I'm so glad i grew up in the sixties and seventies. The music, the instruments, the awesome voices...No auto tune needed. Such a beautiful time to be alive! ♥️
One of my favorite singers of all time. My ex and I would play his albums every night until we were too tired to stay up. He is a Class Act who made beautiful mood music. His voice is very distinct and sooo sooo good. Thank you for the memories.
Loved Lou Rawls. Besides being a great talent, he was a really good guy. He did an annual telethon to raise money for United Negro College Fund (UNCF) and he raised millions for them. Sadly he passed away at age 72 of lung cancer. He was a giant and he is missed.. One of his great songs was Dead End Street, which was about Chicago, the Windy City. Thanks for reacting to Lou Rawls. Gone but not forgotten. 👏👏🥰🇨🇦

Now I know why my Mom went crazy for his voice. I was too young to appreciate Lou Rawls incredible vocals such depth and richness. Passion and emotion I get it Mom, oh do I get it Great reaction as always. It's such a pleasure watching you get into the music Love and Blessings 🎵💜🎶
What was so great growing up in the 70's listening to pop radio, in a 30 minute stretch you would here all genre's of music, there would be a Lou Rawls song, Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody, then a Willie Nelson country song , the Motown Stevie Wonder and finally a Donna Summer disco song. Seems these days young people only listen to one style of music.
Love it. Great choice to respond to. I urge you to go way back and try Stormy Monday or I’m gonna Move To The Outskirts Of Town with Lou and Les MCcann.
This is such a great song. Remember when it came out in 1976. Lou Rawls was a great R&B singer with such a smooth rich deep voice. Some of his best songs are "Love Is A Hurtin' Thing", "Dead End Street", "Groovy People", "Your Good Thing (Is About To End)", "Show Business", "Natural Man", "She's Gone", "Lady Love", "Let Me Be Good To You" etc.
Deep and rich voice perfectly describes Barry White! "Can't Get Enough of Your Love Babe" or "My First My Last My Everything" would be a great introduction to the man whose music was responsible for a whole lot of births!
Lou Rawls was a real human. Early career includes touring with Sam Cooke and backing on his recordings. I really like his earlier jazz type stuff, but his later stuff like this is great. Natural Man might be his most famous, but I love Tobacco Road and those other live recordings. Just as great a human offstage. Look him up,
My very good friend Kevin (68) is here, he has watched many of your reactions... He Said.... "I like this guy's way of breaking down a song from all aspects music and lyrics. He's real good at it.
*Lou had a fascinating life as well as voice. In the 1950s, he was an Army parachuter. In 1958, he was pronounced dead following a car accident with the legendary San Cooke, but was revived! But he had amnesia for MONTHS. You would also love Barry White! Those two were GOATs of the genre!*
I love Lou Rawls! He's one of the smoothest OG's for sure! I was really looking forward to see your reaction when Lou started singing and you didn't disappoint.
Since you're digging the oldies please enjoy this classic gem from 1970 called Tighter and Tighter by the group Alive and Kicking. Guaranteed to turn on that thousand watt smile 😁
Living in what I call the "Saturated Suburbs" of Orange County Calif in the 70s there were several clubs that catered to different groups. Some were Hard Rock with Live bands, some were more pop music and dance floors were crowded, some were country music with the Hats & Boots, Line dancing... some were the clubs that had the MOTOWN - R&B music and mostly blacks crowded the floors and I must say they did the best dancing with some of the greatest music. I LOVED going to all the various places. favorites were the Classic Rock and the "Black Is Beautiful" clubs. It all started to change in the late 80s..... Bummer. Those were the best days for music.

Great to see your review! Lou Rawls and Barry White are awesome vocalists from back then. What a voice that guy had and that’s from a 61 year old rock and roller. Lots of great music back then.
wow! Such a rabbit hole with one. Been a huge fan for years. There's so much for you to listen to. Frank Sinatra called Lou Rawls "Mr Smooth" Frank was right on t he money. If you more suggestions. Let us know. You'll get the popular radio hits, "Lady Love", "See When I Get There", "Unforgettable" (cover), "Groovy People",which are great, but it goes so much deeper like " Lets Fall in Love (all over again) and speaking of Frank "ALL THE WAY" "cover" and "Pure Inagination" Willie Wonka" cover. There's a ton more! Thanks for the great react/review. Always enjoy your input.
lol, there was no situation… some songwriter came up with the lyrics, and Lou sang it… Pretty well he did, to convince you it was him singing that song to someone in his life.
Lou Rawls is one of my favorite artists. His voice is su unique ❤
Back in the 70s, Lou was one of the top performers and artists in the world. He was Mr. Smooth.
I'm so glad i grew up in the sixties and seventies. The music, the instruments, the awesome voices...No auto tune needed. Such a beautiful time to be alive! ♥️

57 now, and I couldn't agree more! Mom and Dad listened to some great music!
Yes. In Jr High School. I'm 61 also and this has been one of my favorite songs since then. What an incredible music era to grow up in.
All we need to hear is "You'll never find" and we know he owns those words with his deep rich voice.
Love his music.....legend he was
I was still in jr. high school when this came out. Mr. Rawls was the essence of cooler than the other side of the pillow, yup just like Billy Dee 😸❤

Saw Lou Rawls at the county fair about 20 years ago. Great show and we got to sit close. Nothing like a corn dog, a beer and Lou Rawls.
