For more context, Jin knows how to play the guitar. He was just pretending he didn't know so that Chris Martin could show him.
Jin plays guitar in a couple BTS acoustic performances. You should check those out!
Also, it was because of Jin being a fan of Coldplay that Chris Martin learned about BTS.
If you watch the live fancam of BTS performing "My Universe," Jin's voice is the most distinct in the chorus, which is a shame why he only got one line in the song.
So Jin being humble and letting his other members have the most lines in "My Universe," despite being the biggest Coldplay fan of BTS, went full circle when he has a solo song co-written and performed with Coldplay called "The Astronaut."
We can say that each member has only one solo line (except JK who has 2), in a song everything is important and they shine all together bc backing vocals and choirs are extremely important to make a song.
I would say My Universe shows perfectly the union between Coldplay and BTS, as a group and a team 💜
The AMAs messed up the audio on that performance so bad, it actually sounds normal in fancams. They tried to mute the audience cheers but they didn't do it right. They did fix it for the butter performance tho! Thank you for the reaction! 💜

omg what's bad is the live stream from tv sounded even worse then the performance uploaded on Coldplay's page. That's how bad they messed up the sound. Butter was a little better but again it sounds better on the bangtantv upload then it did on tv. We were all excited but also frustrated cuz the sound was so bad (even compared to other performances, likely because of the screaming fans a lot of army came there) many gp were saying they didn't think they could sing but a few others luckily pointing out they watched them on carpool karaoke and clearly they can on there. It's just frustrating if people get a bad first impression having never heard them live before if it's due to horrible audio quality. The fancams were better despite the loud screams lol. Loved this reaction and so glad you watched the documentary and the bangtan bomb of them meeting with coldplay
@@SirAustin yeh seems like the audio engineers struggled with that many mics for whatever reason…. You can only hear a few of them from the live show.. but they had no problem during butter.. which they did after… so I duno what was up with that but the fancams sounded great … so who knows lol
I love how selfless they are. Chris was all the time giving Jin the space to take the stage and make it his own but Jin didn’t do that. It’s just so adorable and their friendship is one of the most beautiful things ever 💜

My Universe is a real collaboration, and not just an artist writing a verse that may or may not have anything to do with the song it’s for. Like you said, Chris seems to have real respect for BTS as artists and not just as this worldwide phenomenon.

I was at the fourth night of the BTS LA concerts at SoFi when Coldplay came out to perform this (it was also Jin's birthday) and I feel so lucky to have been able to be there, even thought I was literally in the VERY last row lol. No bad seat at a BTS concert, at all.

totally agree with the last thing you said. BTS has way of capture your heart no matter who you are. they are just so pure hearted people and they love making music and by doing so they accidentally helped people too with their lyrics witch was not something they excepted. what i like the most is that they don't try to hard to gain fans it just happens. they are just themself they show their weakness and guffy sides. with other groups i always get the feeling that what they say is not their words and that also ties with the fact that they sing songs other people have wrote for them.
they don't make music they like and often it shows when they perform. one thing is to be passionate for dancing and performing.
another is the feeling of pride when your hard work pays off and people actually love you for who you are and what you have made. i think that´s what BTS love the most about their success.
RM even said it to Pharrell in their interview. he don't want to disappoint fans but at the same time he want to stay true to himself and always tell the truth because that is what we love most about BTS. they could chose to kept jin´s enlistment a secret until December but jin wanted to say goodbye to his fans. i dont think any other band or artist have done that before. at least no one i have heard about
I'm very happy that you reacted to behind the scenes of My Universe, I was not a big fan of Coldplay either but I know how important they are and I like some of their songs, but they have earned a place in my heart for the way they took this collaboration, for love of art and true union and admiration between artists.
At the end the way Chris extends his hand to Jin: "The stage is yours" gesture, made me laugh and cry at the same time.
when bts debuted they didn't had any other boy group in bighit to look up for advices like other groups usually have, and now they literally have the biggest band in the world calling them friends and giving advices, i saw this on twitter once and made me realize how life's crazy
Yoongi in this era was crazy, people were saying to close all the gyms because they couldn't handle Yoongi bulking up, plus that gray hair really suit him. Coldplay and BTS together are so heartwarming, it's a genuine relationship. They don't collab to smooch off each other's fame but really trying to spread a good message.

Chris Martin showed up as a surprise guest on day 4 of PTD LA. They performed My Universe together at a BTS concert. Which makes it even cooler that Jin got to performe at a Coldplay concert.

Jungkook’s voice in this song is so addicting, its so beautiful!!! his vocal abilities, talents and his personality always impress the people he works with:) they always praise him and he deserves it so much! His parts went viral and people were referring to him with the specific times where he sang in the song and called him an angel!

Coldplay's album 'Music of the Spheres' is a space themed concept album and has a fictional planetary system with 9 planets and each connected to a track. So the 'My Universe' music video is a part of that.

The song had only been out one day when he flew to Argentina... pretty impressive that the crowd knew the words and melody. The last I love you sung reminds me of the voices from the 60's bands... so cool
That was amazing and beautiful to me too, the fancams gave me chills because there were people belting the lyrics with passion you'd think only reserved for a classic, and honestly it may already be a classis atp its just so good.
this friendship bts got with coldplay is very wholesome and i'm glad they now got seniors in the industry who genuinely love and appreciates them and can give them advice and help them, and knowing they (jin) told them about their military decision before everyone else means they really trust them and i love it 💜 amas messed up the audio in their performance because they were trying to mute the audience :/ so it's better to watch the performance in their ptd concert, chris was there and performed with them it was like a week or so after the amas one, also it's not in the ptd concert on disney+ because that one is d2 from their la shows (they performed butter with megan) but the my universe performance was on d4 so you're gonna have to watch it on it own

True both Coldplay and BTS show a lot of dedication to the song and all aspect of making the song not just a song to be collaborative. They wanted to make a different and send a message and they delivered.

Jin was actually the one that reached out to Coldplay about collaborating for My Universe. He has said for many years that CP is one of his favorite bands. Rock is one of his favorite genres.
The Astronaut is a beautiful song and Jin meant for it to be a happy song to comfort ARMY but with everything that is going on it is a happy song that makes ARMY cry. We can feel his love through this song. Jin's love for ARMY is extremely deep. He doesn't usually show his emotions but he always expresses them through his music. I cry every time I hear The Astronaut because I know that he wrote this song as a farewell for now song and I wonder if we deserve so much love from Jin. Everything he and BTS does has always been for ARMY. When he sings "and I love you" it's like he is giving me a big hug 😭

I'm so happy that you watched the Documentary! I've never considered myself a Coldplay fan, but I've like a few of their songs over the years. I first liked Yellow, and then was mildly obsessed with their song Clocks after hearing it in the trailer for the 2003 Peter Pan movie (my god I didn't realize how old that movie was until I looked it up for this comment). But I never really knew much about the band or what they were about. I have SO MUCH more respect for them after I first saw this documentary. The excitement and eagerness that Chris displayed, as well as how readily he was handing out compliments to the guys. I always appreciate western artists who actually seem to appreciate the members, and genuinely seem to enjoy the collaboration. Steve Aoki, Halsey, Max, Lauv, Coldplay, Becky G, and Megan Thee Stallion all seem very sincere in their love for BTS. And this is the first time I'm seeing the documentary after The Astronaut...so seeing Jin's comment about his surprise that Coldplay was willing to collaborate with them?! Please I can't handle the feels that brings... I doubt the Jin that made that comment would believe what was in his future with Coldplay.

I love Kim Seokjin generally speaking, but my fave genre of Jin has got to be Jin as a pick me girl character in a 90s movie. It's the most hilariously sweet and endearing thing. Proof that he should get into acting officially. He basically twirled his hair going, "Oh Chris, I've never seen a guitar in real life before. You're sooo good at playing it. Can you teach me?" All the while, there is video footage of this man playing the guitar live on stage in front of tens of thousands of ARMY. Like sir, please lmaooo. And Suga and RM are the two types of friends you'll have in the movie. The one who will call you out (Suga) and the one who will cheer you on when you pretend to play a note for the first time (RM). Namjoon is the true MVP and wingman. The most hilarious part is that it worked. He got a signed autograph and Chris is wrapped around his finger (because who doesn't fall for our Jin's charm).
Oh n ooo let's not compare him to a 'pick-me' girl, that trope is so meh, especially if everyone in the room is already in love with you anyway and giving you gifts lmao, Chris already knew about Jin cause he said it himself he did 'research' (hence knowing CNS and WWH), i love that he was already smitten enough to give him his favorite guitar. My favorite interaction of them is when Chris shows up at their PTD concert and from the moment Chris hugs him, they cant stay far for long. But you're right that Jin as an actor is very much needed officially, which obviously will happen one since they've been requesting for him forever. Also I love that, Rm and Yoongi are to me the most 'father like' figures of bts so the fact that they can be so cute when it comes to Jin, even though he's the eldest, is my favorite thing ever. A real family.

I never paid much attention to Coldplay before, but my late husband, a rock bass player liked some of their songs. My husband appreciated many different genres including r&b, country and classical.
The video says We Are All One in the Universe - at the end. Such a lovely relationship they have with each other!!! BTW, if you watch the acoustic version video (which will be on Coldplay's youtube), you can REALLY hear who's singing what line and hear all the harmonies. BTW, you should check out all the stuff from that trip to NYC!!!! Lots of goodies in there!

I was a Coldplay stan before I became an ARMY. so when there were rumors that they gonna collab..I was on denial , trying not to hype myself up because I don’t want to be clowned.and when they announced it, I was just in heavens…two of my fave artists, same vision, philosophy and outlook ..then when they announced they gonna do their solo music.I thought about Jin(my bias) would work with Chris as he is a big fan however I suppressed my hopes cuz I don’t want to be disappointed. but it happened…like wow I never thought before that two of my fave men in one frame is just goosebumps for me. This BTS Coldplay collab was meant to happen…their relationship will be forever and beyond music now.
Chris Martin was a surprise guest on D4 of the SOFI LA concerts, which I was honored to attend and can attest to everyone going absolutely bonkers when he came out. Weverse did a live broadcast of D4, Disney+ is showing D3 with Megan Thee Stallion as the surprise guest on Butter. FYI Jin can play guitar, he was being humble saying he couldn't, Jin played guitar onstage at a Japanese fan meeting in 2016 and Jin/V/Jimin sang acoustic versions of BTS songs in Japanese.
Honestly, I didn't really care for the song at first. However, after I watched the documentary, I fell in love with it. Seeing the organic process made it so much more meaningful, as you said.

Funny, but Jin knew how to play guitar before this. I think he didn't tell Chris because he was fearful he would ask him to play the guitar. Jin is still learning it.
I just remember that they were kinda emotional, nervous and excited at the same time around AMA cause it's the first time they performed in front of live audience after 2 years... Then Namjoon literally cried when they had their sound check for their concert

Chris was definitely one of the best collaborators to ever work with BTS. You can tell he actually took the effort to know the members before he visited them. Like you said he had a deep understanding of how their voices worked and who would suit what. I always loved Coldplay but I have a way deeper respect now

When Coldplay first appeared I had the same OMG I LOVE THIS that I later had when I first listened to BTS. The song My Universe just lifts me up. I 💜 it so much.

Love the hoodie! A lot of ARMY don't know this, but Coldplay were the first contemporary group to create a "storyline" using various media (songs, music videos, a comic book series). Coldplay released "Mylo Xyloto" in 2011, but had been working on the concept since 2008. Not sure if they inspired it but very soon after this K-pop groups started creating storylines - starting with EXO in 2012.
Coldplay's storyline in short: Mylo is a soldier for a totalitarian regime that wants to wipe out sound and color. He hunts rebel Sparkers. He meets Xyloto who he was tasked to kill, learns he is the son of famous rebels, falls in love and joins them (in the comic book Mylo is named Mylo Xyloto and the rebel is named Fly). It's easy to see how a collab between two groups from opposite sides of the planet mirrors the Coldplay storyline. In this MV, a rebel DJ is connecting 3 planets using holograms for an illegal concert. The silencer ship comes to get her but she escapes with the help of the three groups. One thing I noticed is that the Silencer ship looks like a Covid virus. If you look closely you can see Coldplay fans wearing L'Afrique-style eye makeup in Argentina.
Coldplay also introduced the first radio-controlled stadium light show devices in 2011 with their Xyloband lighted wrist bands. They helped invent them. Xylobands are given out free at shows then collected, cleaned and recycled until the end of a tour. Then the electronics are removed for re-use and the wrist bands are composted.
BTS and who they are and the real love between us and them is really truly special. I've casually enjoyed kpop since 2011, so for the longest time I really assumed I already basically knew what the whole BTS deal was... but I had NO idea, not even in the slightest. It's not remotely like anything I'd ever imagined, and getting to really them kind of rearranged my reality. They turned me into a person I never knew I could be. :')

Sorry for the novel to follow. 😬😜 I found BTS because of My Universe. I like several of Coldplay’s songs and earlier this year around April I saw the MY Universe video and was literally stunned. I realized I had seen these guys on tv in a phone ad. At the time I was a bit mesmerized by the ad thinking how beautiful and different they were (in a good way), but there was a lot going on and I didn’t give it too much thought. Then when I saw them singing with Coldplay and how wonderful it sounded, I got on my laptop and found everything I could on them and I have never stopped since then. Literally have not missed a day.
I completely agree with everything you said about BTS. The more I watched, listened to and read about them, the more I was pulled in. This was something different. Unique. Heartwarming. Inspirational. So many positive words. They have ruined me for all other music. 😂
I’ve tried to get to know some other k-pop groups and most just leave me feeling bleh, except for SHINee. I truly believe that SHINee lead the way for BTS to become what they have. I’ve listened to some others and they aren’t bad, but they don’t have the many qualities that BTS does.
I’m an INFJ and I LOVE deep things. The first music video I saw once I began searching after My Universe was Blood, Sweat & Tears. I was like, oh this is deep. Then I found an explanation video and I was hooked for life. I finally found music I love with deep meanings. I was going to say I found artists who care about people. But, other artists care about people and their fans, but it is somehow different with BTS. It is more than caring. It is a love that I’ve never seen a celebrity have for their fans or people in general.
How could 7 young men be in the entertainment field and stay so genuine, untouched, innocent from the celebrity world and all the crap it brings? Somehow they have and I am so very thankful. I was spiraling down when I found BTS. They helped me find my way back up. I am OT7, first and always, with Yoongi being my soulmate and Hobi my wrecker. Then all the others wreck me one after the other. Just depends who I am looking/listening to at the moment. It’s like having children… It doesn’t matter how many you have, you love them all.
