    Great review, finally some honesty. I've heard a lot that the "story teller tactics" deck is useful for presentations but, do you think it would be useful to write an actual story properly?

    • @minimalgoods
      @minimalgoods  Рік тому +8

      I'm just flipping through all the cards, and it seems like *most* of them are focused on storytelling in business settings. I say that because all the "character" cards emphasize ways in which the listener can trust *you*.
      There might be a few in here that would be useful though, I think it just comes down to how you can apply them to creative writing as well.

      @steverawling9297 Рік тому +7

      Hi @@minimalgoodsI wrote the cards with a business customer in mind, particularly innovators and designers. So you'll find lots of references to "your customer" and even "your user" in different cards. Hopefully you can see there's a lot of common ground with other stories you might want to tell. Essentially, they are about the Hero - and that could be factual or fictional stories, it could be you or someone else. Either way, it's the story that works as a way of organising the information.

    Do you think these would be good for Agile/Scrum software teams? Do any of the decks and cards lend themselves to improving planning, retrospectives, sprint and release reviews etc? Or perhaps storyboarding new features?

    • @minimalgoods
      @minimalgoods  Рік тому +3

      Yeah absolutely. I use it on a software team, and it's great for ideation, planning, and prioritizing upcoming work. There are a few retro activities in the deck as well.

      @@minimalgoodsI'm interested in buying the storyteller tactics deck, especially for the vault part, but I'm hesitant to buy. Could you (or someone) send me a link to one of the videos (particularly for the storyteller tactics deck) so I could get an idea of if they're what I need? I'm assuming all the videos are individual links so one won't be giving away the whole deck or anything.

    What packs do you think would be best in a elementary school setting with kids 6-12? Is it all business related or some able to have more broad application?

    • @minimalgoods
      @minimalgoods  Рік тому +5

      Hmm, that's a tough one. I think the most applicable might be the storytelling one for kids. It might be interesting to break down the "formulas" of popular writing into some of the tactics, then have the kids identify which is being used where. It might even be a really good prompt for an English (or later on, a creative writing class).
      Beyond that, I would probably say the team tactics one. It's full of little activities that could be fun in a class setting.

      It looks like they are slowly adding support for different apps. I just logged in to see if there was anything new, and the Storyteller Tactics deck now includes Mural templates as well as Miro.

    These are absolutely NOT for authors or storytellers who need help formatting a work of fiction.
    It's misleading how these are marketed.
    It's for people in sales that need help moving a customer in a certain direction.

    • @scoogsy
      @scoogsy 6 місяців тому +7

      Which part of the marketing is misleading?
      I’d be interested, because I never took the story teller tactics deck as being used for an author writing a book. The advert for them is very much in the line of moving your presentations or pitches from being a data dot point list for PowerPoint, to an engaging story that gets the audience to become emotionally invested in why we need to do the next thing.
      Never once in any marketing have I seen it sold as a way for authors to structure their books.

      @@goodgirlsguide- I’ve seen a couple comments from you in this video’s reply’s. They read as petty and more personal than about the content.
      I listened through the video and he did not say he was going to return them. He said for his use the digital version was more helpful. He also said that for some doing in person workshops, the physical card might be the best choice.
