- Marc Rothko's abstract paintings have always touched me. His large-format paintings with their monochrome areas of colour are great abstract oil paintings. In this video, I paint an abstract acrylic painting on a square canvas in the style of Mark Rothko. I use sponges instead of a brush to apply the acrylic paint. I apply the abstract colour areas I have created by dabbing on acrylic paint in such a way that they appear very lively. This creates a warm-cold contrast between turquoise, violet and red. I chose the metallic colour bronze as the connecting colour, which appears in all three abstract colour areas. I would be delighted if you like my abstract interpretation of Marc Rothko's monochrome colour field painting.

Very nice Inga. Rothko did many paintings with darker colors so with the style and coloring you used, you have produced a very nice Rothko-isque piece.
Thank you very much, that makes me very happy. I believe that Rothko felt the dark colours and the mood that emanated from his paintings. But that didn't fit into my world of colour in the narrower sense. I like geometric shapes and that's why I get a lot out of his stacked rectangles, but I wanted to see other colours there. Hallo Inga, ich war zunächst skeptisch bzgl. dieser Brauntöne, aber gerade der dunkle Hinter-/Untergrund hat die plastische Ansicht, die Struktur wie ein Gewebe, ermöglicht. Bravo!

I've stood in some of those darkened rooms in places like the Tate Modern in London. By choosing a dark colour palette for this painting, you have embraced the moodiness that Rothko was famous for. Your own spin with the inclusion of dab marks is also interesting. Well done!

Bonjour Ingas, j'aime beaucoup ces couleurs sombres pour le fond, cela fait un tableau très sobre et reposant, bravo.
Depuis, je ne sais plus pourquoi j'avais un peu peur de l'arrière-plan si sombre. Je n'aurais jamais remis en question un fond noir comme la combinaison de l'ombre et du vert phtalo. Merci beaucoup!
Hallo liebe Inga, wieder ein gelungenes Bild, das du da gezaubert hast. Ich bewundere ja immer deinen Ideenreichtum. Wenn die Farbauswahl nicht passt, kann das schnell mal trivial wirken. So hat es ein bißchen was von einem Sonnenuntergang, wenn man es an der Wand und mit entsprechender Beleuchtung sieht. Ich tue mich mit der Farbzusammenstellung manchmal etwas schwer. Ist ja auch nicht ganz so einfach bei der großen Farbpalette. Die letzten beiden Bilder fand ich übrigens auch super. Bin gespannt, was du sonst noch so auf Lager hast. Ich wünsch dir eine schöne kreative Woche.

Herzlichen Dank liebe Kathleen! An einen Sonnenuntergang hatte ich gar nicht gedacht, aber da hast du einfach Recht, das passt sehr gut! Eine Farbzusammenstellung ist manches Mal auch wirklich schwierig, vor allen Dingen, weil ich mich schon an Rothko orientieren wollte, mir viele seiner Farben zu dunkel waren. Als ich an mein letztes Bild dachte, das mit dem „Eis“-Gelb, war mir klar, dass ich helle und freundliche Farben wollte.

Started working on a Rothko. For a moment I thought you might end up with an Albers with the two boxes of different colors. Yet you did something else altogether. Challenging but fun when you plan something in your mind that you want to do, but the colors lead you somewhere else. Nicely done.

@@ingascolorart I have not attempted a Rothko...yet. His blending and the luminosity he achieved in his work somewhat intimidate me. As I progress in my artistic journey, I will get there. Just not yet. I'm still developing my own style.

Hallo liebe Gisela, herzlichen Dank für deinen Kommentar! Ich glaube tatsächlich, dass Rothkos Bilder durchaus schwierig sind. Ich bin mit meinen Tupfen mehr als glücklich, weil sie Bewegung in eine sehr starre Formensprache bringen, auch wenn die Vierecke bei Rothko sehr wolkig sind.
Die Farben von Amsterdam trocknen mit diesem Glanz auf (seidenmatt), und der Bronze-Schimmer hilft auch mit. Liebe Grüße und eine schöne Woche, Inga 🌸🌺🙋🏻♀️
ich finde, gerade die dunklen Farbtöne im Hintergrund für das Bild wichtig, denn sie vermitteln mir den Eindruck von Tiefe, von Dreidimensionalität. die türkisen und roten Tupfer/Striche schweben quasi vor dem dunklen Hintergrund.
Herzlichen Dank, denn genauso ist es! Ohne die beiden dunklen Flächen wären die oben liegenden Tupfen nicht so intensiv und tatsächlich dreidimensional. Das dunkle Grün wirkt beinahe schwarz, diese Kombination werde ich mir mal merken. Viele Grüße, Inga 😊

Mann könnte doch eigentlich,wenn das fertige Bild einem nach gewisser Zeit nicht mehr zusagt,wieder abhängen und überarbeiten.(Ich mein so allgemein die Rakel Bilder)
