Imagine rocking up at the lights in your boy race Wrexy or your hot hatch RS3 or even a $200,000-500,000 high performance sports/hyper car and some old Chinese woman in some budget looking MG comes up besides you and you both floor it and she absolutely obliterates you and merges in front of you like nothing happened. Your ego would be scarred and drop to the floor.
I'm afraid they can't. The battery pack will be the whole floor and there will be no other crucial component to get included in. Maybe the i3, but with current battery technology and the i4 M50's emotors
Hi guys just viewed your drag test MG v BMW. I believe that in the MG menu there is a launch control menu which does some other magic stuff to make it quicker than just mashing brake and accelerator etc, but as I haven't actually been in or driven one, I may stand corrected. To be honest, I'm just a dumb old 77yr old fart that likes going fast
Mg4 Xpower costs $60k, _including_ on-roads (as opposed to excluding on-road costs as stated in the video). I also believe it is better to do 0-100 quicker with traction control on.
Damn the MG gave the BMW a huuuuge run for its money. I'd take the MG any day. For a 6th of the price... Basically making expensive cars look like a waste.
Bar it being Chinese it really is a serious contender for those electric car buyers that buy a Tesla model 3 for the 0-60 (and only that). In the uk it is £30k or A$60k via carwow 😊 for a 3.6s 0-60 car. That is half the price of a model 3 performance which hits 60mph/97kpm at 2.9s, and £20k / A$40k less than the 4.1s LR DUAL MOTOR. If you can get over the badge it’s a steel. However, if you want handling or stopping (cos those fake calliper’s are no brembos!) then it is a harder decision.
A small hatch is 1800kg?!! Now that’s good for the planet and our roads aint it 🤪 Ide never buy one, but I love an underdog giving a big thing a hard time…even if it looses I still like seeing a flash thing having to work for it
I mean, I had a Mercedes GLA45s, it weighed in at 1800kilos. That only had a 2.0 engine. The equivalent, at least in my mind for drag race purposes in a small hatch would be this MG and the Mercedes Benz A45S (1650), Audi RS3 (1645kg) vs 1800. Hell, even the performance Corolla weighs in at 1500 kilos..with a 1.6l 3cyl engine. Sure, it weighs more, but the margin isn’t huge, especially when you get more room inside. Cars all around these days are big, fat, and heavy.
@@aussiefarmer6012 Eh, bmw, sure, but we’re not likely to see many I7s around. I don’t even see any 7 series… Land cruisers start at 2.5 tonnes, climbing to like 2.8, without any of the modifications people put on them.
@@aussiefarmer6012 Very few in Australia. Even fewer of them would be sold en masse. things like luxo suvs are sure getting up there for weight, but you won’t see many at all on the road, compared to something like aforementioned Land Cruiser which seems to be every 10th car on the road. Even this fully loaded I7 weighs less than the heaviest Land Cruiser.
@@scotty2hotty159 I’ll take an MGB/GT over that electric thing…because it doesn’t need to go fast…it’s a classic that everybody needs to see. I know how those electric stations are powered too…and it’s not all electrical.
0 - 100 figures need to be abolished. the real world use is 60-100 or 80-120 as its has meaning for day to day driving use. Drag racing is illegal on the roads, so no one could or should practice this in real life. Also, prob less than 1% of people ever use their cars on the race track or closed roads.
I suppose if you were in charge, all cars regardless of status or price would have a top speed of 120kph as well. We don't need you telling us how many times we should chew our food and what time to go to bed thanks dad.
Next time you are in china you will be shocked at the amount of ev cars, many with high milage taxis and work vehicles, same country that has 300 k per hour bullet trains running everywhere 😮
your paying for the luxury and peformance, I know some who have bought the BMW because its far more superior to the EQS 53 AMG. Also many people have gone past 200,000 km with their EV and warranties last for a very long time.
I too am interested to see how battery life unfolds. Don't think that your statement will be reality, but time will tell. Battery technology will get better and cheaper over time, of course, so that does need to be factored in. And the EV maintenance and running costs have been significantly cheaper over that time as well. You're not paying the extortionate prices for fuel due to an oil cartel artificially raising global oil prices by limiting their supply on the global market. Electricity can be sourced primarily from your own rooftop solar if you have a solution in place at your house. Destination charging is also getting better and cheaper.
60 K Vs 160K probably, no surprise it’s quick, but they will both be obsolete in a year or 2 once hydrogen engines come along . The great EV con job rolls on
That X Power performance is bloody impressive.

RS3+stage 1 and you are close to 3.0 sec.
@@מדינט Pretty sure we can't get em in Australia.
Say what you like but that MG is a special car. It's quick. Excellent test car expert team please do more of this content
Shame the range is mediocre.
Love how the Beemer's nose is pointing in the air on take-off
She squats 💪💪
I'd choose the mg4 xpower anyday, great value for money, and 0 to 100kmh in 3.8 seconds , very fast car for price of a normal car, nice in green too,
Considering you can't drive like that and keep your licence, I would buy the MG 4 any day. 😊
Price isn’t everything but in this case it is! What weapon!
Looking forward to a drag race between the 4 and 8 cylinder 79 series.
How is that relevant to anything? Toad racing?
That i7 m70 has very impresive motors for that heavy body, put that technology in a i1 (eventually) and that would be a rocket.
I'm afraid they can't. The battery pack will be the whole floor and there will be no other crucial component to get included in. Maybe the i3, but with current battery technology and the i4 M50's emotors
Fantastic , thank you , can’t wait for the mg4 64kw v BYD dolphin 60kw cheers
PSA - Scott didn’t jump the line at the start of round two.
I noticed after that Scott was waiting for Paul to go before he went.
Awesome vid, slightly disconcerting with no engine noise.
Been waiting for this!!!!!!❤ (the edit was the “waiting” bc it was eating)

Such a fantastic sight seeing that I7 moving that fast then seeing how soft the suspention is 😮😂 perfect car

For a $60k car, that MG is freaking amazing. Range is kinda pox but damn.
Why is there no stopping distance test?
Can we have a Mercedes EQA and a Mercedes EQB reveiw please
EQA is better than EQB in terms of quality and speed range.
Let s be frank. You won't go over 150ish on country roads (if you push your luck) so the MG is not bad at all
Can you review the new Q8 e-tron?
Please review the Audi rs5 competition
MG has a good product. BUT NEED TO BE much better on software Updating and OTA and profiling
Cheap Chinese EV cars make other cars look expensive - appears to be a new trend
Bring the Zeekr 001FR for a drag race.
EVs don't have the same top speed, MG 4 is limited to 200km/h the distance allows the ICE to catch up because the EV reaches top speed by hall way.
I love carexpert🇦🇺

Can you please do a review for a McLaren MP4-12C?
I was thinking of the GR Yaris against this MG
It would get slaughtered in both 0-100 1/4 mile. Just look at the times.
60k??? Oh my God. In Ukraine this car transit from China and price about 22-23k dollars/ Sorry, my english is not good(

Most unlikely
ev’s have been in Australia for over a decade and the number of fires from them can almost be counted on one persons hand
See what happens when they as numerous as ICE vehicles. When they blow its like Armageddon.
I think I would keep the $270,00 and get the X POWER, BMW are a Wank any way.

I really think the MG4 X Power should have been fitted with real Brebmo brakes. For the extra money good brakes are worth way more. But nice race.
With regen braking of an electric car you don't need massive powerful brakes.....keep up.

Maybe your watching the wrong Chanel 😊
