Jurassic Park at 50 is a crime. To me, it arrived before CGI could do what it did, it also didn’t crap all over the better novel it was inspired by. To me, it was the Wizard of Oz for my generation - it captured the imagination, I believed dinosaurs could come back Deserves better than 50

I freaking teared up when Schindler’s List’s two freaking scenes that were played came on. I very recently saw that movie for the first time. It is one of the most well made movies I have ever seen and in a weird way it probably is the best movie I have ever seen

I got some honorable mentions: - Toy Story 2: This is the epitome of a perfect sequel that changed Disney sequels from merely being direct to video to high quality theatrical masterpieces. - Harry Potter franchise: While not necessarily groundbreaking like a lot of other movies around the time, this franchise does one of the best jobs at adapting a book series to the screen. Granted, the movies do leave out several important details from the books, but you feel absolutely charmed by the fantastical Wizarding World. - The Hunger Games franchise: Another well adapted book to movie franchise which teaches great life lessons and serves as a cautionary tale of what our world might become. - Who Framed Roger Rabbit: Another Robert Zemeckis classic that not only blends live action and animation so flawlessly, but celebrates the golden age of cartoons. This is still the only time Mickey Mouse and Bugs Bunny have ever been onscreen together. - Sam Ramai Spider-Man Trilogy: In the wake of 9/11, the 2002 film was exactly what the United States needed for respite. Not only that, but the Ramai Trilogy is largely seen as the birth of modern superhero movies. Plus, Spider-Man 2 in particular is commonly up there for one of the best superhero movies ever. - The Incredibles: Everything you could possibly want in an animated movie: fun action scenes, quotable moments, awesome musical score, and lovable characters. You don't need Marvel or DC properties to make an awesome superhero movie. - WALL-E: Pixar has produced plenty of masterpieces, but they can make one with minimal dialogue, making you fall in love with adorable robots. Plus, it's another cautionary tale imploring us to take care of our world. There's a good reason why WALL-E was added to the National Film Registry in 2021.
I’m usually defending Watchmojo lists as they are select peoples opinions, but the immediate ranking of Oppenheimer over Jurassic Park is insane. I don’t know how you can argue that Oppenheimer is a more defining film over the last 50 years than Jurassic Park. Continued listening and these baffling takes kept coming.

Movies from the last 50 years have more impact and longevity than modern movies. Don't get me wrong, there are plenty of good modern movies, but movies from 50 or less years have more heart and passion placed into them.

From 2024, we haven’t seen the full run yet bc we got months left but for rn I think Deadpool and Wolverine. Being a pop culture defining moment in the superhero drama allowing for fans and actors to relive what they have had or what they couldn’t have until now. We got to see a story with characters who needed that drive to fulfill their desires. They got what they needed even if it wasn’t what they wanted. All in a comedy film. It balance serious and goofy perfectly.

I waited at an AMC until midnight to see Blair Witch that summer because the film was so outrageously popular. Then I watched it and at 2am my friends and I wondered why we stayed up and traded both our time and money for that.

Empire Strikes Back being below The Social Network, The Blair Witch Project, The Breakfast Club, Mean Girls, Fury Road, Brokeback Mountain, The Big Lebowski, and Anchorman destroyed this list’s credibility and I love all those movies, but in terms of cultural impact it’s not even a discussion that ESB is one of the most impactful ever (I was expecting it in the top 5) Edit: I was watching live and I now see ANH is 1. Some redemption, but if they were going to do that, why bother with the sequel anyway? They didn’t with the Godfather where they only put the 2nd despite the first obviously being the more IMPACTFUL movie. Just a crazy list and I could critique other things.

I think The Lord Of The Rings: The Return Of The King is better than The Dark Knight I like, I don’t get why Top Gun Maverick would be close to the same level as ROTK.
Pulp Fiction was absolutely terrible. One of the worst movies I have seen in a long time. Outrageous dialogue that was so unnecessary. I have an issue with many of Quentin Tarantino’s films, especially this and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. I agree with the rest of the list tho

I freaking teared up when Schindler’s List’s two freaking scenes that were played came on. I very recently saw that movie for the first time. It is one of the most well made movies I have ever seen and in a weird way it probably is the best movie I have ever seen

I got some honorable mentions:
- Toy Story 2: This is the epitome of a perfect sequel that changed Disney sequels from merely being direct to video to high quality theatrical masterpieces.
- Harry Potter franchise: While not necessarily groundbreaking like a lot of other movies around the time, this franchise does one of the best jobs at adapting a book series to the screen. Granted, the movies do leave out several important details from the books, but you feel absolutely charmed by the fantastical Wizarding World.
- The Hunger Games franchise: Another well adapted book to movie franchise which teaches great life lessons and serves as a cautionary tale of what our world might become.
- Who Framed Roger Rabbit: Another Robert Zemeckis classic that not only blends live action and animation so flawlessly, but celebrates the golden age of cartoons. This is still the only time Mickey Mouse and Bugs Bunny have ever been onscreen together.
- Sam Ramai Spider-Man Trilogy: In the wake of 9/11, the 2002 film was exactly what the United States needed for respite. Not only that, but the Ramai Trilogy is largely seen as the birth of modern superhero movies. Plus, Spider-Man 2 in particular is commonly up there for one of the best superhero movies ever.
- The Incredibles: Everything you could possibly want in an animated movie: fun action scenes, quotable moments, awesome musical score, and lovable characters. You don't need Marvel or DC properties to make an awesome superhero movie.
- WALL-E: Pixar has produced plenty of masterpieces, but they can make one with minimal dialogue, making you fall in love with adorable robots. Plus, it's another cautionary tale imploring us to take care of our world. There's a good reason why WALL-E was added to the National Film Registry in 2021.

I’m usually defending Watchmojo lists as they are select peoples opinions, but the immediate ranking of Oppenheimer over Jurassic Park is insane. I don’t know how you can argue that Oppenheimer is a more defining film over the last 50 years than Jurassic Park. Continued listening and these baffling takes kept coming.
I recently watched _Mean Girls,_ one of my favorite movies, for my college English class on how literature ties in to leadership, and it still holds up 20 years later.

From 2024, we haven’t seen the full run yet bc we got months left but for rn I think Deadpool and Wolverine. Being a pop culture defining moment in the superhero drama allowing for fans and actors to relive what they have had or what they couldn’t have until now. We got to see a story with characters who needed that drive to fulfill their desires. They got what they needed even if it wasn’t what they wanted. All in a comedy film. It balance serious and goofy perfectly.

Empire Strikes Back being below The Social Network, The Blair Witch Project, The Breakfast Club, Mean Girls, Fury Road, Brokeback Mountain, The Big Lebowski, and Anchorman destroyed this list’s credibility and I love all those movies, but in terms of cultural impact it’s not even a discussion that ESB is one of the most impactful ever (I was expecting it in the top 5)
Edit: I was watching live and I now see ANH is 1. Some redemption, but if they were going to do that, why bother with the sequel anyway? They didn’t with the Godfather where they only put the 2nd despite the first obviously being the more IMPACTFUL movie. Just a crazy list and I could critique other things.

Pulp Fiction was absolutely terrible. One of the worst movies I have seen in a long time. Outrageous dialogue that was so unnecessary. I have an issue with many of Quentin Tarantino’s films, especially this and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. I agree with the rest of the list tho
