    Just installed the coil kit on my Kohler 26 hp courage and adjusted the valves like your other video showed, let it sit 2 days for the valve covers to dry, they were leaking also, fired it up today and it ran like a champ, better than new. Valves were out a little not to bad, can't thank you enough, sure wish I could buy you a beer or two or three.................... thanks again !

    This video is a lifesaver! After struggling with my mower losing power off and on for about a month, I finally figured out that it was dropping a cylinder and ordered this kit from kohler. The video was made on a mower exactly like mine and the instructions were so good that the whole project went off without a hitch. Fixed it in 4 hours and 2 beers for $80. And I even had an extra zip tie and Krohler sticker! Thanks for the great directions.

    I have a 2008 Walker super bee 27 hp. It never gave me a problem…until I smelled something…the coil caught fire! Two buckets of water from the pool and the hose put out the melted plastic. I removed the engine…horizontal shafts are a pain. I luckily found your video. I had no clue about the mystery wire. Thanks for the dinner.

    End of month, out of data, so went ahead and got the shroud off. Then decided to go to the library and watch this vid. I had made the mistake of taking the bottom screw out of the oil cooler, and it was a struggle to get out. But I shortened this screw to 7/16" "thread" length and it went back in pretty easily. So the oil cooler is bent out of the way just like Taryl says to do, and I'm awaiting the kit. Always, always consult Taryl first.

    Just went through the same procedure but on a CH25 Kohler. This engine had already been converted to the magneto system. It ran fine, but wouldn't stop decently. Turn the key off and the engine would run on one cylinder. This was verified by looking at the plugs after shut down. One was dry, the other wet. I also used a spark tester to verify what was going on. After the key was switched off, the right side had no spark but the left continued to spark. So, I installed two new genuine Kohler coils and it solved the problem. Apparently, the bad coil even though the engine ran perfectly, had an open kill circuit which resulted in that coil continuing to fire.

    They must have updated the instructions. Step 4 of the DSAI Module instructions references the "eyelet of the RFI sheathing" to put under the module mounting screw, just like you said, Taryl. For the DSAM Module instructions, you get to step 8, and it tells you to go back to the DSAI Module instructions to complete steps 3 - 12, including that Step 4 that references the "eyelet of the RFI sheathing." All good now - hope this helps someone else - Another GREAT instruction Video from Taryl.

    I am doing this for the second time. The first set lasted 2 seasons. Koehler said it was due to voltage spike from elactric blade engagement. The guy from Koehler was awesome, he walked me through the whole process of checking the switch and sure enough it had a spike. A mechanic friend confermed that it is plausible that the clutch/engagement will use a little more power to pull it in as it ages. I thought this only happened to ME 😂. The guy from Koehler gave me all the part #s for the coils ( coils only ,not the whole kit) saved me $20.00 then he gave me the part # 25 755 31-s for the DIODE KIT. Told to install the diode nline. I'm thinking it is like a one way valve for electric. I am a skeptical person but this all makes sense because for the last 3 years I have been getting more and more fire ants. The last time I counted, I stopped at 70 over six acres.I always put stuff on every mound.I am in the process of doing the install now. I put it off all winter because of another neck fusion, now I have to do it because I can't find the coil replacement Gennie. I'll let everyone know how it works out. Thanks Taryl for the little reminders ( hidden bolts I forgot about).

    TARYL ! Have you considered using dielectric grease for electrical contacts ? I use it all the time from plug-ins/connectors to 12 V light sockets. It promotes contact and reduce the chances of corrosion.

    • @TarylFixesAll
      @TarylFixesAll  7 років тому

      R Verro indeed we do use that, it's in the Valco Gel Lube we sell. That's not the problem in this case though.

    • @jhitt79

      R Verro dielectric grease is an insulator, it actually doesn't conduct electricity. So it really doesn't promote contact.

I ended up rre-tapping the hole ,,, but then the bolt was to big for the hole so I drilled out the mounting hole. I never got it running again after that. Do you think me modifying the coil's hole had a lot to do with that.

    Great video but question, I have a 2004 Ferris 1000z with a cv20s , pulled right plug wire and it died, pulled the left and no change so I’m thinking it has to be the coil. Problem is there’s no engine tag/decal . Need help to order the right coil kit. Thanks

    Thanks for your video! Just FYI, when I got my part I tore into my mower, started taking things out (and throwing stuff away) and then I look at the new part they gave me and it is NOT A NEW PART. Both modules have big scuffs and a couple dings taken out of them. Pretty crappy of Sears Parts Direct to sell me a used part. It did work, but I didn't feel confident installing it. Would have sent it back, but I needed the mower to run today.

    Can you tell us why the screen goes on the outside of the cover ? Im so tempted to cut the cover out , so i can remove plastic cover without taking that round screen off ..,one of mine dont have the thicker built up double plastic rings molded into it like that one around the edge of that round screen , all horizontal shaft kohlers , ech-749 , three 730's the covers all fit but they got different holes designed in them , one has the key mounted in the plastic cover , vermeer 252

    Would I go about installing my new coils the same way as you done on that one on my Kohler command twin cylinder CV742? It looks similar to mine that your working on. Mine is a 2016 model

    Does one coil bad have any effect on the other coil. I have no spark on either side

    I got a 13 hp kohler command. Something messed up in the wiring so I disconnected it. It run good for 1 time. Went to start it a few weeks later and it has no spark. Does the coil require electric to make it work or shoukd it be able to run without the kill a ire being hooked up? Cause it run 1 time with kill wire disconnected but now no spark
