Choreographer’s Note: The piece was, in part, inspired by Wong Kar-Wai's 2000 film "In The Mood For Love." Since the film was set in Hong Kong, I casually asked a friend born and raised there what he thought of the city. He told me it was fast in an impersonal way, transitory, always changing, yet a romantic at heart. It contains a complicated relationship with its past, future, and present. I immediately thought of neon flickering lights in an urban landscape, a canvas of fleeting moments. Physical and metaphorical. 'Flick' also happens to be a dated term for a movie. Nice, it's canon.
