eat dogs. Here's my story, my father took me to China to visit over 20 years ago as I was a teenager. We had a dinner with some of my father's business friends, those men ordered freaking dog meat, my father and I could not say or do anything. Then those people forced us to drink, smoke, and eat dog. My father started listening to them with no choice and my father also told me to have one small piece of the dog meat, those crazy manipulative people said all kinds of negative things to attack me framing me for being disrespectful. In order to get away with it, I listened to my father to just have a tiny piece, but I ended up getting sick for the whole day, not sure coz of the small piece of dog meat or other things like water and stuff. Anyway, as a grown man now, whoever forces me to do something I don't want to do, I will give them a middle finger and walk away. lol
Wow that sounds brutal. Believe it or not it's still a lot more common than you would think. And yes absolutely, the trick is to stand your ground and don't care what anyone else says lol
I must comment on this matter. I am in China. I have a golden retriever. I like dogs very much. But as far as I know, many people here steal other people’s pet dogs and eat them, and then they will say that they are not eating pet dogs. In the dog meat market, a dog sells for about US$60, but for dog carnivores, the cost of US$60 is not enough to raise a dog, and the dog meat market in China cannot tell you where their dog comes from. of. Just a few days ago, my city was cleaning up stray dogs. They caught the dogs with net bags and then beat them to death with sticks. All this happened in public. This is what I saw with my own eyes. It's horrible. Very scary.

Mainland China there are still restaurants that serve dog meat. Nothing wrong with it if it’s in China, Korea, Vietnam.
Love you guys and looking forward to your new videos

Yeah we don't have an opinion either way neither. As long as people don't get too crazy about either side we can have a conversation haha.
Pets might be conceptually different from the dogs that certain areas in China eat.

my favorite lemon tea~~
I get asked if I eat dogs all the time. I am born in Canada with no accent
Anyone knows why hotdog is "hotdog"?
Perhaps because they look like wiener dogs!
@@mikeandgwynn In fact, dog meat was a very common meat in Germany until the early twentieth century. And the hot dog is from Germany.
Has Gwynn been mistaken for Russian or Ukrainian when visiting China.
