This Rabbi is so good . This is the 5th rabbi I heard on heaven and hell . But… he was the best . I wish I could go to synagogue with this man ! I still Love Jesus . But I love listening to the pearls this man gives .
The main problem with the concept of eternal hell in Christianity is that if a human can forgive another human for a horrible thing they did to them, then God has to be able to as well, because God is described as being more forgiving than any human.
I was a Christian for almost 30 years. I never believed in their concept of hell and I didn't believe you needed Jesus to get to.heaven so maybe I wasn't a REAL Christian. Even when I identified as a Christian I knew hell was invented to control the masses. Fear is a hecl of a motivator!
The Hell doctrine of Christianity was something I never could wrap my head around. Eternal torment for 80 years of not believing always seemed awfully cruel for such a loving Christian G-d.
I too had difficulty with Hell doctrine until I realized that people who reject God (not believe in Him) CONTINUE to REJECT and NOT BELIEVE for all eternity. God WILL NOT force them to accept Him.
It may seem harsh, but the thing i think people get wrong is that its about the demons, the fallen angels, the "other gods" of pagan religions. they went against their creator and despite having life spans that make us look like insects, continue to fight their creator and his little humans whom they can bully because they are far more powerful than us. We just choose to do the same thing and many choose to worship the enemy or ourselves or whatever else we could desire (do people actually worship a flying spaghetti monster?) And thus we are cast out of the kingdom of Hashem forever, because nothing could ever prove to us that we were wrong because humanity is pure evil at this point. Same with the demons. I also dont think anyone can truly know if they are on the right path because satan has edited everything by this point, plus human memories, sight, and hearts are subjective and cannot be trusted. -some idiot on the internet (aka me)
Great talk - thank-you, Rabbi. Sorry about all the troll comments................most all of your talks attract intelligent, genuine people wanting to understand. You are GREATLY appreciated out here in the wilds of the Great Lakes!
This is a refreshingly nuanced perspective. The doctrine of hell is one of the main reasons I started questioning my Christian roots and eventually left the faith. The idea that in a short period of time you see how you lived and could have lived better makes much more sense. It sounds a lot more like actual justice than the eternal punishment taught in the evangelical world. Thank you for the words.
Temporary Hell can still work within a Christian worldview. The Lake of Fire only appears in Revelation and the unrighteous dead are in Hades not Hell. The unevangelized, the uncertain, those who were ignorant or picked the wrong religion are all being given a second chance. Evangelicals threw out this doctrine because it encouraged spiritual laziness but that doesn't make it less true.
@@storba3860 Yes. As a Christian myself, I am convinced that the final destination for the lost is the death of the soul. Jesus said 'Do not fear man who can kill the body, but fear God who can destroy both body and soul in Gahenna.' Revelation 20 tells us that the lake of fire is the 2nd death. The only beings that the phrase 'tormented day and night forever and ever' is concerning the dragon, beast and false prophet. Unfortunately, modern Christianity has been influenced by Dante's Inferno, which was influenced by Greek and Roman mythology.
@@truthtransistorradio6716: You need to realize, research, and accept, that NOWHERE did God ever mention the "Jesus" character to us, NOWHERE did He tell us that we need to be "saved", and NOWHERE did He tell us that He requires HUMAN BLOOD (a purely pagan ritual that God ABHORS!!) as atonement for our sins. NO FURTHER SCRIPTURES were given to mankind by God AFTER Mt. Sinai, therefore, Christianity absolutely did NOT come from God! PLEASE buy a Hebrew Bible (says "Stone Edition TANACH" on the cover), and Rabbi Tovia Singer's books, as well as Rabbi Stuart Federow's book "Judaism and Christianity: A Contrast", to help you understand why Christianity absolutely did NOT come from God.
Why did I get the feeling there was more to hell than what the rabbi was willing to mention? If jews spend 12 months in hell regretting what he couldn’t done in this life’s, what happens to non-Jews?
We don't have hell. Closest is gehennim which is equivalent of purgatory. We all go there for between 1 second and 12 months depending. Seriously this is what judaism believes.
Rabbi Tovia I am so glad that I stumbled upon your videos! They are so enlightening. I listened to a couple of other rabbis on this subject , and was so confused! Some said, there is no heaven or hell. Others said, it’s not in the Torah so we don’t know. Yet another rabbi said that Jews believe in reincarnation! Then I spoke with a very learned jewish lady, and she said she doesn’t believe in evil, or heaven and hell. Another rabbi refered to God as SHE...I was so utterly confused! I have just began studying about Judaism, and these topics are some of the major beliefs in all faiths I’ve studied. Prior to Judaism, I’d never encountered a faith that was so nebulous about these very important beliefs; where even the religious leaders had conflicting ideas about them. Honestly, I found it a bit disturbing...You’re message is more consistent with what I’ve always believed but, why are you the only rabbi I’m hearing it from??
If I may…Rabbi Singer speaks from a Tenach perspective…meaning the Word of HaShem. The others may have been Conservative, Reform, Reconstructionist rabbis where they are into philosophy and that man wrote the Torah or it was inspired by G-D. Rabbi Singer and Torah observant Jews believe that it is ALL from G-D. The Torah was ALL Given by HaShem to THREE MILLION Jews at the foot of Mt Sinai…National revelation! Only time in the history of the world. What our prophets wrote was given to them directly by G-D Who Gave them their prophecy directly to their minds in a dream or dreamlike state. The only prophet who was fully cognizant when HaShem Spoke to him was Moshe. That is why Moshe is called the greatest prophet who ever lived.
Okay, David help me with this....this is Rabbi Tovia, right? Rabbi means Teacher, right? So, you mean to tell me that a teacher doesn't know what the Tanakh and Torah teaches on Heaven and Hell? You mean to tell me he doesn't know that the bible tells you whether a person can know whether they go to heaven and hell? This is explained in the Tanakh (old covenant) and The New Covenant. How doesn't he know this? You call him your teacher? How great is your learning!
I love Rabbi Singer because his work freed me from Christian mind control. It led me back to my Jewish roots. Yet, I was listening to an Orthodox Rabbi the other day and he was teaching the law if one violates the sabbath. Allegedly God told Moses that the punishment is stoning, then being thrown of a cliff, then having your skull and brain bashed in to death with the largest stone one could find. Now objectively ask yourself that if someone lit a Marlboro on the sabbath that God literally told Moses to God stone him, throw him off a cliff, and bash his brains in… is that God? It’s governance by fear which is understandable to control and lead a population away from Egyptian slavey but that is not God. Also, it clearly says Moses and the 72 elders LOOKED at God and his feet as God levitated on a blue lighted structure…it says they ate and looked at God and that they should have been killed but they were not… it also says anyone who approached the mountain had to since and clean several times… to me that sounds exactly like decontamination. Something is not right… we must filter out the true of our ancestors and the record they wrote and figure out what is really going on.
You need to call in and talk to Rabbi Singer with your questions and concerns. Writing that comment here will bring no satisfying reply as you can see in the last nine month. He would probably welcome the opportunity speak to this.
I think you might’ve misunderstood the verse in hebrews where you talked about not being able to come back after leaving Christianity after being saved that verse seems to be talking about baptism also Peter came back after denying Jesus 10 times without a problem it seems it’s only talking about getting baptized multiple times also I read Isaiah 22:14 and couldn’t find what you were talking about when you referred to forgiveness of sins after death hopefully you can clarify?
And they say: “The Fire (on the Day of Resurrection) shall not touch us but for a few numbered days”. (We will burn as much as our sins, then we will leave it in order to go into Paradise). Say: “Have you taken a covenant from Allah, so that Allah will not break His Covenant? Or do you speak against Allah what you do not know”? Quran 2:80
"Your" Allah is the same God in Judaism and Christianity. Whichever tradition is right, all recognize their God as merciful. What I can forgive, so can God. The "fire of resurrection" could be like an infection that burns out our sins. Indeed, medical science has been looking at infectious diseases to kill cancer. It could be more like chemotherapy or radiation treatment.
My understanding is that there is actually no reference to any sphere such as Hell or an Afterlife in the Hebrew Bible. The nearest is Shaol which is ambiguous. Judiasm became interested in Hell and Resurrection towards the end of The Second Temple Period. The Pharasees became interested in a resurrection, but the Sadducees rejected the belief. Perhaps this is why contemporary orthodox Judaism relies on the Talmad when it comes to constructs about an afterlife.
Hello rabbi great shiur! But what about the Talmud and Zohar mention of Ghenom when it says that some have punishment of Karet when the Neshama(soul ) will be destroyed and also that only Din shamayim (the judgment ) is 12 months but the sentencing can be even eternity for some sins how would you view it as ? Toda raba rabbi , am Israel chai
Sorry , I don’t understand how this explains the notion of purgatory? This passage clearly states that death brings atonement . “But ADONAI -Tzva’ot revealed in my ears: “Surely this sin will not be atoned for until you die,” says my Lord ADONAI -Tzva’ot.” Isaiah 22:14
It is easier to find God within,as a force to do good and to be humane,to reach out to the needy. The feeling of heavenly bliss in doing so and the qualms of conscience in hurting someone are strong motivating factors.
That text says nothing about atonement after death. It simply says the dead will rise. Reading into the text an atonement after death is a gross error.
Isaiah 26:19 Thy dead men shall live, together with my dead body shall they arise. Awake and sing, ye that dwell in dust: for thy dew is as the dew of herbs, and the earth shall cast out the dead. There is a deeper meaning in this as well. They will rise that have Christ within them, which is the seed of the woman. 1Corinthians 15:35 But some man will say, How are the dead raised up? and with what body do they come? "together with my dead body" Christ within us. 1Corinthians 15:36 Thou fool, that which thou sowest is not quickened, except it die: 1Corinthians 15:37 And that which thou sowest, thou sowest not that body that shall be, but bare grain, it may chance of wheat, or of some other grain: 1Corinthians 15:38 But God giveth it a body as it hath pleased him, and to every seed his own body. When this creation ends our bodies and souls are dissolved. Psalm 75:2 When I shall receive the congregation I will judge uprightly. Psalm 75:3 The earth and all the inhabitants thereof are dissolved: I bear up the pillars of it. Selah. However something that is sown in us survives the dissolving and that something is called a seed. It is the seed of the woman, this creation. This seed is given a body at the resurrection.

@@dand1260, If Hell is a place of Torment, why was Jesus Christ in Hell before his resurrection? Genesis Chapter 3 verses 3-4 Wasn't it always about death, since the original sin? "but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat from it you will certainly die." Satan, "Eat it, Eve, YOU SHALL NOT SURELY DIE." [you will live in hell forever] traditional hell = believing the first lie of Satan himself, plainly shown in the word of God, from the very start.
@@dand1260 'Everlast'. May I assume you mean 'Everlasting'? This is what the English translation says. Not what the Hebrew says. Go with that. The English translations are often not great, very often more akin to a very distasteful joke.
I had heard that for a Gentile there is no advantage to converting to Judaism. Yet Rabbi Singer says Judaism has a kind of heaven and hell. So how will Gentiles be judged?
Both the NT and Tenach (to the lesser extent) talk about hell and heaven i.e. things that are unverifiable. So what is this unverifiable thing all about? I don't get it. What happens after death is anyways unverifiable for now and both the NT and Tenach talk about it to some extent. Then how is what Tenach talks verifiable and what NT talks unverifiable? We all know that no one knows for sure what will happen after death. It is all a wild guess.
+TheFhdude I see what you mean. Certainly there are things in both the Tanach and the NT which are not verifiable. I think if something is presented as eternal (especially with dire consequences) that has to be verifiable in order to have the ability to make an informed decision. For me, eternal damnation doesn't make any sense, because any minor misunderstanding of the (supposed) eternal hell would make people be stuck in a not so friendly place forever. And how does this (infinite) punishment measure up to the finite number of sins one can commit? This doesn't seem to be rightful. Yet the promise of the eternal hell if you miss the point is a very good catch that builds upon the fear of it. (For those who buy it, many people do...)
TheFhdude , the most verifiable claim of hell on the heavenly Earth is: Because of you! Therefore because of you, Zion shall be plowed like a field, Jerusalem shall become a heaps of ruins, And the mountain of the temple- like the bare hills of the forest. For I will send a famine on the land, says the Lord God, Not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, But of the hearing the words of The LORD. You shall wander from sea to sea, and from North to East. You shall run to and fro seeking the word of the LORD, But shall not find it. You shall eat, but not be satisfied. Hunger shall be in your midst! And what you do rescue I will give over to the sword. For Tyre built herself a tower, heaped up silver like dust, and gold like the mire of the streets." And if this is not enough for you to repent, after you are starved, destroyed for fighting against Jerusalem, final death shall be the plaque for all people, when: " your flesh shall dissolve while you standing on your feet, your eyes shall dissolve in their sockets, and your tongue shall dissolve in your mouth. "( you get the same result with funeral or in the furnace) Such results also observe on the horse and the mule, on the camel or the donkey, and on all the cattle that will be in those camps. None shall escape! Vie my mislete.
He was talking about the moments when God makes threats in the Jewish scripture. All of those threats are verifiable things (if you don't act right, there will be no rain, you'll be expelled from your land, etc...) All of those things are verifiable cause they happen while people are still alive to see that happening. The point the Rabbi is making is that we don't see God threatening people with the afterlife in the hebrew bible.
Not really. What is written in Tenach ALL comes from HaShem, The CREATOR, The ONE and ONLY G-D…by His Word in Torah and through His Prophets who received His Word in dreams or dreamlike state. It’s all from Him. The xian bible is man written…narishkeit/nonsense!
Why would the Psalms say that fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom? In fact the Old Testament stresses various times to fear God.If we don't fear Gods judgment (Hell) what is there to fear?
I was baptised Christian as a child but left the Catholic Church many years ago due to irreconcilable differences. The concept of the Trinity never made any sense for me. Nobody can force me to believe in something that is incoherent to me, not even with the threat of going to hell (I ask myself why would they threat people at all - does the religion not have enough persuasiveness that they need psychological pressure???). So I’m not part of a religious community. I believe however that there is one God who wants me to be a good and kind person which I strive for, because I’m convinced it’s the right thing.
Does God talk about things that can't be verified or not? Tanach says "No, He does not". Then; If He doesn't and he NT talks about it, then it is false. If He doesn't and the Oral Torah talks about it, then it is false. Which is it?
"There is no one righteous" David says this a number of times in the Psalms, Solomon repeats this at the time of dedication of the first Temple. Ie. ALL are sinners. A sinner is cursed ( Deuteronomy 27.26) That is where God Jesus comes in. John 3.16 It's more about Life Eternal than Hell or Hades or Sheol.
The biggest draw to Christianity is that salvation is assured to all believers. Which is very comforting to those who’ve messed up in life and are remorseful.
It's very debatable that salvation is assured in Christianity. Some Christians believe once-saved-always-saved and some Christians don't believe that. Also there is the "unpardonable sin" that once committed there's no chance of salvation.
@@57cactus1 The unpardonable sin is to attribute the acts of Jesus and the Holy Spirit to satan. Which is unpardonable because if you truly believe that then it’s impossible for you to be a Christian. Once saved always saved is true only if you maintain faith until your death.
@@isaacwojo3273 The unpardonable sin does not involve Jesus. Luke 12:10 “And everyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man, it will be forgiven him; but the one who blasphemes against the Holy Spirit, it will not be forgiven him.”
With all my due respect to Rabbi Tovia, but the video was not clear about heavens and hell. Too much speculation and assumptions. Since it can not be verified about who went to heavens or who went to hell. Ummm, I will stick to my belief about this. I know the Tanakh teaches about destruction of the soul. The soul who sins will die. The soul who doesn't repent will be punished and destroyed either on this earth or at judgment day. Just like those angels who sinned to take wives from earth or those people who sinned from Sodom and Gomorrah and Abba sent judgment to be destroyed to never exist. According to Torah , there are people who are just destined to "destruction' period. In other words, some people are just set aside for destruction for their evil deeds and sins. Just like those israelites who committed sins which deserved death or cut off of the land.
in Isiah in the 66th chapter the last versus of that chapter he describes hell. he says the worms will eat their bodies and will not die and the fire that burns them will not be quenched. The new testament describes the same.
Not exactly. We are body, soul and spirit. Our spirit is not in the form of man and is rather featureless and therefore called a worm. See, Job 25:4-6, Psalm 22:6, Isaiah 41:14. Or read my post elsewhere to this video on this.
Proverbs 20:27 The spirit of man is the candle (lamp) of the LORD, searching all the inward parts of the belly. Man's spirit is not a lamp. The Lord uses it as a lamp. Psalm 22:6 But I am a worm, and no man; a reproach of men, and despised of the people. Rationalize this as you want but know that rationalizations always show lack of understanding. This person has lost his body and soul in hell. Matthew 10:28 And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell. And yet he is not saying, but I am now only a spirit, and no man. He is saying that he is a worm. And Job 25:6 agrees. Job 25:6 How much less man, that is a worm? and the son of man, which is a worm? What this means is ... Job 25:5 Behold even to the moon, and it shineth not; yea, the stars are not pure in his sight. ... this creation is corrupt and has an expiration date called the day of the Lord, 2Peter 3:10-13. On that day if the Lord does not help us then all that will be left of us is our worm. To say that all that will be left of us is our sin is impossible. Sin will not survive into eternity. Sin has no physical component. Sin is a state we are in now. Once the unsaved are in the lake of fire sin becomes irrelevant. How noble is a spirit spending eternity in the lake of fire? They are no longer in a state of sin. Sin is what got them there. They may be in a state of regret over what they had lost. What remains is a spirit and is only called a worm. I choose to stay with the plain meaning rather some rationalization.
very idiots every one know if you die you go to the ground you become dust and worms will eat your body, and the fire is the anger of G-d that make you to dust!...G-d said if you die you become dust! and the worms will ea your bodyt! the science proof that the jewish bible is truth! ...you christian is a mystical magic religion an egypt
if there is hell and heaven than jesus him self is a liar, jesus said that everyone will be judge at the end of time !, if heaven and hell exist than the judgement is already take place. so why the hell jesus judge people by send them to the fire after they are dead and than at end of time he will resurrected them again to be judge! and send them to fire again! so idiots doctrine!
I am a Christian, but I reject eternal conscious torment. I believe in Conditional Immorality. That the souls of those not found in the book of life will perish/die! Right now, dead souls are in Sheol/Hades awaiting for the ressurection to the final judgement.
When i asked god what to do since i was atheist didnt really know much about religion but god revealed himself to me with one on his right and one on his left as they looked down upon the universe he told me to be benevolent he awnsered me twice once before i asked and then again when i asked. I also asked what was the true name of our messiah and he said i already know the name so i promise you that jesus is the messiah indeed. I was also shown heaven every one is about 30 years of age and everyone has some one via wife and no tattoos. But i wasn't shown any faces. And i promise you this god is a kind and loving god. Hard to believe in such a thing as hell it's probably more of a cleansing process and sucks.
the premise is wrong because there is unified "christian" view of hell .There are Christians who believe in eternal damnation (burning forever in fire)and those who do not believe in that (and believe that evil people will be destroyed once and for all at once).
Hello Rabbi Tovia Singer, Eugene here with my thoughts. Humanity has always held to the belief that justice, tempered with mercy, is a necessary aspect of the natural order of our existence. How this "reality" is accomplished is and has been, a matter of debate. It is almost universally agreed that the system requires some kind of "final judgement" overseen by a "fair and just Judge". For myself, I believe that we humans will be subjected to a final "purifying fire" that will burn up all impurities". What is left will continue, and if nothing is left, nothing will continue. In the garbage dumps of history there are many things that did not need to be thrown away, some because they were still useful and others because they could have been repaired. There are some things in garbage dumps that belong there because they are beyond repair and are actually dangerous to our survival. Because it is obvious that during our lifetime, justice was not experienced, it seems only right that there will be a time coming, when it will be experienced, otherwise, justice is just a myth. I would also like to say that there seems to be a present day "refining fire" that does it's work between the time of our birth and the time of our physical death. It is very important to realize that not all our troubles are retributions for our "sins". Thanks for letting me share these thoughts.
Hashem has been so merciful to me. But I have a war in my head that makes me feel not forgiven. But the most high says if we repent and turn back to him that he will forgive Us. I am haunted by my past a life in being pagan and heathen. I pray for all and my children that I bring up in just believing You say a pray and can live the way You want and this is not true. Deuteronomy 24:16 say that a father cannot die for the sins of the son and vice versa. Let’s pray for truth and that all will walk in the way of Torah. Please pray for me and my adult children.
I researched the answer to your question about how to get into heaven. Worshipping the trinity is an absolute sure guarantee to wind up in hell for a finite time until the soul is finally extinguished for eternity as trinity worship is committing both adultery as well as idolatry. Trinity worship is also a guaranteed way to violate the first commandment: “You shall not have the gods of others in My presence.” Deuteronomy 13:1 “Everything I command you that you shall be careful to do it. You shall neither add to it, nor subtract from it.” Then you might ask what you can do to increase your chances of getting in to heaven. Deuteronomy 6: 8. “And you shall bind them for a sign upon your hand, and they shall be for ornaments between your eyes.” It is interesting to note that most English translations of the Bible have removed Deuteronomy 13:1 and renumbered the sentences in Deuteronomy 13 without Deuteronomy 13:1.
hell is sheol which is the common grave of man, no hellfire, the lake of fire is the 2nd death, death is the absence of life Ecc 9:5 plsalms 146:4 thoughts perish Jesus said that Gehenna is destruction of both body and soul.Matt 28:10

The Hell fire is 70 times hotter than regular fire you cook with. Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said, "Your (ordinary) fire is one of 70 parts of the (Hell) Fire." Someone asked, "O Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) This (ordinary) fire would have been sufficient (to torture the unbelievers)," Allah's Apostle said, "The (Hell) Fire has 69 parts more than the ordinary (worldly) fire, each part is as hot as this (worldly) fire." We understand the Torah provides the direction on how to live and to live rightly because it is right. We understand prophecy as it's begun in Torah and continues in through the writings and prophets. The Christian Testament is (in that form) just further exposition within the framing of what it's intended to communicate. If Jesus fulfilled the Law and the Prophets it is within the character of G-d to say what comes next. G-d always spoke of what would come next. We can recall that Daniel speaks of the final resurrection, which is expounded upon in the Christian Testament. I understand that I rambled, but I don't see the conflict between Judaism and Christianity within the frame that the Christian Testament exposits more on the afterlife than the Prophets. Some prophets gave us more information than others, and the Gospels of the Christian Testament are all written after one: Jesus. So if Daniel's life had been recorded 4 times we'd have 4x the amount of statements on the resurrection. Since the Tanakh has different forms of writing, different purposes, and varying degrees of revelation, I see no conflict in the Christian testament following that trend by offering further exposition
The Rabbi is incorrect. You have to worship God whilst you are alive, it is the first commandment. Sin cannot be atoned for after death. I have met two people who were in comas and left their bodies and headed towards the darkness. They were atheists but called out to God and were saved. Note they were in comas and had a chance to call out but had they actually died without God they would have gone to Hell. Read Ian McCormack, New Zealander, diver's testimony. It is truly amazing.

i don't get it? so judaism doesn't stress on the fact that belief in god is necessary? if there is no hell to deterr them from disbelief then what is the point of religion or of existing? What does judaism really teach about heaven and hell and what does he mean it's not verifiable?
Mider999 what he means is, what is the reward for being obedient to God and depriving ourselves in this life of pleasures considered sinful, if we ask eventually go to a heaven anyway... Basically according to Jews, even Hitler will go to heaven after his soul will be cleansed. It makes no sense because then one could think "hell is only temporary, so therefore I can sin ask I want and I will still go to heaven" which is completely against what God teaches us. Jehovah's witnesses are this way too only they go the other way and say there is no heaven or hell and when we die, we die... So then, what is the point of being good if we ask her the same reward in the end? That's like handing out participation rewards at a children's softball game... Whether you played the game or sat on a bench the whole time and did nothing, you all get a trophy, so then, what is the point in playing? Or trying to even win? I was really concerned about my belief in Jesus whether it is idolatry or not but according to focus, I shouldn't worry because I can go to heaven anyway..... So why should I worry about it I'm practicing idolatry?
@@jamesvan2201 If you're only trying to be good for the sake of gaining the carrot of heaven and avoiding the stick of hell, I'd argue your heart's not in the right place. Rabbi is honest by saying he is not sure whats its all about after death and that torah is silent or vague with details of afterlife. If we are not sure of the past and even present how would we be any sure of afterlife. Its all about wishful thinking in the absence of any solid and credible proof. The most we can do is give our personal opinions as rabbi is doing here according to our beliefs and expectations.
So even though ouch, with the massive amount of hell based talk that is supposedly in the Bible... which I don't read... I thank you very much for explaining the Jewish perspective on Geheinom. While I believe in Jesus being the Passover Lamb for the world, I don't believe in the Hell that the church would like you to believe in. Mostly because that's not what I read at all when I read the Bible. Because how can a God who's love and wisdom is so much greater than our own, condemn anyone to a burning hell to burn for eternity... Makes no sense and again is not what I read in the Bible either. Aeon is a time with a beginning and an end. It's not Eternal. I was very interested to find the scriptures from the Tenakh which talk about it. So again, thank you so much.
So - why does Paul never mention the hell, but Jesus does (about 20 by my count). Because Paul wrote in Greek to Christians in Asia Minor, Greece, Rome etc. Paul didn’t use hades, as the Greek language implied it was a place of lost wandering souls. So, Paul never used it because it’s a non-Christian concept. Then why did Jesus use it. He didn’t !! Jesus spoke Hebrew or Aramaic and would have used she’owl - which his Jewish audience knew full well was just the grave - cessation of life. It wasn’t until some 40 years later that the gospels were written in Greek, and hades was used, causing much confusion. The only other word Jesus used for ‘hell-fire’ is gehenna - a literal rubbish tip outside Jerusalem. No eternal hell ever implied.

Gemorah teaches of three particular sins that disable the offenders leaving hell. As to what those sins are the answer is guaranteed to shock and stun. But once thought upon this makes perfect sense. Has to do with the effect of the sin continually renewing itself. Hints? Loshon hora and nicknames. WHO KNEW? Speech Laws. So to some of you I say,,,,,dont worry, let them talk. A wickedness the offender isnt even aware of. G-d has it covered and is just, even if this world cant even come close to understanding. Liberal marshmallows simply saying that uttering hurtful things isnt very nice and its sooo mean just doesnt cut it. Man doesnt understand nor does he glimpse the power of word. Many people suffer IN THIS LIFE after engaging in Loshon Hora WHILE THEY LIVE and dont even know why or see the connection,,,, And then they have hell to look forward to.
*natalie gist:* Jews don't even THINK about the "mark of the beast", because that is a false concept that comes from the Christian "New Testament", which is NOT from God, therefore anything that comes out of it is false and irrelevant. PLEASE do some honest research on the origins of Christianity, and you will discover, as we have, that it did NOT come from God, Creator of the universe.
Christians, like 99.99% of them, do not understand Christianity. And by that I mean true Christianity. 2Thessalonians 1:8 In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ: 2Thessalonians 1:9 Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power; This is pure Judaism in its deeper meaning and is clear in the old testament. Daniel 12:1 And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book. Daniel 12:2 And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt. Only many are resurrected. What happens to those that are not resurrected at this time? What time is this? Isaiah 34:4 And all the host of heaven shall be dissolved, and the heavens shall be rolled together as a scroll: and all their host shall fall down, as the leaf falleth off from the vine, and as a falling fig from the fig tree. Isaiah 24:19 The earth is utterly broken down, the earth is clean dissolved, the earth is moved exceedingly. Isaiah 24:20 The earth shall reel to and fro like a drunkard, and shall be removed like a cottage; and the transgression thereof shall be heavy upon it; and it shall fall, and not rise again. This is plain and clear. One can easily understand why a resurrection will be needed after the dissolving, destruction by fire. There is the seed of the woman and the seed of the serpent. The seed of the serpent are not resurrected. This creation is dissolved and becomes the lake of fire. The seed of the serpent are dissolved, body and soul, and not resurrected. Yet their spirit survives in the lake of fire forever separated from God. The scriptures call this spirit a worm. Job 25:4 How then can man be justified with God? or how can he be clean that is born of a woman? Job 25:5 Behold even to the moon, and it shineth not; yea, the stars are not pure in his sight. Job 25:6 How much less man, that is a worm? and the son of man, which is a worm? Without the gift of God meaning this creation all man is, is a worm. This person is separated from God. Psalm 22:1 My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? why art thou so far from helping me, and from the words of my roaring? These people are not separated from God and are delivered when this creation ends. Psalm 22:4 Our fathers trusted in thee: they trusted, and thou didst deliver them. Psalm 22:5 They cried unto thee, and were delivered: they trusted in thee, and were not confounded. But the unsaved. Psalm 22:6 But I am a worm, and no man; a reproach of men, and despised of the people. The unsaved lost their eternity with God that God gifted them with. Psalm 22:9 But thou art he that took me out of the womb: thou didst make me hope when I was upon my mother's breasts. Psalm 22:10 I was cast upon thee from the womb: thou art my God from my mother's belly. The gift was our lives and creation of our soul and body here on earth. That is when God became our God. Jacob need not fear losing this gift and just becoming a worm again. Because God will help them with a resurrection. Isaiah 41:14 Fear not, thou worm Jacob, and ye men of Israel; I will help thee, saith the LORD, and thy redeemer, the Holy One of Israel. And Jacob will not end up like one of these that are not saved. Isaiah 66:24 And they shall go forth, and look upon the carcases of the men that have transgressed against me: for their worm shall not die, neither shall their fire be quenched; and they shall be an abhorring unto all flesh. They are fire spirits that have lost all human form and live in the lake of fire forever, forever separated from God. The deeper truth of the Christian scriptures is Judaism's deeper knowledge revealed. But you must have a deeper understanding to see it! Here it is again in the Christian scriptures. Matthew 10:28 And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell. Mark 9:43 And if thy hand offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter into life maimed, than having two hands to go into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched: Mark 9:44 Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched. Mark 9:45 And if thy foot offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter halt into life, than having two feet to be cast into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched: Mark 9:46 Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched. Mark 9:47 And if thine eye offend thee, pluck it out: it is better for thee to enter into the kingdom of God with one eye, than having two eyes to be cast into hell fire: Mark 9:48 Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.

The main problem with the concept of eternal hell in Christianity is that if a human can forgive another human for a horrible thing they did to them, then God has to be able to as well, because God is described as being more forgiving than any human.
Sometimes we don't recognize the causes of mental illness, traumatic upbringing, or mental insufficiency common among criminals.

The Hell doctrine of Christianity was something I never could wrap my head around. Eternal torment for 80 years of not believing always seemed awfully cruel for such a loving Christian G-d.
not just 80 years..its forever burning in hell
ULK CNN Yeah. I guess the Christian god is ok with cruel and unusual punishment.

EyesWideOpen 55 there’s a place in the world for all righteous people. We are all made in Gd’s image.
I pray someone will answer you!
What are the references mentioned at 6:55? I only understand Talmud 17 a but can't find it
As the book of Ezekiel says I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked
Does it not mean fire as in spiritual fire? The fire of God's spirit and truth?

Sorry , I don’t understand how this explains the notion of purgatory? This passage clearly states that death brings atonement .
“But ADONAI -Tzva’ot revealed in my ears: “Surely this sin will not be atoned for until you die,” says my Lord ADONAI -Tzva’ot.”
Isaiah 22:14
It is easier to find God within,as a force to do good and to be humane,to reach out to the needy. The feeling of heavenly bliss in doing so and the qualms of conscience in hurting someone are strong motivating factors.
Karet punishments seem very harsh in Judaism. Is that in the Torah?
Everything Rabbi Singer is awesome !!!!!!!!
Where is Rabbi quoting Isaiah at, that speaks of atonement after death?
Isaiah 26:19
1Corinthians 15:36 Thou fool, that which thou sowest is not quickened, except it die:
1Corinthians 15:37 And that which thou sowest, thou sowest not that body that shall be, but bare grain, it may chance of wheat, or of some other grain:
1Corinthians 15:38 But God giveth it a body as it hath pleased him, and to every seed his own body.

Steve Miller, 100% agree!
TheFhdude , the most verifiable claim of hell on the heavenly Earth is:
Because of you!
Therefore because of you, Zion shall be plowed like a field, Jerusalem shall become a heaps of ruins, And the mountain of the temple- like the bare hills of the forest.
For I will send a famine on the land, says the Lord God,
Not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, But of the hearing the words of The LORD. You shall wander from sea to sea, and from North to East. You shall run to and fro seeking the word of the LORD, But shall not find it.
You shall eat, but not be satisfied. Hunger shall be in your midst! And what you do rescue I will give over to the sword. For Tyre built herself a tower, heaped up silver like dust, and gold like the mire of the streets."
And if this is not enough for you to repent, after you are starved, destroyed for fighting against Jerusalem, final death shall be the plaque for all people, when:
" your flesh shall dissolve while you standing on your feet, your eyes shall dissolve in their sockets, and your tongue shall dissolve in your mouth. "( you get the same result with funeral or in the furnace)
Such results also observe on the horse and the mule, on the camel or the donkey, and on all the cattle that will be in those camps.
This view is more tolerable than the one christianity teaches.

We who do as God , are not so far form one as love in knowing God will take care of us all .
Does God talk about things that can't be verified or not? Tanach says "No, He does not".
Then;
If He doesn't and he NT talks about it, then it is false.
If He doesn't and the Oral Torah talks about it, then it is false.
Which is it?
You have to realize that the Rabbi is speaking on Judaism's stance, they do not even consider the NT.
The more we dwell into the unseen, the more hazy it gets. The fear of damnation exists in most belief systems.
"There is no one righteous"
David says this a number of times in the Psalms, Solomon repeats this at the time of dedication of the first Temple.
Ie. ALL are sinners.
A sinner is cursed ( Deuteronomy 27.26)
That is where God Jesus comes in.
John 3.16
It's more about Life Eternal than Hell or Hades or Sheol.
Psalm 9:17
The wicked shall return to Sheol, all the nations that forget God.
in Isiah in the 66th chapter the last versus of that chapter he describes hell. he says the worms will eat their bodies and will not die and the fire that burns them will not be quenched.
We need a rabbi to step up, and solve things.
You described Islam pretty closely lol come on over
the premise is wrong because there is unified "christian" view of hell .There are Christians who believe in eternal damnation (burning forever in fire)and those who do not believe in that (and believe that evil people will be destroyed once and for all at once).
And the parable of Lazarus and the Rich man seems to try to negate the problem of the unverifiability of the afterlife.

There’s also a second death after man dies, contradicting eternal torment.
I researched the answer to your question about how to get into heaven.
Worshipping the trinity is an absolute sure guarantee to wind up in hell for a finite time until the soul is finally extinguished for eternity as trinity worship is committing both adultery as well as idolatry. Trinity worship is also a guaranteed way to violate the first commandment: “You shall not have the gods of others in My presence.”
Deuteronomy 13:1 “Everything I command you that you shall be careful to do it. You shall neither add to it, nor subtract from it.”
Then you might ask what you can do to increase your chances of getting in to heaven.
Deuteronomy 6: 8. “And you shall bind them for a sign upon your hand, and they shall be for ornaments between your eyes.”
It is interesting to note that most English translations of the Bible have removed Deuteronomy 13:1 and renumbered the sentences in Deuteronomy 13 without Deuteronomy 13:1.
hell is sheol which is the common grave of man, no hellfire, the lake of fire is the 2nd death, death is the absence of life Ecc 9:5 plsalms 146:4 thoughts perish Jesus said that Gehenna is destruction of both body and soul.Matt 28:10

Hell has tramatised me and has served as the main reason for leaving christianity for judaism.
Rabbi What about The reichis Chochmah It Where people go for certain sins and The eternal 7th chamber which Alot of people qualify for unfortunately. ?
The Hell fire is 70 times hotter than regular fire you cook with.
Narrated Abu Huraira:
Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said, "Your (ordinary) fire is one of 70 parts of
the (Hell) Fire." Someone asked, "O Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) This
(ordinary) fire would have been sufficient (to torture the unbelievers),"
Allah's Apostle said, "The (Hell) Fire has 69 parts more than the ordinary
(worldly) fire, each part is as hot as this (worldly) fire."

so will we see God in heaven? (I don't think it's logical because God has no form and non-physical)!
I think you won’t see god but become one with god, eternal bliss.
We understand the Torah provides the direction on how to live and to live rightly because it is right.
This show quran is the part 3 of torah...more deeper and clear view
The Rabbi is incorrect. You have to worship God whilst you are alive, it is the first commandment. Sin cannot be atoned for after death. I have met two people who were in comas and left their bodies and headed towards the darkness. They were atheists but called out to God and were saved. Note they were in comas and had a chance to call out but had they actually died without God they would have gone to Hell. Read Ian McCormack, New Zealander, diver's testimony. It is truly amazing.
Terrible interpretation of the book of Hebrews on the issue of Salvation.

i don't get it? so judaism doesn't stress on the fact that belief in god is necessary? if there is no hell to deterr them from disbelief then what is the point of religion or of existing? What does judaism really teach about heaven and hell and what does he mean it's not verifiable?
Why do they need threats to get you to believe it?
This one has really opened my mind...
There are other gospel writers paul is not the only writer

*natalie gist:* Jews don't even THINK about the "mark of the beast", because that is a false concept that comes from the Christian "New Testament", which is NOT from God, therefore anything that comes out of it is false and irrelevant. Christians, like 99.99% of them, do not understand Christianity. And by that I mean true Christianity.
2Thessalonians 1:8 In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ:
2Thessalonians 1:9 Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power;
This is pure Judaism in its deeper meaning and is clear in the old testament.
Mark 9:43 And if thy hand offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter into life maimed, than having two hands to go into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched:
Mark 9:44 Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.
Mark 9:45 And if thy foot offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter halt into life, than having two feet to be cast into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched:
Mark 9:46 Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.
Mark 9:47 And if thine eye offend thee, pluck it out: it is better for thee to enter into the kingdom of God with one eye, than having two eyes to be cast into hell fire:
Mark 9:48 Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.
