Queensland Police Officer Phil Olivetti rose to national fame for his involvement in a jumping castle accident. His notoriety led him to nominate himself for Australian Of The Year. And to exploit his famous catchphrase "Talk About A Rough Day At Work". The documentary "We Can Be Heroes" follows his journey leading up to the awards as he grapples with his new found fame and future life as a motivational speaker.

My God, i had an Uncle named Phil who behaved just like this. Every single thing that fell out of his mouth was pure cringe and everyone in his vicinity would look unbearably uncomfortable which made it 10x worse. But he was totally and utterly oblivious. He once stood up at my Cousins wedding and gave a 5 minute speech about his observations on pigeons which he could see outside of the window. It was so insane that everyone laughed hysterically. He pointed out that pigeons were not a laughing matter.
Totally bonkers.
The naturalness of the acting is just phenomenal!

The "Tommy Emmanuel's" & "Hoodoo Gurus" music selection is a very clever joke. It's so accurate for this character is amazing. Even though it was small, one of my favorite things in the whole series.

Probably one of the most underrated Chris Lilley characters. And what’s so funny is I read Phil is suppose to live in Bray Park, which is the suburb I live in. Idk if it was actually filmed there, but the fact I know someone who lives near me who acts like this is uncanny. Typical goofy North Brisbane behaviour 😂

@@sarah-jaynemcdonald2594 The issue was that he performed in blackface, he also portrayed an Asian woman and a boy from Tonga. He's a white man and it's 2021. It's perfectly OK to play a woman or girl, but if you really want to write about black/Asian people etc., hire actors who are from those ethnicities. It's only natural that these things are frowned upon, and he knew that before he made those shows.

What a talent he's got the goods and people need to be served
What I think is brilliant about the show is how you nailed the very subtle differences between states. Even within the broad class distinctions of Daniel, Phil, Pat and Ja'mie, you make them sound specifically like they're from that state and not the others.
I wanna see how Phil is doing during the pandemic.
But the best part was Phill's face when they were reading the winners names out and he still thought he had a chance.
