I bet 😏a lil late night SKINEMAX while grandma sleep. been there...I was in love with SHANNON TWEED THE QUEEN OF SKINEMAX, who can forget such skinemax legends such as KARI WUHRER, ANDREW STEVENS and SHANNON WHIRRY. Honetly thats all Cimeax was good for to me, CINEMAX AFTER DARK.
We were kids, when these were around. There was another earlier 80s era version of this palette graphic, with a calmer music theme. Both were excellent.
I totally absolutely remember this Cinemax intro. Brings back soooooo many fond childhood memories for me!! I was pretty much an only child raised by just my mom. Starting in 1989 (age 9 for me) I had full cable on the TV in my bedroom including HBO, Cinemax, Showtime, and the old TMC. I would watch sooooo many movies on these channels when I was growing up. Many that were definitely not appropriate for a young boy lol. In a strange way, this old retro Cinemax intro was a very big part of my childhood.
I remember this when I was a teenager in the 90's. What I really wanted to see was afterwards when they said "The following movie is intended for mature audiences".
Back in the day when movie channels were cool before Blockbuster Video came and now everybody likes to collect movies on stream or disc instead of paying for a movie channel.
Ah so many memories switching back and forth from playing my Nintendo and Super Nintendo then watching so many great movies on Cinemax and HBO. Good times!
This intro meant that I was about to watch the best movies ever as a 10 year old. However, if you look up those movies on youtube now, they are in the "Most ridiculous death scene" "Worst acting" category. Future kick, Circuitry man, basically anything with martial artist's, ie "Don "The Dragon" Wilson, Michelle "Mouse" Krasnu, or other NON ACTORS... American Ninja is what lead me down the path of desperately wanting to become a ninja when I was 10, which lead to great child debates like " which ninja is better, a white, black , or red?" Or, how do "real" ninjas wear their masks?" "Ninja can fly???" When you are 10, becoming a future kick, bad acting ninja is easy in your mind. lol
This was the best intro… The Italian designers of The Memphis Group founded by Ettore Sottsass created this design that dominated mid 80’s to early 90’s… TV shows, Shopping Malls, Movies, Fashion… Currently (2022) in their own Memphis Group Museum.
For those of you who want to know. This is the original Hip-Hop BGM for this bumper. Was the BGM ever on Killer Track? I know RPM by L. Owens was the opening to Disney Channel's DTV.
Good ol' UA-cam. I was just goofin around lookin at old school HBO intros before coming across this. I faintly remember this thanks to free previews from back in the day.
Free preview weekends. Depending on what your parents paid for, you got excited for what stuff you missed. I tried to look out for certain "late night" programming.
My grandma had HBO and Cinemax. Lived with her when I was a kid in the 80's and her cable box made me very happy!

We all had those back then, Now they're carrying Laptop's and Tablets.
I remember this intro. It had a SAVED BY THE BELL quality to it.
Penelope Gottlieb did the design for Saved by the Bell.

Back in the day when movie channels were cool before Blockbuster Video came and now everybody likes to collect movies on stream or disc instead of paying for a movie channel.
We had "Home Alone" and "Doc Hollywood" taped on the VCR off Cinemax back around 1991/1992 with this intro.
One way to describe what HBO and Cinemax intros remind me of is the VHS smell.
Friday night , I was ready .....for some enmanuel !!

This was animated by Pacific Data Images. They also animated the opening to the 90's revival of the game show: Let's Make a Deal with Monty Hall.
Thanks for the scoop!
You are most welcomed!
And PDI is later best known for Shrek, 🇲🇬 and 🥋 🐼.
Brings back memories
Such wonderful memories from my childhood during the late '80s and early '90s. The C at 0:10 looks like Pac-Man, don't you agree?

Alright. I want to go back now. What needs to be done to bring back this AMAZING decade?

Have you seen Ninja III: The Domination? Best 80's ninja movie ever!
This was the best intro… The Italian designers of The Memphis Group founded by Ettore Sottsass created this design that dominated mid 80’s to early 90’s… TV shows, Shopping Malls, Movies, Fashion… Currently (2022) in their own Memphis Group Museum.
Wow. Didn't know that Memphis Group did this. Makes sense. Thanks!
On a Quantel Paintbox (British made 80s/90s graphics computer powerhouse) you can be sure.
For those of you who want to know. This is the original Hip-Hop BGM for this bumper. Was the BGM ever on Killer Track? I know RPM by L. Owens was the opening to Disney Channel's DTV.
These were the good ole days! Today’s television is boring.
Good ol' UA-cam. I was just goofin around lookin at old school HBO intros before coming across this. I faintly remember this thanks to free previews from back in the day.
That's exactly how I got here too... Lol
Free preview weekends. Depending on what your parents paid for, you got excited for what stuff you missed. I tried to look out for certain "late night" programming.
Cinemax after dark lol
My men, I feel you.!!!!
Just got nostalgia gut punched
I remember another version of this intro with different music tho.
Mmm between this and the old school HBO intro (the one that goes through the town into space and the inside is purple)
My inner child is soothed.
Next: A weekend at Bernies. Part 2
Oh MY FUCKING GOD!!!!
now *THIS* is a 1980s opening.
Wow, Cinemax looks different back in the day.
I still love the old HBO intro.
In This Clip, From 0:00 To 0:30, It Was Cinemax's Movie Video Open From 1988.
+Erik Stone Yes. And the bouncy hip hop music fits the animation of the logo.
