Tip #5 is no joke. I started on cheap, Chinese knockoffs. Once I moved to JMK the difference was staggering. In hindsight, I really only slowed my learning process not starting with the real deal. The bearings are obviously better, but so are the wheels and overall construction. I'll never stray again.
I beat the hell out of the OG Freeline skates like 12 years ago- couldnt order from them anymore. I bought jmk rides 10 years later (2020) and they were SUCH a vast improvement in weight, form, and customizability. Not to mention, I've been unlearning some habits i taught myself back in the day thanks to jmk's videos. To those just now learning dont give up!
What perfect timing. I'm learning to pump on my 5th day of skating and I'm wondering if its possible to learn pumping on an slight hill? I don't really have flat areas nearby and I'm practicing on a small hill currently.
Totally! Actually, flat ground is what you want to avoid. Just like riding a bike, you want some speed to help you stay upright. Learning on a slight hill is the best case scenario for new riders 😁 Best of luck to you!
Just got a pair from amazon because JMKs are pricy for me since I'm just learning how to do it. But so far so good. If I stick with it I'd love to grab a pair of JMKs in the future.
I needed to watch this it was a sign! I bought a $30 free skate so far working well but I think that I should really get a excellent quality jmk ride!! Thanks for the informative videos. I have always been catching up
Quick question. How can I get my back leg to come forward? Like in the first beginner video when you split the legs around the skate on the ground. My back leg wants to not go forward.
I'd recommend only using the back leg to pump, and keep the front skate straight. This should help you figure out the pivot on the back skate. Pointing your back toe outward should bring it forward! Apologies for the delayed reply - Hope you've been able to make some progress. Would love to hear about it!
Can there be electro magnets in the soul of the shoes, with a switch button in hand, that way you can turn the magnet on and off depending on the trick.
@@maximxdd1635 I would love to try them but I am broke. And there is some cheap versions on Amazon but they seem to be built differently and I geniunely worry that I don't get the proper experience.
@@Dhalucario yea these are better. I already got them and i think they are worth it. I sold some of my old stuff what i dont use. Maybe if you have legos or board games what you dont use you can just sell them. Trust me you will get the amountyou need. I got all my money in 3 weeks
@@jmkride I've always been one to bail when the bailing is good. I've been thinking about getting a pair for awhile now and was worried about my knees, but I think you've talked me into it. Thanks. I'll definitely get some JMKs.
Yeah stick with it. I had my coach shove me down a hill 100 times to learn how to pump XD I eventually got it down but not without a little frustration lol But now I use it as something to top off my workout for the day 😁
I'm currently in the beginning and trying to keep moving but I have no hill or nothing like that near my place because everything is flat or stairs here... 😥Please tell me is it even possible to learn it on flat surfaces? 🥺
3 days in on my fake skates(China), I was Admitted into ER. I saw an oncoming car randomly and dislocated my shoulder. Idk if I should give up freeskating altogether or to further my quest in saving up for some jmk
Oh no!!!! So sorry to hear that! Definitely don't give up. Heal up and get back on them in a safer location (park, tennis court, etc) until you're more comfortable.
It can deter you from continuing riding freeskates thinking they're too hard. When you transition, you'll likely realize how much easier learning would have been haha
@@jmkride I rode my bike to town to deposit the money to make my order, and there was a electrical and fire at the bank, and closed it for the day... OMG the suspence is killing me!!!
In my defense I'm only watching this without having tried because I placed the order 2 hours ago. I'm glad I decided "well I can spend $80 and upgrade in a year or so, or just spend $170 right now"
Unfortunately, some people get deterred riding the cheap ones because they are more difficult. They quit before they even try ours which makes it far easier to learn.
@@jmkride When I saw how affordable yours were and the actual community effort you put in I knew I was going to give you the money. Excited to see what the lava red looks like in person, (too.)

want some of these for years now. just i dont have extra cash its like a month of my salary lol. but i did bought a knockoff for 10th of the price. soon i will get a pair of legit JMK skates.
Another mistake would be buying skates with the classic wheels. These require much more muscle and riding into endless circles just to make the wheels rounder.

Many learn this the hard way, for sure. Glad you stuck with it though, that’s what matters! Thanks for the support!

to ride uphill, you have to dig a little harder when pumping. The more you practice the more muscle you'll build up in your legs too so keep riding.

If that magical touch is money, yeah I don't have that :v
What are you trying to say with that

What about freeskating with past knee injuries? Like I don't have much holding my left knee together anymore.are there a lot of splits?
The splits only happen if you try and hang on too long. We always recommend stepping off prior to that. And even then, it rarely happens.

Hey! The decks are interchangeable. You can simply rotate the angle of the deck to make it "L"
