It's with this hobby not only on the building side, but also running and switching (playing) with the layout. You can see then if the layout is working and interesting for you. I hope that the small procedure goes well and has the expected result.
My railway club reopened for 1 day the other week, with the miniature railway running. I snapped up one of those ex-Airfix shops ready-built at about £2
It's still a pleasure to see your little layout : nice, simple, and a well-balanced scenery : not too much, not too few, and everything at its place with a purpose. By the way, I am looking at 3D printers to build me some freelance rolling stock, maybe beginning with a schnabel freight wagon with a huge transformer on it, English Electric was an industrial exporter of those. Works also with marine diesels...
Alway enjoy your videos. My Dad was an "O" model railroader back in the 50's and over the years transitioned into "HO" and then to "N" gauge. Thanks for reminding me what model railroading is and should be, tinkering, playing and have the utmost fun at you hobby. Cheers
Don't understand why people don't watch the videos all the way through, what is the point in watching at all if you don't. Great video again Mike it really is coming on a treat, couldn't help but notice the railbus derailed but great job on the Mehano. Best of luck with the procedure, know what it's like having just come out of hospital after a heart attack. Good luck and keep safe. Frank
Average view time if all.vudeosvon you tube is approx 3 mins, lol. Hope you are ok mine was just a minor check, so nothing compared to a heart attack, take care of yourself mate
The value that backscene adds to the layout is amazing...the shunter looks great. The American SW-1 you converted reminds me of the units that EMD here in the US built for an Irish railway after WWII. Best of luck with your upcoming procedure and hope you're back up to speed quickly.
Hi, I was quite pleased with the backscene , it's the hedges and trees right up against it that help to blend it. It's interesting how mist nations shunters/switchers ended up very similar. All good thanks, an endoscopy , somewhat overdue due to covid.
It looks really great. I think the placement of the point leading to the fiddle yard is genius because its practically hidden. I hope everything goes well
Great little layout. The Hornby pack is really good value as you say. Man, I wish I could find some of those "filing cabinets" you have at a reasonable price - they are perfect for storage. Nice update and never apologize for spending your time running trains :)
Hello mike and doug hope you are both well , ive just come across this video 00 gauge model railway in the shed part 5 shunter pack and scenery, you never fail to amaze me how you can plan a layout so quickly and its all in your head hopefully one day with a lot of practice i will be as good but mine will be N gauge so im going to go to part 1 were i will watch and learn i also find taking notes helps keep up the good work lads . Paul

Paul
Really enjoyed this video. Not sure how you got such a lovely looking layout in your shed but you’ve given me a lot of ideas. Thanks for the upload brilliant as always.
Astonishing work you've put in time and time again.Loved all the layouts you've done mate and the enthusiasm you have !Well done ,enjoyed your channel for 2 years 👍 Congrats to a true modeller !
Love this channel guys 🏴 some of the channels are away above me if im honest i only want to run trains and enjoy it not sit for the rest of my live with glue and tweezers .Keep them up guys
Well that has come on a real treat since last time! I like proper dense woodland and it always looks good when on a rise like that. I was going to maybe suggest some sort of shrubs towards the back end of it at the limit of the railway merging into the line side greenery by the tunnel mouth just for a wee bit more texture 🤔 Just thought it would add an extra dimension to it 😎 I think that village area will look just fine especially when you’ve decided on the final locations of the other buildings. A bench and some flower boxes by the war memorial or whatever it is would look terrific 🤓 But one complaint! You should never apologise for having “too many locos” or any other types of rolling stock for that matter. There are only two levels of stock: “not enough” or “sufficient and more”…and besides, there’s still some gaps in the cabinet (great idea BTW) so all you need declare is that you are “below capacity” surely? 🤣😂😅 Cheers mate, great to catch up with your activities again 👍🍀🍻🎄
Brilliant minds think alike, I've just added a hedge and some bushes to the edge by the tunnel mouth! As you correctly say I have some spaces left ( inc another mostly empty filing cabinet) good job I've just bought 4 more coaches and another loco lol
Nice update Mike. I like the hornby train pack and yes 60 pounds for a loco and 3 wagons that's a bargin! Wish you all the best for your upcoming procedure and hope everything goes well.- Nicholas.
Hi,the more I see this layout the more it gets better with detail, you have got alot of locos to choose from.thevfiddle yard is ideal for parking.another top video.

It would make an ideal shunting layout,, in OO . You can get an oval into that using flexi track but it will limit what locos will go round it, but it can be done, see my market town videos for ideas.
Coming along nicely I want a rural midlands village with some hills. I also for a sixth year school project printed and made the scalescenes coal office kit. Put the walls in the wrong places forcing me to have a flat roof and no fire. Backstory could be war damage and repaired with a flat roof and electric heater. How long would it take for me to make my layout from electrics upwards as I have done a single line meets two bay station
@@BudgetModelRailways True and it is a sixth year LCA ICT (computers) project. How long would such a layout take to make on a 6x4 layout with single line and passing loop at station. Also what is your opinion on the hornby trackmat building kits
It's a bit like how long is a bit of string. If you use simple quick methods that helps and of course it depends how much free time you have. I'm retired so it's only taken me a couple of months. 4ft is really more than you need, but for various historical reasons has become a standard. The main thing is keep it simple, the more complex, especially the scenery the linger it will take
@@BudgetModelRailways Well the hills will be expanding foam. Window overlay, window ledge missing and visible superglue marks will weather it. Do you still do your newsletter as I might send you the picture. And to clear up 6th year is Irish sixth form but is not in a college

Beautiful Blue Diesel loco set, I got the same around 3 weeks ago. Bold colours makes it really attractive. Great collection of locomotives..
I could imagine having hours of fun running trains on your layout, great job all round.

Hi Mike and Doug I’ve just been to my first model railway club tonite in bolton it’s only been going about 3 years and the N gauge has more layouts than the 00 gauge there was also an 0 gauge layout and the owner said Paul these are very expensive and the cost of converting them to dcc is crazy 😖
it was there open day on Saturday and apparently they did very well with parents bringing in the kids
I saw mostly dc but there was 2 layouts in dcc and I must admit I was impressed Jen I heard what can be done I even saw a locomotive in 00 that puffed steam as it went along the track the faster it went the more steam came out
I asked why was the N gauge so popular and they said you can do
a lot more with N I’ve even discovered there doing N gauge in dcc how they do it in such a tiny locomotive god knows 🤷🏼♂️
I told them I was a beginner and what I had learned had come from Mike and Doug at budget model railways
and yes they know of you both

I had half an eye on that Hornby train pack, but the plastic wheels on the wagons put me off.

Will the R30036 Diesel Shunter Pack run on a track with a curve radius of 10 inches, or does it have to run on a minimum of R1 curves?
The loco will but the wagons are too long
