    About me:
My name is Anthony Chisnall. I'm a musician & songwriter.
    My channel is these things:
    1. A place to share my songs - via various 'Back on Track' video series - in which you'll see each song idea evolve step-by-step, with me (hopefully!) improving my song-writing skills as we go.
    2. An outlet for me to discuss all things musical - including technical break-downs of software and tools that I use, as well as more wide-ranging discussions of topics that interest me.
I play the guitar (electric, acoustic, and bass), and record all of my own synth-based sounds myself too, but I can't sing very well (huge understatement!), and so my wife, Pauline, who has a lovely singing voice, has come to my rescue. You'll hear her on all of my songs.
All of my music is written in Steinberg's Cubase.
I try very hard to make my videos PRACTICAL and no-nonsense - if I don't use a feature, I'm not going to waste your time trying to sound like an expert on it! This is the stuff I use day-to-day, so I think that's also what you'd like to hear me talking about.

Thank-you Anthony for all your help. Until today I thought the shank was some inscrutable term referring to the rod of the hi-hat mechanism. Thanks for explaining it's the STICK.

Hi Anthony. Thanks for your videos. I have a suggestion that I've been meaning to make for a while. Could you make the VST instrument that you're explaining or using much bigger please? You are currently using GA but it is probably using maybe a sixth of the available screen space. Sometimes of course you are doing stuff outside of the instrument e.g. in the arrange page. Of course it would make sense then to focus on the arrange page. But making the main focus of your video one sixth of the window makes no sense to me. And it makese even less sense when you consider how many people will be watching your videos on their phone. Thanks again for your videos; you go into a lot of detail and that is appreciated.

Thanks very much for the feedback. I generally do try to maximise the screen real estate. Groove Agent can't be resized, sadly. I did briefly dabble with messing with my monitor resolution, but it ended up causing so much trouble that I abandoned the experiment.

Hi Anthony, what a detailed explanation of hihats and I love your spreadsheets (a man after my own heart!) but I was disappointed to see that the make and model of the passing car noise wasn’t mentioned in the spreadsheet 😮😅. Can I ask where your accent is from, perhaps a Wirralonian like myself? (before I moved to Cyprus).

Lol, I'll try harder next time :) I was actually raised in Rainford, but my mum & dad are from Old Swan (that'll be the scouse you hear) and Rainhill respectively.

@@OneManAndHisSongs nice! With a band we had back in the early 80’s we paid for a session in Rainhill recording studios which was a wonderful 8 track on 1/2” tape mixed down on to cassette and 1/4” stereo tape, a set up I had myself at home a bit later with Teac38 & 32 machines that I still have in boxes 😄I distinctly remember in Rainhill that the best sound our rhythm guitarist could get out of his tranny amp was by mic’ing it up in the downstairs toilet! The good old days before GA5 complications 🤗
