I love your content - your voice is soothing, and while I don't play XI (I'm a XIV player), I still find these guides interesting and relaxing to listen to. Frankly, you could talk about anything and I'd probably listen to it. ❤️
I think Sakpata(and the new odyssey sets in general), are very strong, but fairly balanced because none of them seem to really have any store tp(outside of maybe one piece per set). IMO SE did a great job with these sets, because they have a lot of desirable stats, and are very strong, but aren't BIS in every option it seems. Thanks for the insight on the current state of PLD Ruau, enjoyed your video as always!
I feel the need to point out that RUN can use Nyame for even higher m.eva. People keep forgetting RUN can use it because it's all jobs, but with Runes stacked on it helps them maintain that edge in m.eva.
Sword and shield has always been the superior weapon choice. It's about time SE has seen the light :P Great video! Love your work. Haven't been able to play since the world closed. But now I have lots to look forward too for my return. :)
Very nice guide. One thing that makes me wonder tho is what you said about enmity from nukes at 17:20 Whats your source for this? I know magic WSs work like that (the enmity is based on base damage before multipliers), but I have never heard anything about damage from spells working the same. I think I heard something about magic bursts having much less enmity, but Im not sure if thats connected to magic bursting itself, or magic bursting on BLM (enmity-20 on magic burst from Job points)
Interesting about the elemental resistance. I wonder if that'll mean the RUN's AF body will still be one of the best pieces for tanking because of its elemental resists (i.e. instead of Nyame body).
Also my point of view on PLD dding. While Sakpata improved PLD dps, it also improved survivability of WAR, DRK and other DD (with Nyame instead of Sakpata) to the point that in 90% of scenario where PLD can use hybrid set and DD, you can just use any DD with Sakpata or Nyame and dont use "true" tank at all.
When it comes to party support, do you think that runefencer still excels? I ask because i always thought that RUN had the ability to not only raise it's own magic defense, but that of it's party members to.
Honestly in a better place than it has been for years, it is still in need of a final update to truly fix it though. It is not the same job it was back at the Lv.75 cap though, heads up there.
@@SplitFinn i dont understand "guides" that spend so much time explaining the most retardedly high end end game top level gears like it matters to players who need a guide. wwhy dont you explain rotations, boss fight quirks and when specifically during what fights i should look out for rampart or something. I sit here for 10 minutes and listen to you blather about tier 13 excalibur and epiolatry and all this eng game gear like it fucking matters. a BiS A and B text list can do that for me INSTANTLY.
@@vanillaa679 I totally agree every time I search for ffxi guides its always videos about some person with end game gear saying end game gear is good. These guides don't help. They make me depressed cause there is no way if not extremely hard to obtain in the games current state of everybody and there mothers are multi boxing.
ok so i feel like- R15 Excalibur + Sirvasta +full sakpata just invalidated the Ochain and Aegis. i'm playing with this combo right now on omen bosses, and i'm getting an absolutely disgusting 88% block rate over 10 minute fight with a good reprisal set up (about 4.4k hp on cast). just the raw blockrate and shield skill on the sirvasta when paired with the incredible magic evasion on sakpata, and that juicy +10% block rate on R15 xcal, has completely changed tanking for me. in full zerg fights now i'm EASILY keeping threat. did WOC with arguably the two best DPS on my server with them getting maximum buffs and had ZERO trouble holding in those conditions. i'm getting a good 20-30k on KOTR and i still need a few niche things. Savages are easily getting up to 40k now.
Hey Ruau, I don't know if you check these comments anymore but I'm a newish player checking out this guide and I keep seeing you talk about something called "Fosavente" as the captions say. When I check BG-Wiki, I can't find anything under that name so I was wondering if you could type the name in the comments here so I could copy and paste since I suppose the captions are wrong
Rua I like your videos quite a bit and I have even played with you during Odyssey but you always make comments about not needing Ochain and saying you can tank without it just fine but the same is true for just about everything else in the game , I understand you don't have it , just get it and build sets that are just like everything else situational.
This is true, it is not reasonable to expect new players to have it out the gate. This is why this second part is for the more advanced aspects of the job, like trying to DPS or using a Hybrid build. Once said new player has the fundamental basics down and some of the gear outlined in part one they're a match for Kalunga on V0, at which point they can get the Sakpata.

Love your PLD guides man. Awesome stuff. I could listen to you talk about FFXI all day.
If you happen to see this could you share the great sword build? I love the idea of being a paladin and using a greatsword

Sakpata's is just so good. Has me eyeing warrior these days. Now after watching this it’s got me eyeing pld too
Love the videos, it just brings out how deep this game truly is.
Got work in 4 hours, going to be tired anyways... might as well watch this lol. Thanks for the content man.

Just started to play PLD thank you!

Paladin guide II Sakpata's boogaloo
Where does this leave RUN? The Agwu set is interesting but it doesn’t seem as substantial of a resource in comparison to the Sakpata set.

I'm finna be a BRUTE, let me properly adjust my sets.
Does this mean bst guide in the near future as well =)?
What mod do you use to get your gear to look so clean.
Incoming blurred shield price hike
Hi Rua, how is BST these days? Thinking about coming back to the game and playing BST

Why did you choose that ammo piece

I can still see comments since I still use my YT account to post comments on other peoples videos.
Thief next!
Great video, thanks ^^
Blah, time to play pld again... :p But seriously great guide.
thanks for the content, your voice puts me to sleep -Saiytanic
Are you still playing at all Rua?
Nah.
Sorry, been retired for 2 years almost.
