Those a1 images will make a guy re-think some things. Having that reach is one thing, but having that reach and resolution is a whole nother ball thing. Great work.
Thank you. I have a new R5 now. I have problems with panning on a tripod at 30fps 4K. The pans are very slow, and it stutters. At 60fps, it hardly stutters at all. At 30fps, I have a shutter speed of 1/60. Is it normal for it to stutter? And do I not have this stutter with the A1 because the sensor is read out faster?
While you are using the recommended shutter speed for your frame rate (1/60th @ 30fps) during a pan seeing some stuttering is normal, smoother pans is a great use case for 60fps.
I find the A1 can track better than the a7rV but most of the photos are not sharp; some tend to be slightly soft. The images that the a7rV does catch are much sharper and resolution has nothing to do with it, it's the AF system. I own both cameras, rarely do I shoot under fluorescent lighting, and never shoot video so the rV definitely ticks all the boxes for me. If you shoot portraits, landscapes, architecture, or product photography the rV is stellar. IMO, the alpha 1 only trumps the rV if you do a lot of high-speed sync or fast-moving objects, its hit rate is subjective depending on the circumstance and the a1 is not going to see any more updates. It's getting long in the tooth. Don't get me wrong, when it came out 2 years ago it was top of its class. It still performs well but expect to see its technology dated within the next year. I'm keeping the rV and selling my A1. I think the rV AF system is superior. I respect your channel Jememy and appreciate all your contributions to the photography community. Thank you!
I wanted to know if its possible to be able to keybind focus area into one button macro. I would like to see if its possible to put tracking spot L and spot L so it can be more seamless instead of fumbling thru menu selections
It is something that would make a good topic for another video... but yes it's possible. First you have to go into the focus menu and turn on AF area registration. Menu - AF/MF - Focus Area (item 2) - AF Area Registration. Then set the the camera to the focus area mode you want to register... for example tracking spot L. Then hold the FN button and that focus area will be registered. Now you will need to assign this registered focus area mode to a custom button, I recommend using either AF-on or AEL button. Go to Menu - Setup - Operation Customize (option 3) - Customize Key Settings. When you are registering a key to recall your focus mode you have the option to toggle, hold, or do hold + AF on.
thank you its pretty legit i am able to be fluid with the focusing now. I been trying to get rid of the flashing for in the view mode on complete black frames or where theres no detail it just flashes and i have been trying to figure how to turn that off. Where there is no flash at all and just a picture Do you have a pateron or do you teach online courses?
@@mcculloughimagery4952 Glad those settings worked for you! I don't (yet) have a Patreon but I do teach online courses. Drop me a line at my email address on the about tab here on YT and I would be glad to help further!

Great work, the A1 focus tracking is impressive!
Fantastic! Great video Jeremy!
I'll be trying the "Locked On" auto focus setting on my A7IV after seeing your results.
@@MasonBarnes Definitively give it a go, it works well on the A7IV also!
Cool video Jeremy!
