    Have you installed the bearing backwards, as in orange side out v orange side in?

      Ummmm….. no idea actually. The van is still throwing down miles for my niece with no new issues. So…. 🤷🏼‍♂️

      @@jondawes7921 Yep, the bearing went in backwards. Orange side should be facing in. That may cause you problems.

    What is the symptom ? Mine does like a shutter growl and you have to let off the acclerator and then back down to change gear to keep it from growling and sounds like a vibration.

      @troysgarage  15 днів тому

      Sounds like the same thing. It will get to the point where it’s a constant growl.

      Does yours sound like when you go over rumble strips? My 2007 Rav4 I purchased almost a year ago has done this since I got it. It happens between almost 40-50 mph at random times. I first thought it was just the texture of the road. Then researched and had 2 mechanics test drive and said the torque converter best to change transmission and put new torque converter. Had that done and the rumbling is still happening and seems like it’s more often.

      @@sistersin the fact that it’s getting worse over time tells me it’s very likely this bearing that is the issue. And yes. The sound is similar to the wake up rumble strips but without the “feel” of them. If you can Jack up all four wheels and SAFELY get under to hear where it’s coming from you should be able to confirm easily enough.

      @@troysgarage wish I would not have replaced the transmission now, considering that did fix the issue. I’ve now spent more in repairs than I originally paid for it. Is this a part of the drive shaft. I’m pretty sure that’s what the mechanic said he thought it might be since the transmission and torque converter didn’t fix it. He said something about removing something that makes it all wheel drive and making it front wheel drive only may fix it. But I didn’t know if that could cause other issues.

      @sistersin that is exactly what this part does. It’s the lock for the rear wheel engagement. I supposed you could disconnect that part but you’d need a block off plate or you lose all your transfer case fluid.

    good afternoon, i have a Toyota Naoh 2008 model dba-zrr75w. and I'm having a problem. the code i got from a scan is DTC/c1299/99 cancellation of 4WD Control. could you advise me on my repairs ?

    • @troysgarage
      @troysgarage  2 місяці тому

      This code refers to the size of one of the tires being different than the others. This could be as simple as low tire pressure in one or more tires. It could be that the incorrect tire size was recently installed as well - running on the spare could cause this code as well. If all tire sizes are the same and air pressure is good, it could be the 4WD Control ECU. But start with the simple items first. Hope this helps.

    I think I would just replace the whole copler. I know. More money but I think less labor. I don’t think my mechanic wants this job.

      I get it. I show this in case someone decides to tackle it on their own. You pay a mechanic for their expertise and their tools. 🤷🏼‍♂️
