That was Take Six! And the bassline you admired was likely Alvin Chea who is the bass singer of the group.
Alvin chea is the man
And amazing G#1 at 7:36 from him
Please listen to his arrangement of Moon River, He won a Grammy for it and it’s just soooo good
“How many instruments can Jacob play?” Yes...all of them
I can see.....dude is CRAZY talented
He actually doesn't really play brass instruments but I reccon it wouldn't take him long to learn
I think I heard him in an interview say that he chose to learn instruments that fulfill different roles in making music, if that makes sense - so he learned and studied voice, percussion, keyboards and guitar/bass. So, he can play different instruments from those "families" of instruments. I may be wrong but I don't believe he plays any of the bowed strings (violin, cello, etc.) or any horns or reed instruments. There's an instrument called a "harpejji" which is an electric instrument and kind of combination of guitar and keyboard, and he plays that BEAUTIFULLY. Here he is playing around, doing a version of Stevie Wonder's "Overjoyed": ua-cam.com/video/7Pj7xtLLfx0/v-deo.html
@@victorsixtythree He does actually play string bass (see Oh, what a beautiful morning, as well as I saw three ships covers) -- it seems a bit funny that he doesn't play other strings, since his mother is a violin teacher (you see her in a good number of his videos), and his maternal grandfather was apparently a concert violinist. But I've never seen him play woodwinds or brass.
Wonderful reaction. You were paying attention and had interesting comments. This to me is the way a reaction video should go. Jacob plays a ton of instruments. He did the arranging of this, even the orchestra (he created all the parts with a synth and then brought them to the recording session allowing everyone to hear just what he was hearing). Kind of incredible he did all the video editing too. He also-if the rest wasn't enough-won a Grammy for his efforts. I would love to hear you do a reaction to "Moon River". He created it with over 5200 separate tracks and the end result is stunning and beautiful. He also won a Grammy for that too.
First time I've heard Jacob Collier. Brilliant!! Genius!! What an imaginative riff on a great song. Does Lionel Ritchie super proud! Thank for playing.
You are correct, Jacob is from North London in England. After Moon River, you should do All I Need!! I love your reactions so much btw!
Just got here watching various reactions to Jacob's rendition of my favorite Lionel Richie song and man he's got the "Feel it in your soul" part down right! Jacob Collier is a genius and such a free spirit in the music industry. Such a fun dude!
This is Take 6 and Alvin Chea is the one killing that low bass voice! Jacob produced, and mixed every part and every instrument within the span of 6 hours I believe the morning of the rehearsal with the orchestra. Also you should check out moon river or even flintstones
'How many instruments can Jacob play?' The most asked question on the internet.
"How many instruments can Jacob play?"
How many are there?
How many instruments can Jacob play:
Yes.
Probably my favorite Collier video - thanks for this great reaction!
e o Steve Vai apenas segurando uma plaquinha
You didn't notice that Quincy Jones and Steve Vai were the ones holding the chord cards??
Yes, it was Take 6! My favorite songs of theirs are "A Quiet Place" and "A Few More Miles"
Your reactions are so good. So thoughtful. I've sorta been following you for a while now and I haven't forgotten that back in December 2020 you said you were going to do "Moon River." It 's so amazing. I'm still looking forward to that with great anticipation.
for realll. still waiting on that one...
Yes, that was indeed Take 6! That was Alvin Chea on bass. Legendary!!! If you want to react to more Take 6, I recommend "A Quiet Place" and "Spread Love" (entitled #SpreadLove2020Challenge). For more Jacob, I would suggest "Flintstones", "Fascinating Rhythm", "Don't You Worry Bout a Thing", and "Moon River."
He is the man of the moment
I love your reactions. Very real and sincere. Just a joy. Tis the season and all and Jacob has just released his version of "Chestnuts roasting on an open fire". I find it hard to imagine anyone who loves Christmas being unmoved by this beautiful rendition. A reaction please, perhaps? Best wishes.
I was at the concert in Toronto that they used for the crowd clips and it bordered on a religious experience if your religion is music.
Those African quintuplets are not easy to do!
Great question but it’s easier to count how many instruments he can not play
I’d recommend going back to something from Jacobs first album, recorded (like most of his work) by him working alone in his music room at home in London, with Jacob singing every part and playing every instrument - and filming and editing the video on his sisters IPad. Try “Hideaway” - one of his original songs. ua-cam.com/video/4v3zyPEy-Po/v-deo.html
Honestly In my Room will always be my favorite album by him. Flintstones is just insane
If you haven't done Phantom of The Opera by VoicePlay yet, I highly suggest it! It's amazing
We haven't done that one yet. Should get on it fairly soon 😁
Giving Jacob Ritalin would ruin it! No doubt he’s on somebody’s spectrum but it’s working for him. Please do a reaction to Jacob’s cover of Moon River. You’re in for a treat.
Jacob is a genius. No doubt. If you're interested in seeing into his music making process, he frequently does videos where he breaks down the Pro Logic session for one of his songs. He did one for All Night Long: ua-cam.com/video/UAMc4K_NXsA/v-deo.html
Ah there are so many Jacob Collier songs I could recommend but I think you gotta do his ‘Moon River’ cover next.
