I am from the USA. I can’t tell you how much I want you to keep you language and keep your culture keep the why you dress and keep you dancing. I have been to many Pow wow in the area I live in.
What do you mean Hispanic? If you're from Mexico, Canada, USA, Guatemala, Costa Rica, Honduras, Panama, El Salvador (Central America) or Brazil, Chile, Ecuador (South America), etc we're all indigenous.. unless you're only descendent from Europe. They want us to label ourselves Latinos, Hispanic, mestizo, castizo, etc... But we're not, we're indigenous... Juchari Uinapekua
Rachel Sleightholm you hear lots of Natives talk in their Native language in Canada. In fact most will tell what language they speak by saying their Tribes name or what Natives are they. Because Culture sets us apart, one more thing Inuits and Natives are two different people and race...ever noticed you never see any Inuits at Pow-wows?
I attended a PowWow in Wyoming when I was young and I remember it being the most special thing. I was a little blue eyed blonde white looking kid but was welcomed in the most beautiful way. I remember women smiling and touching my head as if I was one of their own and I danced with the children. We were all happy to just be together. I miss that feeling.
One thing that is different from American and Canadian Native is that Canada kept and still upholds the Treaties since 1771. Part of why they call Natives “First Nations”
I think Canada has been doing a better job of it recently, but to say it’s upheld it’s treaties since 1771 is pretty dishonest. I’ve heard some pretty strong criticism of Canada’s historical treatment of the First Nations too. Still, you’re right that it’s generally been better than in the US.
Well it's like this we have made mistakes with out Native American Tribes here in the United States but we will die to protect them and their freedom to be who they are and speak as they want.
Sharon, just because you are 68 and disabled doesn't mean you can't go so a Powwow. Call your local tribes. They may have a way for you to one. I am 65. Been recovering from a house fire that killed both dog and myself. Long roads often result in the greatest blessings. Good luck!
I grew up in Oregon and got to see lots of Pow wows. Chiloquin had a population just over 700. Very small town in the middle of no where. 80 percent of those people were Indian.
Hamadi tzi dada, thank you great spirit and ancestors my mum amd i had the opportunity to attend to this event. We are from Mexico and had great experience to be there with the indigenous brothers and sisters of U.S and Canada. Hopefully next year again. Spite of migration limitations we could do it at the end. Thank you !
Those two dancers look absolutely stunning! Especially the young guy with al the feathers. Awesome job of VERY skilled people making these traditional outfits. And I looove their dancing style. Just wished the dance would have taken longer ;)
I have to admit I envy Native Americans because they have their culture or can trace it back at the very least. My family is from Colombia but I have no clue as to what tribe / culture / language my ancestors practiced. It hurts to be honest because down there it's still shunned to admit you have indigenous blood.
The MC said even be thankful for step moms and step dads. Which is what I had. I learned I am Ojibwa. I just use Lakotah because it’s familiar, even to non Natives. I hope to find more Ojibwa tonight while scrolling through UA-cam
Интересно, насколько распространён инсульт среди индейцев? Такое эмоцеональное пение! Я, после двух "куплетов" тянусь за успокоительным. До чего же они хороши!

I'm curious. If anyone is native American in these comments, what do you think about the indigenous people down in Central America and Mexico? Their dances and traditions?
is contest dancing a tradition? or is it a newer cultural thing? I see they wear numbers. I wonder how these dance gatherings were structured about 150-200 years ago?

Keep this alive FOR EVER
Never forget your culture!
Am Hispanic..I hope this culture doesn't get lost..much of my ancestors dance has been lost. This is such beautiful dance.

Juchari Uinapekua: Completely spot on, I've dissociated myself from terms like Latino/Hispanic, we are Native Americans!
@@hukllankanchis1575 I told a family from central America that they were Native American. They thought they weren't. They looked nearly pure blood.
Hispanic culture is alive in Spain, no?
Your native also Aztec Mayan.
incredibly moving to listen to the young man speaking in his native tongue

Wow!! The language sounds so beautiful....like nothing ive ever heard before. 😊
1:16 I thought that was Shannon coming over to give the Emcee a whatfor LOL
😍😍... absolutely LOVE how Native's speak! So proud of my heritage.
We are still here today because we held on to our language. ( In spite of the Indian boarding schools.)
I love hearing onkwehon:we languages being spoke among our young ones, something many take for granted is their native tongue....
One thing that is different from American and Canadian Native is that Canada kept and still upholds the Treaties since 1771. Part of why they call Natives “First Nations”
But native is just 10% of Canada population, well that’s what Wikipedia says
