@@MrGoodsie It's not an innocent comment. Every time rugby goes on about respect it's laced with haughtiness. Cricket, tennis, football etc. all have codes of respect but you don't hear them droning on about it, unlike rugby. Please, just celebrate rugby for being a great game without all of the needless sneering at other sports.

One reason is the injuries are less in Rugby compared to NFL as you tackle not 'hit' the opponent. Interestingly NFL is now adopting much of the rugby techniques to bring an opponent down. USA do very well in the Sevens version of the game and came 2nd in the world last year.

I dont think they should get on their knees, but I fully respect their choice to do so. It has nothing to do with me and they dont need your or my agreement. Why and how a massive sportsman with superhuman abilities chooses to honour others is entirely his business, and though I dont think its neccesary it does show huge self confidence and humility.

I saw that at the Olympics, it's a Fijian gesture of respect, arguably the most humble people in the game or even the world.

@@dreyerbothma904 Not calling it pathetic because it (supposedly) values respect so highly; am calling it pathetic because rugby has got nothing else, and even the respect element is exaggerated and used by rugby fans as a means to try and convince themselves that it's actually a decent game. Respect exists in all sports but rugby haughtily claims otherwise, which is one of the reasons so many people are put off it and why it is (and always will be) a minority sport.

@@dreyerbothma904 No frustration here. Rugby regularly takes out its frustration on football though. Again, it's a way of dealing with the inferiority complex, I suppose. No other sport feels the need to justify itself the way rugby does.
