5 things I hate & 5 things I love about my 2005 Yamaha TTR 230 Follow Me- Facebook: Joshua Whippin Work Mills Instagram: JoshWhippinWorkMills Snapchat: joshmills94
In response to your "hate" points, in order: 1) The TTR230 is a beginner bike, so less power is good for learning. 2) The TTR230 is a trail bike, so the suspension needs to be softer than a motocross bike... that is actually the single most important difference between the two types. 4) The TTR230 is a small bike... not a full size bike. So this makes sense. Adult bike, sure, but a very small one. Throw some Pro Taper bars on it and bark busters, and they will never bend again! 5) The TTR230 weighs 10lbs more than my KTM 300EXC, which is full size. So that's fair point. Sounds like you want a full size bike. All of your complaints (except the missing one and the weight) have to do with the class this bike is in, not the bike itself. :)
tomakze Your point is valid however, there really are not many bad points to this bike. I loved it while I had it and the bike did not give me many problems. I'm a pretty big guy and yes, I am used to riding "full size bikes" (250 two strokes and 450 four strokes). Thanks for the comment broski! That KTM you have is a nice bike 👌.
5'4" or larger fit the bike pretty well. My wife is 5'1" and she has to lean over to get a food on the ground. My son is 5'4" and fits with tippy toes. I only have 2 real gripes with the bike 1... No key. 2... No kick start. The power doesn't come in the lower rpms but once you get to 30 or so MPH it really starts to show where it's power is. This forces you to sometimes stay in a lower gear climbing hills but that is easy to get used to. My son rides a TT-R125 and he can do things in 3rd that I have to stay in 2nd to do. All and all I am very happy with the bike and cant wait to get out to the trails again. Hopefully I will get another day or two before the rain and cold really set in around here.
Going from a 450 to a 230 wonder if theres any loss in power? This is not a mx bike, it's a woods bike. Mine was bored 30 over, put a white bros e series had laying around on jetted it and put some fins on airbox cover. It's puts down some decent power for what it is and is very fun in the woods. Previous bike was a 01 yz125 put down right at 40hp wicked mean, too much for my liking, not that young anymore so I like my ttr. Going from a 450 to a 230 is like switching from ps5 to ps3.
i enjoy riding my fiances 2016 ttr. i completely get the lack of power thing, I personally ride a 04 yz450f, BUT after uncorcking the 230 its a blast to ride around on. Just put a fmf pipe and silencer on, 130 main, 40 pilot, and 5 1" air filter breathers in the top of the airbox, its a whole new toy. sounds like a little 450. NOT smooth sounding like 250f bikes, and Id bet it picked up 3-4hp, at least enough to make a VERY noticeable difference on the butt dyno, and seat o pants meter. :p
I'm going get 2020 ttr 230 I had the 06 and sold it and bought a 96 ktm 360 2 stroke,I sold that bike because I don't have any track to ride on that bike was fast to fast
I'm getting the new TTR230 in about a week or so, My first bike was a TTR50E When i was 6 i am now 16 and haven't ridden since 10, think it'll be a good bike?
i've got a ttr125 and i crashed on a turn going like 40 and the only thing that got messed up was me love how its built like a tank but i love 2 strokes so thats the only downfall for me
@@syndicatemotos7534 did you not like yours or are u going bigger? I was thinking of a 450 but I'm low on $. Plus I already have a 1000cc sports bike which I go way to fast on already. But I feel like because I'm used to that power a 230 may feel like a toy to me.
@@rrf899 na it’s fine I have a 250f but I use it as a pit bike more so now. If your a light weight and trying to get into racing or just want nice power but don’t wanna drop a lot of money go for a 2stroke 125 or if your on the heavy side 250 2 stroke
OhhFree this is a great bike and will last much longer than a yz250f. it is also much easier to maintain. a yz250f would be faster and built to handle jumps. if you are looking for a good woods bike and you don't plan on racing that's what I would get! if you have any other questions let me know! welcome to the channel!!!!
Possibly buying my first bike ever ttr230 2005 tomorrow looks like it needs a little help with some minor issues going on but that’s fine I’ve got the know how I just want to ride lol.
With the right setup you can easily get 30hp reliably out of these. Take cork out. Most reliable bike I've ever had starts up 1st hit and 20degrees f out. Keep oil changed put gas in and go
Cody Duncan TTR is a good bike to mess around on if you aren't wanting to do a lot of maintenance or race. Those yz250f's are built for Motocross and require a lot of maintenance.
Elias Boyle WOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOO!!! If you check out my most recent videos you will see that I no longer have any bikes. I should be getting a new bike in November after I move into my house.
WhippinWorkMills do you think if I bought one for 1200$ and is a 2006 that's a good deal? I'm only 5,5 and I don't think I'd do well on a 250 even though I want one

Rebel N Dirt can it wheelie?
Almost all of the problems can be fixed with aftermarket parts so that's good
just got my first bike in over 20 years and its this exact one. 2005. pretty excitied. Got it for 1bot 1.4k in excellent conditon.
Nice vid. I'm about to buy a CFR230F and this video was helpful even though you reviewed the Yamaha. Very similar bikes obviously.
barcelona2112 Glad I could help!
I really want a ttr and this helped me and I'm getting one
Do you think It could be a good first bike?
i have a 2016 ttr 230 and it is great with trails it is definitely a trail bike i would not use it for mx
I had one. It was great and light but I found it a bit gutless. A step up to a WR250F was the best choice I made.
Yeah, a WR250 definitely is a nice bike!
I'm not the biggest guy but I do find the WR kinda heavy compared to other 250's
Can the 230 wheelie?

I've got one thing I love and one I thing i hate, 1. I love the battery reliability. 2. I hate that it doesn't have a kick start.
Same here!
+WhippinWorkMills And your right it has very limited power compared to a 450. Great beginner bike though.
Some have the kick start
i enjoy riding my fiances 2016 ttr.

Thomas Morgan can it wheelie
The ending😂😂
Lol right!
I have a ttr230 and I’ve had it 7 years and still stomp yz125s all over the trails
LMAO same!
Probably because that’s what it’s built for, just like yz125’s will stomp ttr230’s on the track
Hey is this bike for sale in NC? Im just asking because i was looking at one on craigslist and it looks exactly the same
yep!
omg he sounds like chase on two wheels
DO WHAT?!?! No I don't hahaha
you really do though haha
2 v 1 now... I'm losing!
WhippinWorkMills You guys should do a collab. It would be confusing as fuck. haha
xplosion456 you would have to talk to ***** about that lol.
Would this be good for 5,10 14 year old
Are there any extreme differences in the years? I have a 2005 Ttr 230, and wanna change up my sprockets. Are all of them mostly universal?
Yes
The intro song sounds like fooligan
I have the same bike, but i feel like it’s not powerful enough
I'm going get 2020 ttr 230 I had the 06 and sold it and bought a 96 ktm 360 2 stroke,I sold that bike because I don't have any track to ride on that bike was fast to fast
dose it have kick start
I ride a 450 but I still feel the power on mine
Eugene Worrell definitely has enough power to still have fun. I had a rmz 450 before this bike.
im not kidding i think i found your bike on craigslist in nashville bent handlebars and looks just like it
Well it's not in Nashville haha.
I'm getting the new TTR230 in about a week or so, My first bike was a TTR50E When i was 6 i am now 16 and haven't ridden since 10, think it'll be a good bike?
Yeah, you will have fun on it!
Can't Wait :D
+Bodhi MY WIGGUH!
i've got a ttr125 and i crashed on a turn going like 40 and the only thing that got messed up was me love how its built like a tank but i love 2 strokes so thats the only downfall for me
2 strokes are great!
i love them i'm trying to sell my ttr125 for one
Good luck! I used to have a RM 250 before I purchased my RMZ 450, this was before my current bike. That 250 two stroke would fly!
would this yamaha 230 be good for a 5’8 beginner
Shots & laughs yep
I'm a 5'11 180 lbs man, would this bike be too small??
It is not to small for you, it is not the fastest. But it’s reliable as hell..
Good video ....thank you !!!!
You just erned a new subscriber
Yeeet
I have a ttr225 its fun af
I’m 5ft 7in should I get a 230 or 250?
450
Great outro
Bionic Rush thanks boss
Nice video
it's designed for adult women the adults trail bike is the wr250f close to twice the power because of the high reving motor and just as reliable
Jake Hynds Never heard that before 😂
that ending lol
I know it’s a little late but have you sold it yet? I’ll buy it off of you if you haven’t sold it yet.
Ben Scherr wanna buy mine?
@@syndicatemotos7534 did you not like yours or are u going bigger? I was thinking of a 450 but I'm low on $. Plus I already have a 1000cc sports bike which I go way to fast on already.

Monica NG
Yes, I ride at Busco some. I have been there around ten times.
Is this a good bike or should I just wait and save up for a yz250f
OhhFree this is a great bike and will last much longer than a yz250f. it is also much easier to maintain. a yz250f would be faster and built to handle jumps. if you are looking for a good woods bike and you don't plan on racing that's what I would get! if you have any other questions let me know! welcome to the channel!!!!
WhippinWorkMills, I bought a new one and it doesn't start for some reason.
Robert Clent Have you put gas in it? 😂
Yeah, fresh gas.
I figured it out, I forgot to set the fuel valve to on.
Robert Clent oh man hahahaha. I have done that a time or two.
Good video. The best part was the very end.
I dont know. Could be gay. Lmao
I hurt my shine really bad with kick start
Nathan Wilkinson "kisses for your broke leg baby boy"

How talk are you I only wanna know this because I am getting one tomorrow
6ft 2in
Hey I'm 6 foot 80 kgs looking for a first trail bike is this one a good bike.
The size 230 will haul you around, although the 6 foot people tend to fit better on 125 2 strokes- 250 4 strokes.
Moto ta linda parabéns gostei

what would you take for it where do you live
Zachary Moses sold for 1400
Ok cool
Ttr230 or yz250f
four strokes?
Cody Duncan TTR is a good bike to mess around on if you aren't wanting to do a lot of maintenance or race. Those yz250f's are built for Motocross and require a lot of maintenance.
Ttr 230 or yz250fx I don't race mostly gravel roads and some jumps
Cody Duncan The Ttr would be cheaper and easier to maintain for what you want to do.
Cody Duncan two different bikes
Don't forget this is not a dirt bike. it is an enduro that is street legal with headlight and taillight installations.
brandon robinson This one isn't, you can convert it though.
How tall are you
TheFlex youtuber 6' 2"
How much did u buy it for?
$1,300
WhippinWorkMills Thanks, they are a lot more expensive in New England
Sean Belland Everything up North is haha
Parts are hell to find for cheap
is it still for sale?
Maybe, maybe not👌
wtf is that supposed to mean
+Cole P "It's all a mystery"

Elias Boyle Whatever you like better. I personally like Honda.
Elias Boyle both are great bikes

Elias Boyle WOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOO!!! If you check out my most recent videos you will see that I no longer have any bikes. I should be getting a new bike in November after I move into my house.

So much talking without saying anything. I wish you tubers would do more just getting to the point we don’t have all day
Parcrou Yemdness then click on another video... NERD! :)
Is it for 11 year olds
This would fit an 11 year old if they where over 5,8 and weigh at least 150 ib’s
I have a dirtbike for sail on Craigslist 2006 Honda $1400 check it out
How much do you want for it
1500
im 5,6 and do you think id be better with this or a 250r lowered im 10 and been riding since i was 4
I have never seen a 10 year old ride anything above a 85cc two stroke. Do whatever you want as long as you can handle it haha.
I'm looking for one I'll buy it off of u for 1000$
1300
WhippinWorkMills do you think if I bought one for 1200$ and is a 2006 that's a good deal? I'm only 5,5 and I don't think I'd do well on a 250 even though I want one
any body want to trade a 450 for a 250
Gecky the Geck0 no
I'll but it for 1300
Lol I'll trade you a 2002 hayabusa for a 450
I reckon most of the cons about the bike are due to your size and weight- you seem too big for the bike ;)
Luke Blackwell Just a little small for me haha
I’m gonna get a 125 instead
Stone Kold111 I’ll sell you a 250 two stroke
Carolina Drifter Fishing well how much?
Stone Kold111 2000
Carolina Drifter Fishing does it run?
