3:30 I think that volvo stated up in wrong gear and simply never got the momentum needed to get the engine up to a optimal torque.. So it basically come down on the back side of the torque curve, and when it did, it didn´t have a chance.
When you like it you should watch more of Pulling from Europe. Its pretty big in the Netherlands and they have many classes! Rhino Rocket a Magirus-Deutz is the best running puller in my opinion from the Supersport Trucks class in the Netherlands.

I've been with a truckpulling team years ago and actually had my hands on the second truck, the yellow scania. The team I ran with retired their scania (scania 92 cabover) and is now running a scania T164. Competition wise, usually the first contester is allowed to re-run if the weight is changed after that first run but after that it stays the same for the first round.

The sled that they try to pull is always the same weight until all trucks have tried to pull it, I believe there is sometimes the option to retry a pull attempt.. And when the winner of that part is in, the go for a higher weight, and the sled can be adjusted on the fly for weight gain and there are tractor pull events where the sled the pull is mobile on the sled, to say, it slowly slides forward while there pulling it which increases the weight that is placed on the front wheels of the sled he's trying to pull that 100 meters, so making it even more difficult that get to that 100 meter mark.. There's a massive truck parade for the trucks race Le Mans 24h (yes, Le Mans 24 h exists for trucks, with trucks)

Ian you need to quickly checkout a Leopard 2 doing a full pull. It is one of the funniest things you will see. It just keeps going. There are a couple videos out there if you search for "Leopard 2 full pull" but the one from the Dutch military is the funniest. They try multiple times and succeed. Also tractor pulling is something you can check out, it is exactly the same as the truck pulling, but with tractors instead.
Hey so I know you've covered 4wd 24/7 before a couple of times, but if you look at their page again, they shipped over Shaun's "chopped 69 series (nicknamed the "sorry 30") tuebo diesel (right hand drive obviously), and a couple of other Aussie cars and have shipped them over been doing the 4wd tracks in the U.S.A.!!! Including Moab, and rocky mountains! Ian, you NEED to watch like the first ones when they got there and the MOAB where they almost write off Shaun's chopped and kitted out 60 series landcruiser!
These things have crazy amounts of power. Tractor pulling is Dutch hillbilly entertainment at its best :) That's a joke of course, but it is especially popular in the mostly agricultural east part of the country. Not much is left stock on these trucks, only the body shell is sort of stock... The engines are tuned and modified like crazy. And that Iron Horse is running a bit rich.
Driving lessons for a truck is around 110,- euro/hour. Depends on your skills how fast, so cheap, you can get your papers. And then if you want to go for the specials, like hauling dangerous goods, you'll go for extra schooling to get those papers. So you don't drive a truck and think you can do it all. Except if you of course have all the papers but that is very expensive.

The trucks are cool, but I personally prefer the ‘regular’ tractor pull videos 😅 A lot more diversity in engine configuration and types. Plus they go boom every now and then, often in spectacular fashion 😅 I went to an event once many years ago, but when we got there it was just stock or slightly modified regular farm tractors that were competing, not the tractors with like 5 v8 engines or jet engines etc. It was kinda disappointing…

You should really watch "normal" Traktor Pulling. Outdoor and with real tractors. Kinder... with 5 V8 dragrace engines mounted or a helicopterturbine. The other I would require is searching for Super Race Trucks. It's real fun, watching trucks racing over Nürburgring or Hockenheimring.
