When someone gifts gets stronger and your neutral and you( hear)and (feel) the negative towards you constantly that negative energy gets. To be nasty and if you are not trained or ready but have the power it well have you thinking like the energy your picking up even when the higher self shows you its intention or direction the negative will lead to. I think in this context, we can try looking at the word "spiritual" as being led by spirit. Bob Marley was a great musician because of the heartfelt, soulful and beautiful messages and melodies he was able to channel from his "mind" (spirit/thoughts/intuition etc) and have his essence heard globally. .That was indeed a spiritual man in my opinion.
