I used to be a triangle dealer and I was very impressed with the product line. They are so easy on the ears, I found myself that they didn't fatigue my ears like the klipsch which I also sold when I worked at a different shop.

Sean, last time I saw you that enthusiastic about a speaker was the Tekton double impact and I bought them. I have been extremely happy with them ever since in my living room. I was about to purchase the Klipsh 600 for my smaller family room. • @jimshaw899
    @jimshaw899 4 роки тому +1

Liked the review. You make it pretty clear, which isn't easy to do. And I like the position you take as an advocate for "affordable" audio. Bravo. And, in particular, I like your final comparison with the Klipsch 600M's -- because I have 2 pair -- that you talked me into -- and I'm very happy with them. Because each pair delivers into a large space, they were the right choice for me. But if I were looking to drive a 16' x 24' x 8' room, these BROs might go to the front of the line. Especially if I was listening from closer than 8'. The Klipsch's are pretty 'in your face' closer than that, but wonderful throughout the rest of the space. Especially at high SPLs.
So help me, a CD from a live session at the Village Vanguard sounds like being there, especially if I add two fingers of Macallan.
The Klipsch's might be in my face, but so are real horns, drums, and a Steinway 9'. Or the entire Cleveland Orchestra ensemble from row four.
I don't know about rock music. Live rock concerts sound like an arena with two semi's of JBL stacks force-feeding a shit ton of DSP.

Yesterday, I went to a local audio store where they had a different speaker playing - those were placed may be 8 ft apart and it sounded as if the voice was coming right from the center ! I was told those speakers were phase & time aligned... just curious, do Bro3s have a similar sound?

TBH, I'm more excited about these speakers than I was about the Buchardt S400's. Good stuff. Meanwhile, I need to address the following: (1) If you're in the US and would like to buy them, go here: www.adorama.com/l/Miscellaneous/Triangle~New-Products-at-Adorama . No, I'm not commissioned. Next, (2) I have no idea how any of the other speakers within the Borea range perform. For all I know, the BR03's could be the sweet spot within the lineup. I'll have to reserve commentary on those products until I'm able to get my ears on em'.

I've been to the New Music High end innovation exhibition in Brussels. I've listened to Wilson audio Alex, Russell K, Kaya 90, Naim, the best stuff you can find for Hifi and Home Cinema and I must say that a lot of people including me were totally amazed by the quality of the Triangle Borea suite. The combo Borea BR08 with a CXA61 from Cambridge audio was absolutely incredible for the price . I couldn't recommand anything else for someone with a tight budget for Hifi and Home Cinema.

Hey Sean! I know this is an ‘ancient’ video, but I’ll give you a fresh comment: I recently acquired a pair of these secondhand in new condition for a crazy price, and I can’t believe how enjoyable they are (and I’ve had several speakers lately, some considerably more expensive). Great tone, which is very important to me, I’m guessing at least partially due to the paper-based cone drivers, which I prefer. Anyway, thanks for the video!

Good review! yes you might be right tweakers Paradise, an easy possible upgrade is to stick a floor tile on the top should extend the highs vertical plane possibly overlapping about 2mm over the front baffle, celeb of blue tack about 2 or 3 mm push the tile into it, and with that front baffle could be taken out and the cabinet made from concrete using the speaker cabinet as the inner mould, and some half an inch plywood as the outer mould half an inch sidewalls quarter of an inch on the back thickness of cabinet. Some filling inside the cabinet will be needed the wood from the cabinet could be used top and bottom inside on the side walls use bitumen pads self adhesive used in the car industry quarter of an inch thick each side on the back use natural wool fleece unspun 2 inches thick or rockwool. Ideally box in the tweeter isolated from the cabinet pack it Tight with rockwool if the tweeter is vented I don't think so in this case with the hole in the back of the magnet then don't use rockwool all the way only a third from the back feel the rest of it with alpaca wool, the tighter you fill it to the driver the more pronounced the lower high frequencies will be

With the depth of these cabinets, one foot is going to be a stretch. Maybe he should have included a review of them stacked together on a single floor stand in an X-Y pattern in the front center of the room, either severe toe-in or toe-out; stereo imaging by reflection and refraction only. 😒

You're right, it's a great time to be an audio enthusiast. One can assemble a very good system for a relatively modest amount of money. I've been at it long enough to know this wasn't always the case. I've helped my sister, who recently decided to get into high fidelity, put together a system for less than a thousand bucks and she has everything but a turntable. It's not up to my standard but it sounds pretty good. Ask an aside, I'm also really impressed with modern wraps. When you can't tell if it's real wood veneer or not I think it shows they are definitely doing it right. And that's starting to be the norm. Anyway, those Triangle's do look beautiful and I have no doubt they sound every bit a nice as you say. I'm partial to French speakers anyway.

    • @ZeroFidelity

There are so many great options out there that it almost makes me mad. I had to spend a lot of money back in the day to get sound that isn't nearly as good (or as accessible and easy) as it today. As you note, there's still plenty of merit to pricier gear, as it will still outperform the less expensive stuff most of the time. However, that gap is beginning to narrow quite rapidly.

First of all i love this channel! I am torn in my decision making. Budget option 1200 Euro: Triangle Bro3 with Iotavx SA3+PA3 VS. More expensive option 4900 euro: Buchardt s400 with Hegel P190. Will I get a significantly better music/sound experience with the more expensive option? I am a hobby dj and I practice at home. Style of music: Deep house, minimal techno and disco. Also listen to jazz, classical and rock. I want to play relatively loud and feel the bass without adding a subwoofer, mainly in regard of my neighbors. The sound quality varies from wav, 320 kbps to poor recordings. I live in an apt and the roomsize in question is ruffly 6x4 m. Maybe there is a compromise? The Buchard s400 with Iotavx pack? Please comment.

Hi again, bought them on Black Friday and am very pleased with how they sound. Especially for 340€ a pair !
I'm no audiophile, but pretty much everything I've thrown at them (Nightwish, Sia, Ghost, Who, Rammstein, Buckley, Mozart, Barry Lyndon's S/T, harp, classical guitar, you name it...) makes for a very pleasant hearing, very relaxed (except for, say, Rammstein at nearly full blast ;-) ). Note that I don't do "whatever-they-call-R&B-these-days", hip-hop, rap, EDM, etc... so I can't say anything about that.
The amp used is not the best out there (Yamaha CRX-N470D, 2x22W), but still it could drive them to reasonably loud levels (cf. Rammstein, I had to lower the volume after a while due to aching ears, not bad sound) and keeping it subtle for other genres (and, side note, these connected amps are amazing when it comes to sources : most streaming services available, NAS, shared disk on PC, Btooth, Net radio, phone/tablet... Shame it doesn't do OGG but I guess the audience here is more on FLAC)
I just found the sound to be a bit "muddy" perhaps with one classical recording (symphony), with no instruments really standing out, but that could be down to the mix, amp, and I'm not used to listening much to classical anyway. Another one, a violin concerto, was quite OK. Any modern (rock/pop/folk/...) recording sounded great.
One thing that surprised me was indeed the bass level. Given the genres I listen to the most, I was expecting to start hunting for a subwoofer very soon but honestly there is no need at all unless you are a Bose/Beats-addict. There's PLENTY of bass, and again this is with a rather puny amp. I believe that's what Sean meant with "not neutral". Some who like a crisp/thinner sound might indeed find it a bit excessive, but I've listened to Bose before and the bro's are far more neutral to that regard. And one can usually lower the bass level/play with the EQ on most amps.
I won't repeat what Sean says about the rest (focus, treble, mid-range, ...), it's just like he says.
One comment, Sean, you complain about the naming of these speakers and doesn't say a thing about the Harbeth "P3ESR" ? Seriously ? What is this pro-British bias I sense ;-)
Thanks for the review, it was there when there weren't many out there on these speakers (still the case today) and as far as I'm concerned they are everything you describe, without the need for frequency response or distortion graphs and other funnies. Good job. See you in 25 years when I'll refresh my system again.
