    Join me as I walk through the Hamvention flea market and video some very nice vintage ham radio gear. Collins, Hammarlund, Johnson, National and more.
    I'm an Amateur Radio enthusiast. I love the hobby and experimenting with radios, antennas and software. I have a lot of fun. On my UA-cam channel I upload videos mostly on the Icom 7300 and Icom 7610 as well as Ham Radio software programs. I hope to inspire people to get involved in Amateur Radio.

    I credit 3 older Hams both w/coaxing me to get my Ham license, and getting me addicted to Hamfests! Those crazy guys would be up before dawn to hit the highway for several Hamfests! Always starting the Summer w/the biggest of em all, the Dayton Hamfest! Spent as much time visiting w/other Hams as we did gawking and buying. All those fellas are gone now.

      b3j8 Yeah I think they’re a lot of fun and I wish we had more in our area. I guess we’ll just have to carry on the tradition, right? I hope all is well with you, take care and best 73!

    Great video. I enjoyed seeing the vintage rigs. I see (@ 11:27), my old National NC-173 receiver I had in high school in 1963. Big and heavy but got the job done. 73s...

    Some nice stuff.. Thanks for sharing. I also listen to the BBC daily. I work nights, so it's the only thing on when I get off in the morning. Can't check in, I can only listen due to antenna restrictions.

    All these Golden oldies make the modern rig look like cheap trash.
    I could take $5k there, and come home broke!

    Very hard to find any of these fine boat anchors here down under.

    Nice survey of older equipment, thanks for posting! Is it just my imagination or have the prices at hamfests gone up significantly since the advent of online sites such as eBay? It seems to me it used to be easier to find "bargains" a few decades ago than it is now.

      VE3ENX It is nice to hear from you and I hope all is well where you are. I agree I think prices are up due to eBay, but as always, if you wait long enough they come down towards the end of the show.Take care, stay safe and best 73!

    I love these flea markets but have never bought anything. In general, are radio owners selling good, solid equipment or faulty junk? I dont see anything being tested and demonstrated. Also, prices are pretty high for used gear. Do radios EVER depreciate? Youd think they dont by the prices Ive seen.

    • @HamRadioAdventures
      @HamRadioAdventures  5 років тому +2

      Nice to hear from you and thanks for commenting here. Yes there is a lot of very good equipment for sale at the Hamvention flea market. Some of the vintage radios in the video were restored by qualified Hams. Great condition! Of course there was the other side, which was in need of repair. Priced low though. I saw a lot of good prices on much of the equipment. Other Ham radio flea markets will vary :-) Thanks again and 73!

      @@HamRadioAdventures Thanks for the reply and the video, its very appreciated. And sorry if i sounded negative, it wasnt the intention. In the case of used equipment, ive met some really great, knowledgable Elmers who want to help and do the right thing, then you meet some nasty arrogant folks who kinda spoil it. Remember there are new people all the time and its probably helpful to narrate your video to explain some of the items, how they are used and even what you think they are worth.
