Hi Peter, This looks like a nice, low-cost modification for improving the "punchiness" (now there's a RF engineering term) of your SSB transmission. I did similar years ago via the much more expensive route, viz. the OBP audio speech processor (the original one, not the revised version) with Heil insert. It certainly improved the FT-817's performance, as evidenced in the VK/Trans-Tasman contests at the time. 73, Mike VK2IG
A definite improvement there Peter, kind of reminds me how we used to replace the stock microphone inserts on CB's with surplus inserts yielded from old rotary dial telephone hand pieces, this practice boosted audio punch but obviously didn't work for all voices, I wonder how one of those components would compare?
