Rebel Diaz is living up to hip-hop's potential to educate and inspire. This video is living up to the Internet's potential to democratize the media. This is what "reality TV" means to me.
Thank you for this amazing song. Love and respect to our brothers and sisters in Chicago.
- A Minneapolis Teacher
This tribute is the highest compliment coming from a public school student to Chicago teachers - and remember Rebel Diaz, we are so proud of you!

Beautiful song
Were you in my class? You are fabulous.
3rd grade teacher is the best I had! Hell Yea!
Excelent! there one song from Chile that used the same sample, his name is "La llaman superación" Masdekas, activist hiphop!
Respect!
Love it. Keep it going. Go Rebel Diaz and Chicago Public School Teachers.
I want to thank you for expressing yourself and being what some call a prodigy. I hope your music slaps those politicians in the face that just because some of us went to public school, with the demands the teachers are fighting for, that the teachers do produce super stars not just thugs. I hope this will cause more students to express and fight for what is right!. High Five!
I love music...BUT I love music with a PURPOSE even more! Thanks for the support.
This song is the truth about Public education in Chicago. Thanks for bringing a great track that gives us Chicago teachers some love.
Thank you for cranking up the volume on truth.
Que Buena! Wonderful!
Salute! One love!

SOLIDARITY.
Solidarity from the National Union of Teachers in London UK! - also inspired by the fight from the Chicago teachers.
More than ever this song is real.... closing the school...open more jail.... join the struggle with the public school student , teacher!!! Goood job Rebel diaz!!!
This is one good message and music video and my sister is in this video in 33sec
This song hits home! A child's mind is where the revolution is born...for that matter, it explains crumbling state of public education.
much respect to the artists and their dedication to address injustice. Fist up to Rebel Diaz and to the CTU. - Sai
Mad props! Realy inspiring,Im proud of my Cps teachers without them i wouldnt be going far! they motivated me to get of the streets they always want the best for their students and i gaved them hell, but now im thankful.I have all honor classes in highschool because they pushed me to get there They work hard and put up with us. If it wasnt for them caring about me i would of been locked up or maybe in the streets! Im proud to say i learned from a Chicago Teacher!
Michael Paone, I don't think the jab was over-generalized. He picked out two very specific politicians: Arne Duncan, Rahm Emmanuel, and Barack Obama. As for getting CEO's out of the classroom, he's talking about the Waltons, Chuck Rauner, Oprah, Bill Gates, and other capitalists who now consider privatizing education a major opportunity for making more profits. There's always been a contradiction between what capitalism wants for students, and what the students themselves need. Now that contradiction has reached a breaking point.
sik bro's!!!!!
I sometimes dream about how wonderful it would be without politicians involved in education and having "real" administrators with compassion and enthusiasm making decisions; making schools a happy place to live and learn.
WOW! Your words ring so true and with such soul. The shout out at the the end to Lane Tech made this even more personal. My dad taught there for thirty five years. He was part of the 1969 strike (I even brought a strike sign to show and tell) My family lived through every strike.... I'm also a teacher and what is going on right now towards the teachers and students is criminal. This needs to be blearing from every window in Chicago!
Democracy Now brought me here. Good shit!
❤️
So awesome- you rock. I know your teachers are so touched and proud.
I used to be a "Chicago Teacher", until the corporate business model threw me out like so much garbage, Love ya Unity Class of 2011!
Respect Rebel Diaz speaking that truth Word Up! Peace Bless!
dope
Rebel Diaz- awesome job on the song! I was a music teacher in the CPS system- you have expressed through music the heart of what matters for us- educating students, not just teaching to the test! You are a smart cookie- keep it up. Maybe the powers that be will listen to you more than they listen to us:)
I know that's you J.! Chicago Public School Student! - N.W. Chicago Public School teacher!
Much respect for putting out this track Rebel Diaz!
latin pride!
Buena cabros!!!
So great! My dad taught at Lane Tech for thirty five years!
I just saw this Reb and I must say, "Rebel Diaz all I can say is WOW! May he never stop advocating in his way for the causes he does for they affect us all in one way or another!"
Keep up your awesome work and advocating for the causes you do in the special way that you do!
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for this song! xoxoxoxooxoxoxox
Can a white brother support this? Love it. Subbed.
Wonderful!!!!!! Thank you!!!!! Art Teacher
You'll get no argument from me on that matter. But that's just a reason to support more state funding for schools. In the past few decades schools have had to turn to corporations for funding(as well as vending machine contracts). In turn these companies get to advertise and peddle their junk food in the schools.
good song+lyrics yea, I remember Illanoiz from the block party on drake. keep up the good work Rebel Diaz. representin' haugan+roosevelt, that was me with the drum at 0:23.
Amazing, thank you!
Nicely Done this is why I create music for the Poor Ghetto Side of America that dont have a voice!!!
RIP, Karen Lewis.
As well as standing for revolutionary hip-hop, I'm a teacher. I agree with @chitownteach that companies should never run public education. Throughout the capitalist nations, cutbacks are being made, hope is disintegrating and imagination is being wasted. We need to stand up for the world's children - ensure they all have a quality education, give them all real hope for the future, and nurture all of their imaginations. Education is at the heart of change. Neglect it, and there will be no change.
Please explain what you mean by everything you just said.
Yeah, god is what people need in the real world. Actually the whole POINT of school is to teach them to fill out job applications and do little else.
Fuckin sick! That raw raw...logan square baby Goethe

Cool---I've seen these dudes more than once live over the last couple of years at a protest or two----damn,when the last time you actually heard a rap song about a teacher's strike,or ANY strike for that matter. This is what hip-hop used to sound like on the regular----and I've always thought the older brother (the first rapper) was kind of hot!
what kind of drugs are you using?
Thank You Thank You Thank You

This is nice. I like everything except the over-generalized jab at public officials. Sending a message that they're all bad or have hidden motives is just inaccurate. There's great folks in office! There's also great business people out there as well. Feel it fitting to point that out.
Like if you heard this song on Democracy Now! =)
Watcher, YOU'RE the reason why we need to put more money into public schools. Then again, maybe you were home schooled. It would explain a lot.
Yeah, because multimillionaires love to spend time commenting on UA-cam and don't know the difference between the word your/you're or discuss and disgust. Who the hell did you think you were going to fool?
You produce jobs in the 'wok' market? That's 'discussing!' Seriously, who do you think you're fooling? Perhaps the problem with schools is the fact that America frowns on intellectual pursuits in favor of sports and athletics.
lol...i bet u didn't even understand your own self...lol
Horrible......do a google search and look at the Chicago Public School roster.....wait until you see their pay!
