- One of the great moments in Finals history, Klay Thompson tears his ACL, gets ushered into the locker room, turns BACK around and checks himself into the game, then knocks down 2 free throws... He even tried to stay in the game and play on it afterwards. A true warrior in every sense of the word. Wish nothing but the best for Klay man, hoping for a speedy recovery. To make this even more legendary, after the game, Steve Kerr told reporters what Klay said to him as he was taken into the locker room;
"Just a two minute rest, I'll be ready." with a torn ACL. And if y'all watched the full telecast of the game you'd know that Klay RAN back into the locker room, and also was jumping up and down in the tunnel trying to talk Warriors trainers into letting him back on the court.... this man is a warrior.

@@gordonraleigh5647 If it was during a regular season game then yeah no doubt the stupidest move ever. But this was the NBA Finals. His team was on the verge of winning 3 titles in a row. They didn’t have KD anymore and were down 3-2 in the Series. It was all or nothing. In the end he didn’t come back, but you have to appreciate he was willing to give everything just to win. I wouldn’t call that stupidity.
This moment will be forever burned into my memory. I will always have respect for Klay for this

TRUE WARRIOR RIGHT THERE. I gotta say, when I saw that live I thought for sure he had torn something, I've never ever seen Klay in that level of pain before. Was painful to see, and then I saw him jumping and running I thought he was okay, but he fucking tore his ACL and tried to play in the game.

1:11 when his right leg swung wildly out to the right after contact, the stage was set for a catastrophic injury because he intended to land on both legs. Since half the base (his right leg) was taken out, Klay’s left leg was left to take the impact from a very unstable position as the combined momentum from his jump and the contact from Green in the air have him going forward and to his right (left of screen). He was not prepared to land on one leg and that’s why the landing was a problem, and this was compounded by the fact that he was more focused on the ball (1:12) rather than landing safely and he doesn’t even seem to notice he is about to land.
I am so happy he is back and healthy and see him returning to full strength within a year (as if injuries never happened). I also see him having a new career high in points within next two seasons. 🙏

It’s not hard to bend your knee when you tear an acl. I tore mine and walked off fine and could bend it a bit until the adrenaline wore off in the morning

That was an inspiring heroic action. He had an idea how bad/dangerous/scary it was and did it anyway. That’s what being a hero is, KNOWING that doing what needs to be done is terrifying but finding the courage to do it, no matter how small or insignificant the action may seem.

Yeah and I think he was planning on landing with both feet but that became difficult with right leg swinging wildly after impact (1:11) and then at 1:12 he is more focused on the ball than on his position in space so it seems he doesn’t even realize he is about to land.

I was so scared this would be the last time we saw Klay play like Klay. I thought he wouldn't be the same player. I'm so glad I was wrong. His first season back, Dubs went to the Finals, and all throughout their playoff run, you wouldn't even have thought that he'd been injured. It was amazing to see. Much respect to the future Hall Of Famer and one of the best shooters of all time.

Like I said unless you’ve had one you wouldn’t know the pain. It’s scientifically impossible to bend your knee in which an important ligament is fucked.
Well it depends on how bad the strain is. Grade 1, 2, 3? He may have not had a complete acl tear and with his PCL still intact as well as his patellar ligament it would still allow him to walk, jump and bend but with pain. I've never seen a man try and play off an ACL tear, so even if it was a grade 1 he's a champ for trying to play it off. Coming from Houston. I'm assuming you had a grade 3 tear. Hope it's all healed up man.
