The champs league was special because it was borderline knockout football every game, not because we saw Real Madrid vs City every week. Turning a KO Tournament into a League is disgraceful and the newly added teams are going to get absolutely wrecked by top dogs.

I've been bored of the champs league for ages. I only watch the best matches at knockout stage and even then I've missed matches because I simply don't care. The premiership is the best league and the most exciting. I can't see this making things more watchable!

It's fine if coaches learn to rotate. Though if that happens, top teams will be less consistent and give mid table teams a chance.
I feel like they are slowly taking the approach we have here in America and making a league with just the best teams and players. I could see the good and bad with it but it is interesting since Europe is multiple countries and we have one country with teams across states.
If it's one big league, though, then how does it make it more competitive? If you only have to finish in the top 8(??), then you can surely win your first 4 games and then take it easy after that, no?
This is utter rubbish and utterly monopolistic. The big clubs who spend the most money on players will be the ones that win. Making more money to buy even better players. Even more now than it has been. Football loses.
Under current format plzen had no chance of progressing due to an unlucky draw in the 22/23 season - Bayern, Barcelona and Inter Milan in their group
Under the new format they would have - Bayern, Barca , inter and for the extra teams - arsenal, Copenhagen Belgrade, Celtic and shaktar Donetsk
So they’d have the 4 games vs the big teams and 4 games vs teams at a beatable/similar level and which would help them get points to boost their league coefficient
Tbf I rather give more spot to those non-Big 5 league, instead of 4th place somehow can make into the Champions League
If it has to be a team from a top 5 league then teh fa cup winners should get priority over a trophyless team

If a current football season wasnt already over packed then wow, now we have a super packed one. Just prepare for the inevitable, which is major quality drop in big games. And last but not least, prepare for hordes of injuries. Can the federations not see the already unusually high injury rates??? Now its gonna be worse. Look at how Barca, Madrid, Atletico, Man City, Liverpool, Man Utd, Inter and Ac Milan plus more have had it difficult because of injuries to key players. This has got to be a joke. Players aren't robots..but it seems the money's more important to these hypocrites calling the shots.

I don’t know if the new version will be better but lets also not pretend like the current group stage system is perfect. Theres always a group of death and always huge mismatch groups like Man City, RB Leipzig, Young Boys, and FK Crvena Zvezda.

The current Champions League format is totally rubbish. UEFA should revert it back to only "champions" of each countries and the straight knockout gsmes with no seedings.

The major difference is that the super league is a closed league, even in its proposed rivised format the big clubs don't need to perform domestically to qualify. That's huge! English clubs will never join the super league, we won't let that happen as we've already shown and soon there'll be a law that kicks them out of the premier league in they join.

Not a good idea. More games, potentially less emphasis on domestic leagues and cups, more injuries, but more money for UEFA. Anytime it’s a monetary benefit for UEFA, more than likely it’s a bad idea for football itself.
UEFA is only concentrating in more money, and more games from team , and more temas invovlement for more tv rights and all... And they dont want to give time to think for other leagues and stuff like super league and all

The Europa and Conference leagues also have a similar format. The old format works well, apart from the third placed teams in each group dropping down to the lower competition. I can see this being nonsensical and confusing.
It also stops big teams being eliminated early; right now they can mess up and come third in their group, but they'll make the top 24 no problem.
United don't make the Top 24 mate.

No its not. Eufa implemented this system before the super league. The super league is a closed league.
Yeah, everybody and their mamas got easily riled up when the Super League was proposed. If anything, we only managed to protect the UEFA and Premier League monopolies. The Super League as a refined idea would have helped neutralize these monopolies. At this rate, we are going to see more and more big clubs outside of the Premier League die and fall from grace because the monopolies are sucking all the finances from football.

The big issue with the champions league is they need to find a way to get a wider variety of clubs in the latter stages and potentially winning it.They need to find a way to get clubs from Netherlands,Portugal, Belgium , Eastern Europe , Scandinavia having some chance of winning it.This was the case up until 20 years ago however it's become a competition preserved only for the top 4 or 5 leagues in recent years and this is not good for the competition.
Nothing stopping those clubs from winning now. The world ain't a charity. Everyone and everything doesn't have to be equal.

Currently, during the Group Stage, a team in Pot 1 (eg - Man City) would play against teams from Pots 2/2/3/3/4/4. The only difference is, now they play teams from Pot 1/1/2/2/3/3/4/4.
This actually makes the group stage more balanced too. Every team with play the same number of teams in all 4 pots. No more advantage for teams in Pot 1 getting easier draws. No more advantage for a team like PSG who is gifted an automatic spot in Pot 1 every year for playing in a farmers league.
No more Groups of Death either.
They're soon going to have to increase the maximum allowable squad size for different competitions. It's the only way.

Rubbish bullshit rules. It’s just an excuse to make more money by adding more teams and matches. Imagine what will happen to players. Their quality will surely go down and fatigue will make them lazy. In my opinion there should be total 30 champion league team all compete with each other in a league format and only top 8 qualify for the quarterfinals and so on. This is the best format to find out who is the real European champion even dividing team into groups doesnt give real European champion because sometimes good team get outs in the group stage and not every team play with other other.

One of those complex models that sound good but confuse the fans. The aim of UEFA is to have "more pointless games."
So basically the best 8 teams will play less and will be even more likely to be injury free and have the best chance of winning the remaining games.

I like the format but I'd reduce it to 20 teams, 4 pots of 5 teams, you play 2 teams from each pot, 8 games, then go to KO.
4 teams from England, Spain and Italy. 3 teams from Germany. 2 teams from France. Thats 17 teams, divide the remaining 3 spots among the other best teams of Europe in Qualifiers. Probably Ajax/PSV and Benfica/Porto and Copenhagen/Shakhtar. The rest can play Europa League.
