You really got creative with this one. I did not see the crutches coming but I am not disappointed! I also do not recommend trying to scrape any blonde lacquer. Its like scraping tar.
I felt for you with that jig. The Kreg jig is for putting the holes in, not for binding the two pieces together. The pockethole is used for butt joints, not for 45 degree joints. This is because you are not supposed to put pockethole joints into end grain. To connect a butt joint, hang the leg(s) of the jig over the edge of the piece where you will drill the hole. The other piece should not be involved, and you will not drill a hole in the second piece. The little hook leg should just hook the edge. The idea is that, the thicker the wood, the farther back the jig will be, and the hole placement is determined by the thickness gages on the jig and on the drill bit collar. Set the wood thickness on BOTH the jig and the drill bit collar to your wood thickness before clamping the jig onto the wood. The collar will stop the drill when the hole is the right depth as long as you have set both those gages. You may not see the exit hole, so don't worry about that. Pocket hole screws are self drilling, so they will do the binding together without the jig. You should clamp the joint after you drill the holes so the wood doesn't move, but don't screw while the jig is still in place. That hole is only for the drill bit. :-) Finehomebuilding has a one-minute UA-cam video that is very clear. Good job on this challenge.
Love your attitude - doesn't matter how often we "fail" it's that we keep trying! 🙌 What a cool makeover, total transformation from where this began! Beautiful!
I had a band director tell me "practice doesn't make perfect; perfect practice makes perfect" but you'll never get there without lots of mediocre and even some horrible practice
I've watched all the videos in this challenge and I have to say, your project was the most unexpected choice to start with and the most creative outcome. I love it!! You win!!!
Hi! At first I didn't think I was going to care for this idea, boy did you prove me wrong. Once I saw the finished product i was pleasently suprised! Very creative! Good job!
The Kregg jig hole guide can be set for the thickness of the wood being used, and screw length is chosen based on the same. That keeps the screw from going all the way through.
The finished product came out awesome! I was confused when you had the feet installed and then added the other legs until you revealed the finished piece. That’s when I said to myself ohhhhh that looks nice! Well done 😄👍🏾
If you shove a q-tip in the hole of the knob you can then hold the stick of the q-tip when painting knobs. I have a piece of floral foam I shove the other side in to let them dry.
With your Craig jeg first you should drill the pocket holes with the jeg. Then screw the screws in the pocket holes without the jeg. That’s why you were having such a hard time. Try it it should work out better.
Shannon's leave time like it that you're working here yelling your store front so I'm going to go ahead and or visitor everything when you using your products on your shelves.

Well, I guess if crutches can support our legs, they can help support a piece of furniture. Great idea! Your piece turned out great. 🙂👍

Right!! 🤣
I have a headboard almost the same, never had doors but did have an electric outlet/cord.
That would be a nice addition❣️

It is a MCM headboard. I have one just like it collecting dust in the basement. Not sure what I want to do with it.
