I found the channel and the history videos during my search for material for learning Spanish. Now im just watching, because the history part is super interesting and i want to know, how it continues....
In English, there is a song about the history of Columbus that was taught in schools when I was growing up. It begins, "In fourteen ninety-two / Columbus sailed the ocean blue." That's all I remember but I know there are several more stanzas. Are there any songs or similar mnemonics in Spanish for Columbus?
Love your history series. it is soooooo coool. Please tell us more about the history of Moors, history of Catalonia, or the Spanish Civil War (in more detail). I just love it. So beautiful.
This history series is super great, I love it!! Thank you for going through that trouble of doing the research for these videos (as you said in a q&a video)! ❤
Using myself as a data point Pablo.. This is a fairly advanced video in a great way. Despite the drawing, it felt more advanced than some in your 'Advanced' category, which makes sense given the dense & serious subject matter (this felt more advanced than, for example, a video like Things that Surprised me in Japan). I've listened to about 90-100h of CI, starting from absolute zero (knew nothing beyond 'Hola') with your SuperBeginner videos 6 weeks ago. I estimate that I understood ~90% of this video. You have an amazing sense of when to clarify certain words and rephrase complicated ideas. The ~10% I didn't understand were initial words you used, and then reiterated in a different way. Judging by your blog, I know you love studying this stuff and learning about what's working and what's not, so I thought I'd share. It makes me think how much of this video a standard student studying Spanish "traditionally" for 90h would understand... 🤔😁
@@DreamingSpanish I can feel it too, but keep thinking it's a fluke somehow. Looking at the roadmap, based on hours, I should be at Beginner, but am confidently able to understand intermediate, and some advanced content. It feels like a mass input, bordering on immersion thing. I've been making sure to mix it up and continue absorbing Beginner content as well. Still feel 100s of hours away from speaking though (words or phrases pop into my head, but not much else) Interesting to think about the effect of mass input in a short amount of time vs. lower amounts over a longer period.
Great video. I also love the history videos. Are you planning to make any videos about the history of other Spanish speaking countries, like the Incas from Peru?
nope thats black legend, there was a law where it was actually illegal to enslave native filipinos, its the education system in our country thats bringing misinformation....
I'm a Filipino who is currently living in the U.S, but I know that the notion that we were all hopelessly oppressed and treated as slaves by the Spaniards is false. When the Americans colonized us after Spain, they made sure to demonize Spain and all it did in the Philippines, ignoring all the good it has contributed to our country. Yes there were also bad, mainly some governers who were treating some Filipinos bad without the Spanish government noticing. However, as another comment here stated, slavery was prohibited. Even Jose Rizal himself wanted Philippines to be part of Spain.
This is great Pablo. Would love to see you do a similar series for other countries.
I hope that no matter how advanced the language in videos gets, you continue to make horse noises whenever you say ‘horse’. 😁 You’re the best!
Honestly I often realize that I should gesture less in the intermediate videos. 😂
@@DreamingSpanish pls keep the horse noises. i love them too!
I love all of your history videos, it's one of your best series! Thank you for these, hope you'll make more in the future :)
Más videos de historia por favor! Gracias!
Another really interesting video. I'm really enjoying these Spanish history videos!

I really liked the whole history series, are you planning more episodes?
Yes!

I didn't learn any songs about Columbus growing up, so I don't think there are any that are widely known.
Muchas gracias!
Tell us something about simplified stories of Classical Spanish literature or something like that. Love your content soooooo much.

@@nickmiller945 how is your Spanish now
Muy interesante.
I'm curious about how spaniards today usually feel about their imperial history 👀

Yes! When we finish with Spain we'll do other countries.

Is there someone who does similar videos like you but in German?
I don't know of anyone, sorry.

We get a good movie about Jeffrey Dahmer before a good one about Columbus.
