Next time you do one of these, it would be great if you could have the tools or a picture of the tools to illustrate exactly what you're talking about. These videos are so helpful!

To me, small diameter rotary cutters are WONDERFUL for cutting out knits. I will often 'rough cut' my pieces with scissors, than go back and finish-cut with the rotary cutter. I know that essentially it's double work but it goes very fast and I find my finish-cut is much more accurate because there is less "drag" on my piece as I cut it.. I'm a quilter so using the rotary for knits just came naturally. And when I have a long straight cut to make, a long sleeve, the side or back of a skirt, etc., I lay a quilting ruler along the cutting line and have at it with the rotary cutter. It makes a good straight cut and my seam line more accurate as a result. Not for everyone I know, but works great for me! Another favorite tool is a sleeve board - It's great for giving clothes a more professional look. Lastly, as I tend to have the "dropsies", whether it's pins, thread snips, scissors, needles, whatever, I'm good at dropping it. So I bought an extendable wand with a small magnet on the tip (Amazon). It's strong enough to pick up my big shears! And if dropping pins, all I do is sweep it around my chair and bingo! It picks up all kinds of things in addition to pins - some coins, paper clips, binder clips, anything metal (except aluminum). It beats getting up and feeling around the floor for lost sharp do-dads. No "ouchies".

Totally agree with the magnetic aids! I'm sure gravity has increased in the last 15 or so years _ Getting up off the floor is much more difficult to do after fishing the pins from under the sewing table! Not to mention resetting the internet and wireless routers! Also love rotary cutting, but I now wear a cut-proof glove on my non-dominant hand. (It holds the ruler / fabric)

@@juadonna LOL! You've got it! At my age, any time I can avoid getting down on my old knees (Ow!) is a blessing, needless to say I love that magnetic pickup wand.
You're smart - the protective glove is a given. I learned that the hard way years ago when I accidentally sliced open my left thumbnail. Surprisingly, it didn't hurt much at all - those rotary blades are very sharp! But it did take help from a hand surgeon and a couple of months for it to heal and the nail to grow back. Lesson learned.

If you love washable stick-on, you'll love fusible thread. It's great for hems, zippers, seam binding. The Charlotte's is good. Superior Thread makes a giant cone if you use this stuff a bunch!

And you don't have to sew with it to use it! To just hold something in place until you sew it for real, you can literally just lay down a line of it between two layers of fabric and press. Handy when you're already at the ironing board pressing up a hem, for example.

I love Singer machines. My grandma had a vintage one which she passed on to my mom, and I then used once I was old enough! That machine lasted about 70 years. Now I have a computerized Singer machine and it has been so easy to use

You hate cutting? I was making handbags before I decided to start making clothes and believe me cutting out clothing patterns is a piece of cake in comparison.❤

Which presser foot is your favorite for your Bernina? My favorite is #10 and #50 (my favorite for sewing knits).

I think the #10 (the edge-stitch foot) is my first, second, and third favorite! ;-)
I tell every new sewist to buy an edge-stitch foot. Makes your top stitching look soooo good! (And also teaches you that having a great tool can really elevate your work.)

I have a rotary cutter that came in a sewing kit... so it probably isn't the best quality. Does anyone have a specific model that is their tried and true?
