Just think, if Beeching had even a temote vision of the future, that could be an electrified main line from London, but instead it’s doomed to live out the rest of its days as a trundling heritage line. Very sad.
You all prolly dont give a damn but does any of you know of a trick to get back into an instagram account? I was dumb forgot the password. I love any tricks you can give me
@Gordon Achilles I really appreciate your reply. I found the site thru google and im in the hacking process atm. Seems to take quite some time so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
As Paul says, they're very much historical - they're part of a system the Great Central used called accelerating distants. Also bear in mind that colour light signals have been in use on the UK mainline for around 100 years now!
Indeed, shocking lack of foresight and forward planning. The platform could have been retained and the structures dilapidated as they were could have been dismantled and mothballed instead of being raised with hammers. They failed to consider future possibilities of which there were many and now there is the monstrosity of Leicester North which is totally out of keeping with the other heritage features.
For better or worse, it's Leicester North Station , just south of the former, and unfortunately lost, Belgrave & Birstall Station that is now just history. Overall, I can live with that, as I bet the residents of Station Road Birstall can. They could not have relished the thought of the potential problems over traffic and visitors had that particular station have been saved and re-opened. It will be interesting see what happens at the Nottingham end after reunification.
A great video. I love the Class 20s. I did the 'Driver for a fiver' on the 20 at Loughborough a few years ago. Wonderful.
what does the driver for a fiver include?
Tip from a coach driver from years back - if the demist isn't working, rub the screen with a raw potato. It wotks!
So lovely to see the steam train coming the other way
It's long overdue that the last remaining single line section is doubled into Leicester North.
Though reuniffication is higher priority.
Thank god you bought a 52 piece crockery set to leave in the cab too......lol

sad to think... Those Bloody car lovers! Imagine all the EMR Services Running on that with Shiny 360s and 222s!
Noticed light inside remains of old station under the bridge. Is it the old lamp room used for storage at Leics North.
Just spent a day on the line, and I would love it if you could do this again in decent weather

@Gordon Achilles it worked and I finally got access to my account again. I am so happy!
Thanks so much you really help me out!
@Travis Kyson happy to help :D
Great video, thank you. The only turn off is those 2 distant signals being modern light signals rather than old semaphores.
I'm not 100% sure but I think those colour light distant signals where colour light in BR days, I would appreciate if anyone can confirm that.

They are authentic BR from when the line was open throughout.
Way past time that section was doubled.
24:42 - lovely view of classic LNE signals :-)
Great video nice camera angle
Class 158 Productions Thank you :)
Don't you mean Belgrave and Birstall to Loughbrough
Belgrave and Birstall doesn't exist any more.
