- After 8 years of school and 1 year of residency, I finally accomplished my goal of becoming a clinical inpatient pharmacist! I'll be recording my pharmacy journey - navigating life as a first time pharmacist fresh out of my pharmacy residency. I'll also show you a glimpse of what my life is like outside of work as well!
I am currently a float pharmacist, meaning I "float" around and work different areas of the hospital depending on where they need me. This video is a brief overview of what my day is like when I am covering the inpatient psychiatry shift at my hospital.

From your personal experience applying and getting a job, how difficult was it to find a job and how long did it take for you to start working after graduation?
For me personally, it was not that difficult - but it could have been because I was very fortunate/lucky! I did residency right after graduation and was hired on right away at the hospital where I completed my residency. I was lucky since a position opened right when I finished. Some people I know worked part time first and then got hired full time later on. It just depends on job availabilities in your area!
Hi, I've really enjoyed your helpful videos. Do you have any tips on how to avoid debt for someone who would like to pursue the pharmaceutical career?
Unfortunately, it is hard to pursue this career without a substantial amount of debt unless you have generous family members to help support you financially. You can try your best to get into public pharmacy schools (example UCSF, UCSD, etc) since their tuition is slightly cheaper compared to private pharmacy schools. However, it is very very competitive and difficult to get into those type of schools. You can also try to get a job at a federal hospital once you graduate so that you can be eligible for PSLF (Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program) - in which you pay the minimum loan payments for 10 years and the remaining balance will be forgiven by the US government. Aww thank you for the support! 🥰 sorry, I unfortunately do not know about the process in India. Are pharmacy residencies offered there? That might be a good route to pursue clinical/hospital pharmacy!

After b pharm you can apply for Pharm D program as a post baccalaureate. You will directly enter into 4th year of Pharm D without going through the first 3 years. After B Pharm, Pharm D will be a 3 year program.
