The guy who played Zoro did all the fight scenes. He’s known for being great at action scenes and sword stuff in particular.
I’m not shocked considering his father is sonny Chiba. One of the most legendary Japanese actors and martial artist.
The actor of Zorro (mackenyu) is a skilled sword fighter, so he definitely did every fights scene himself!
nick, that mr. 7 was actually just mentioned in the manga, he wasn’t the mr. 7 you were talking about. the guy zoro killed was the previous one, whose face oda drew jokingly in an sbs, but they actually expanded that backstory and his appearance on in the LA.

I genuinely really liked the first episode. The production quality is crazy and I am definitely enjoying more and different scenes which are not in the anime. Comedic scenes are also funny most of the times!
So, for someone who hasn't seen OP, would this show be something worth watching or does it have a bunch of references I won't get? (To be fair I know quite a bit about it from friends and people I follow.

Ofc the thought of 1000 eps may scare you and the old school animation is for some off putting but it gets better as arcs pass

My sister wanted me to get into it during COVID and I couldn't bring myself to start that sort of thing with that daunting amount of eps lol. Still is on my watchlist though. Will give this a shot this upcoming weekend. Thanks again.

@@joshbrosh6626 The website I use has it color coded by fans/mods who label what eps are filler as well, which makes it easier. I dunno if you have ever seen DBZ Kai which is a cut down version of DBZ without the fillers and I always wanted a OP version like that.
When they brought in Mr. 7 I knew this was gonna be good, because they adapted a small detail that even a lot fans forget was mentioned. You can really see how the Creators are fans of the Anime

Just finished the whole first season and I can confidently say that this is absolutely the best anime live action adaptation I've ever seen. Some scenes were a little cringe to watch and sometimes the editing was slightly messed up but that never took away from the experience. Casting is perfect and it only gets better for the future episodes.
As for the overall rating, clearly below 8, I can give it 7.5 if I'm not in a good mood, and probably 7.9 if I'm in a good mood, and one of the causes of that rating is the lack of fighting skills and short-time fighting scenes like in the anime, and a very average CGI for fighting scenes. As for the plot and story, easily above 9, I can give it 9.15 for most, but overall, One Piece built its hype because of a good fighting scene, after all.
@@Khairan99 yes, it was not perfect by any means and they cut some cost here and there like using cg in night time and what not but overall as a live action adaptation after so many failures has finally landed it's mark and I hope it gets better in the future for different animes and ofcourse S2

@@MonostaneI wouldn't call that cost cutting, but rather a clever director decision - Jurassic Park did the same, they showed the T-rex in dim light to cover difficulties bringing it to life, some things (like buggy chop chop cannon) would've looked nowhere near as good in broad daylight. Although I do agree with others somme fighting scenes could've been longer and less stiff, I think this comes from the fact that the actors performed their own stunts (which is admirable in its own way, but no matter how much you're trained, it's never gonna be as good as a stunt man or Jackie chan lol)
This show will change this era of live action. Every one need to follow the way One Piece is.

I watched it all in one sitting, every change they made was smart, and they executed the show near perfectly. it's a 10/10 for me.
this episode has gone so deep with the lore! the mr 7 we see fighting with zoro isn't the mr 7 we know. according to one piece wiki the mr 7 we know from the anime replaced a former agent that had the same codename that died in an operation(the manga didn't specify what that was) and considering the ODA approved everything in the live action we know now that the mission the previous MR 7 died on was to recruit zoro! it's only 1st episode and this shit is so deep in the lore it's amazing!!!

zoro literally said he killed mr.7 to mr.1 and ms. doublefinger in alabasta cause mr.7 attacked him after he said he wanted to be on top

Mihawk was so good, he commanded every scene he was in. So imposing.
I'm in the fortunate(?) Situation that I've only watched a few episodes of One Piece, so a lot of the story was fresh to me - was genuinely shocked to see Zoro lose!

As a big fan of the anime, I couldn't stop smiling. I couldn't stop watching. I hope newcomers enjoy it as well!
I'll tell you. Basically I fucking hate One Piece. I tried many times and I couldn't get past episode 50 or something. I just can't. I don't like the way it's drawn, I don't like the colors, I don't like the grotesque side of it, I find the rhythm of the storytelling boring.
But this was fucking fire. They won me in 5 minutes and I binged the whole series in one night. The casting is perfect, the rhythm and the ambiance too. Every scene is spot on and I can't wait for the next series.
So yeah, it's gonna bring more people in, be sure of that.

Mr7 that are killed by Zoro never apear in manga, but are mentioned by Mr1 in chapter 190 (episode 119). They also mention that, the previous mr7 tried to recruit Zoro but faild.

So nice seeing you enjoy it! I really loved it. Been reading for 20 years and I decided to go into the live action with an open mind. I think this is a live action you can enjoy no matter at what point you are in the anime. Gives the old fans all the fun details and new watchers a cinematic piece that is interesting.
I saw the whole show as well and I was so so so so so so satisfied. So happy. Over the moon. They did us justice. For all of us who believed in this it paid off and for those who doubted I hope those doubts can be put to rest. We did it guys! ❤ 🏴☠️

All I can say is this is definitely the best anime adaptation ever, and it's from Netflix, did they learn? 😂 tbh the credit is not all on them, the writer and production who did it happen, or otherwise it could be another death note or attack on titan 😂

12:27 in the anime it stated that zoro was invited to baroque works by mr 7 in the manga zoro kills mr 7 to claim his bounty, remember in baroque works the numbers are replaceable in the anime mr 11 was killed by his teammates cuz they wanted his position

My parents didn't like the anime, but quite enjoyed the live action. For some people, the anime art style actually holds a story like this back and they can actually find it easier to get into when it's real people.

Actually, a lot of anime fans, like myself, have a hard time reading or watching One Piece because of the art style. I'm excited that this adaptation isn't bad but really great. I can enjoy it and also tell all my other friends who are like me to go watch it. It is very digestable.

I can definetely see alabasta, and skypiea getting adapted but the highest I think they'll go is marineford. I would love it if they had like maybe a few hundred episodes adapting the whole anime, but that might be impossible.

Netflix clearly learned their lesson from the Death Note debacle. "If you're adapting an anime to live action, RESPECT the SOURCE MATERIAL!"
And this was the original Number Seven, who Zorro DID kill "Off screen" in the Manga and anime before he met Luffy. He was replaced by the time the crew ran into the new 7 later.

I’ve only watched episode one but I am in love! They put so much love into this!
I'm on episode 6... I have to say, there are parts where I can nitpick for them changing things up, but im finding myself embracing it. Perhaps it's due to the incredible amount of work they put into this that I can appreciate.
So far the series is an 8.5/10 for me.
Considering this is only the first season, so a steep learning curve, season 2 will probably improve on those small areas it fell short (and will probably have a higher budget))

I enjoyed the 1st episode when I first watched it, but the more I watch it , the more I get into it. Up until then, I was still uneasy with some stuffs but it was just me not understanding some changes that were intentional, but once those changes became clear in the 2nd episode, man... I've only watched 2 episodes and I'm already LOVING this!

The current Mr.7 we know is formerlly Mr.6 who got a field promotion.

The Mr. 7 in the live action is the previous Mr. 7 who was also mentioned in the manga. We never got to see him but it was mentioned in Alabasta that he tried to recruit Zoro but zoro refused and later killed the guy when he attacked Zoro. That's why Baroque works seemed familiar to Zoro when first got introduced to us in Whisky Peak. After Mr. 7's death we saw the new Mr.7 at the Alabsta clock tower

It really gives off the same spirit and feel as in the OG materials, but I kinda miss those iconic scenes, though. Like, when Luffy beats up Koby to show the marines that they're not friends and the marines send Luffy and his crews off with a salute.

First Episode Presentation Live Action absolutely sweet so far it’s enjoyable episode.
I subbed to this guy not because of his views or opinions but because of his energy. I rarely find someone who can get as excited and enjoy something like this. Watching his videos makes me happy because I can tell someone is enjoying something as much as I am. His energy is contagious. That's why I subbed.
One thing I can say is that I love the bounty reaction like the anime and when the character bounty pops up on the screen they interact with it soo cool🔥🔥🔥

gotta be honest I think this easily might've been one of the best shows I've seen this year and easily one of the best netflix shows!
I have to note that I've not seen the entirety of the anime, watched it as a kid when it was on tv but a lot of times the episodes were not really in order so I never actualy sat down to watch the anime however I am aware of the general concept and our main crew but I'd still consider this my first introduction to one piece and honestly as someone who's „never“ seen the anime: This is absolutely HYPE! If Netflix cancels this show we seriously need to cancel them because then they obviously don't know what good entertainment, production and acting is!!

Nick, about this Mr 7, I was searching about it ( because I forgot about it too)
He was mentioned in One piece Episode 116, when Zoro and Mr 1/Miss DoubleFinger first met. Mr 1 mentions that Zoro was the one who killed more than 100 soldiers in Whiskey Peak while Miss Doublefinger adds that he was the one who also killed the first Mr 7 when they sent him to recruit Zoro(the live action scene)
Now about the original Mr 7 appearance, one reader asked about it to Oda, and Oda made a rough sketch of the first Mr 7 appearance in SBS 36 (when you searched for Mr 7 the sketch appeared in the first img in 12:11 )
