INGLEWOOD - Nayan "Tiny Philos" Kessee grew up in Inglewood and became a member of the Inglewood Family Bloods. He was arrested and sent to prison for a 2005 robbery that occurred when he was 18 and served 10 years in prison, but earned 3 degrees before he was released from a level 4 prison in 2016.

Big ups to this cat. One, for being wise enough to realize that he was "assed out" from the beginning of his arrest. The reason I say this is because, many of individuals, and/or cases, people know that they were dead to the wrong, and they still tried to fight the case, knowing that they had the goods on them. They took it to trial, and they got "bo dollars" slammed up out of them. You better ask somebody! Two, he took all of the charges and cut his "cronies" loose. Wise and honorable kid. Of course, they were in on it. They didn't bring him to the bank to make a deposit. But, he cut them loose. Thirdly, he made the best of a bad situation. He buffed up his mind instead of his arms, and it'll pay of in more ways than one. It doesn't look like he went no where near the weight pile. As a ex-con, people can, a lot of times tell when you've just been released from the pen. You can't tell once you approach him. He doesn't have that look, which will be of benefit to him. On top of that he speaks well. Plus, plus! And, he's educated himself, smiles a lot, and he's personable. If he applies himself and combines that education with his street knowledge, he'll go very, very far. Big ups once again. "Real men wear confidence!"💯💯💯👍

I'm from Memphis born and raised my father's mother lived in Los Angeles born and raised but I was asking her growing up around 2001 I was trying to move there but she told me no stay here because the gangs was terrible and she didn't want me to get involved but I still wind up running with the bloods in Memphis so it wouldn't have made a big difference I love all my black brothers and sisters but I still couldn't become a Crip because it takes more hard then being a blood then a Crip in my eyes

I got two of those AA degrees he has (Social and Behavioral Science and Business) but I hope he's going further with his education, I did (BA from UC Berkeley in Sociology and working on an MA in Organization & Leadership at the University of California) and I was formerly incarcerated too. Now I work at a program for formerly incarcerated students in Oakland. We do change!.

The smart money is to exhaust annual federal and state pell grants. Why the fuck would you use your own money? Only reason is if you didn't qualify - but most cats from the streets would qualify for pell grants.
So you admit - you're a thug dentist? Do you advertise in such a manner?
So even "upper class Blacks" are familiar with the Ghetto life style? No way around it? (joking). Yes, a violent felony could be a major obstacle for any board certified practitioner. Safe to assume you got a High School diploma? People often see my graduate degree hanging on the wall - and ask me how tough it was to attain it - I laugh every time. Graduate school is a joke. If they only knew how difficult it was to go through that transition from gang life at the age of 11 to 17 and transitioning into graduating from high school. That high school diploma was more challenging than any graduate degree could ever be. In fact, the high school degree has much more meaning to me than the graduate degree. That high school diploma is a reminder of the difficulty in transitioning from a violent gang life - GTA at age 12 all the way up to assault with a d/w at age 15 - to graduating high school.
