I have been trying to learn about the origins of the double treadle system. Most sources state or imply that double treadles were introduced in the last several decades. I am thrilled to see this antique wheel with double treadle, and would love to learn more about it. I love using a double treadle so much more than single, and I also love the look of traditional wheels, both Saxony and castle. Additionally, I'd love to know if your wheel is simply missing a footman, so you used twine, or if it looks like that was the original configuration. I realize that this post is several years old, so I really hope that you will see this! Thank you!
Hi there... by any chance are you on Ravelry? We have a group for antique spinning wheels, and I bet you could get lots more information there. I love my double treadle modern wheel!
