  • If you want a tree that has been around eviloutionarly since the dinosaurs you could get a Ginkgo biloba, a Norfolk Island Pine or yes a Sago Palm! These trees have been around for about 280 million years so owing one is like having a piece of botanical history in your own yard/livingroom. Careful though these guys can bite and are decked out in some serious armor. If you have one, or plan on getting one sometime in the near future, make sure you check out the entire video so you can keep your slow growing sago happy and thriving! As always plant prudently!

Awesome video so far. I have a small sago palm that a neighbor who passed away had gifted me years ago. A hail storm came through 3 years ago and literally blew the top off, the hail was so bad we had to replace the roof of the house and it totaled the car. So of course I thought it was long dead, but left it in the ground as a small dead garden ornament for some odd reason 🤣. Anyway, two years after that to my surprise I noticed green growth from the base of the plant. So I dug it up and I’m growing it out in a pot now. It’s growing several new heads from around the base. These plants are so tough - I’m naming it “Don,” after my late neighbor. 😍

That's insane! I knew they were tough but damn, they are resilient! Well as long as they aren't overwatered! Hope it sticks around a lot longer now! Keep me updated, I'll do an update video on mine sometime next year if all goes well! 🌲

My name is Amy! My hubby bought me this Sago Palm back in April 2023. I did try the sago plalm fertilizer, but no results from the sago palm fertilizer. Sago Palm has brand new lewves a few months ago. Just found out today that my beautiful Sago Palm has my very first pup today.! I am so exciting bout my very first pup. I am so thrilled for my very first pup today. I used regular miracle grow soil mixed in with berry tone fertilizer and let my Safo pqlm outside with some shade and lots of sunshine for the last 4 or 5 months now. My Sago palm has tons of brand new roots now. :). Thankful i didnt have no pests on my plants for the last 4 to 5 months. I am hoping for more pups soon, hopefully. I love my Sago Palm and my cute Sago Pup now.! Just brought my beautiful Sago Palm and Sago pup in today, since my area is bout to get really cold here soon. My plant loves the berry tone fertilizer. I did ware glvoes, when handling this beautiful plant today. I keep my Sago Palm and Sago pup far away from our cat. Our cat cant reach my beautiful Sago palm plants. I still got a large bag of berry tone left for next spring.

It looks like you have 3 plants in one pot! I had my Sago palm on the deck for 2 1/2 months when I discovered that the fronds were infested with scale. The plant was quite pot-bound, so I removed it & sprayed the fronds clean with my garden hose. After re-potting, I sprayed the fronds with neem oil.

@@OfficialNONCHALANT I see 3 separate palms in the pot in this video. The scale insects on my Sago palm are brown.

Can you use potting soil to replant sagos. How much soil is needed for a medium to large sago, like a 4 or 6 footer?

How do you shrink palm leave size to make it small bonsai? My leaves have elongated long due to lake of light...do I do the same as I do it to normal bonsai plant? Trim roots and chop off all leaves?

Beautiful plant, but not pet friendly. Every part of this plant is poisonous... be aware and keep pets and little ones safe.
