Unlimited hydroplanes are the most beautiful form of motor sport. 30 foot long boats traveling at 200 miles per hour, deck to deck, with a magnificent roostertail of water trailing 100 feet behind. It makes NASCAR's pack of taxi cabs look awfully dull.
It will survive. There will always be some form of big boat racing. What it looks like in the future is anybody's guess. All forms of motor sport are in trouble today, with electric cars replacing gas powered vehicles slowly but surely.

...and this season (2003) was particularly exciting, w/ the return of a competitive piston-powered boat, w/ the U-3/Mitch Evans/Cooper Racing team!
