Been carrying this light for a few years now.
The size, clip, and solid functionality for urban life is what keeps it in my pocket.
Clipping it on the collar or chest pocket and using the side light is super handy.
Right angled bigger lights like my Sofirn HS41 will swing around with clipped onto clothes.
The only time I would grab something bigger is when out in the wild because the Rovyvon doesn't work well beyond like 10m.
Unless you get the throw version (Rovyvon A26) which I have not yet tried.

Been carrying the "A-1" for about 2 year's at the end of a 6 foot piece of para-cord as my EDC. Love it and recommend to all. Maybe if/when it crashes on me I'll upgrade but as for now, it's still going strong.

The Gen 2 A28 has been my EDC pretty much for an entire year and I absolutely LOVE it. The UI can get a bit confusing but its capabilities more than makes up for it. I would absolutely recommend it to almost anyone who can memorize basic button pattern and wants a light weight carry with a TON of versatility

Used an olight sr2 baton as edc for 7 years. Never seemed to lose any run time. Just upgraded to an arkfeld pro and love it. Flat flashlight is better for the pocket, and it has a time function which is useful, and max lumen is a ton at 1300. Laser and UV is a bit of a gimmick, but fun to have. Highly recommend if you want something premium.

I think it looks awesome! Honestly if it was $30 I’d definitely get one but I’m too hard on stuff (and too likely to lose it) to pay $55 for a light

I have the older A28 with only one button. I Really carry it every day and it hasn't let me down in over 4 years. We have the smaller ones on all of our keychains too, (the blue UV version looks cool).

I have an older model and it's an amazing tool/tech piece. I do not need to upgrade the same way I do not need to upgrade my phone; however I always find a new phone. I doubt I can hold out for long. Buy this light...you won't regret.

I do like the features of that light packed into a very carry friendly design. It's price point is good in comparison to features. Ive lost so many lights to battery corrosion that I'm only buying rechargeable models now & the new tech is very refreshing. I remember the days not long ago with mag lights the size of a baseball bat that required 6 pounds of 6 D cells to get mediocre light output. The best compact lights I've purchased in the last few years are the compact rechargeable iprotec 300Rc Angle. Rotating pocket clip , magnetic base , swivel bezel head & NO BATTERIES!! Cost .. under 30$.

I have the A7 which looks like a much smaller version of this light. I love it. Had it for years. Having UV on a edc is great. Especially if you travel and want to make sure your hotel sheets are clean! Definitely picking up It's larger brother because i love flashlights but as far as edc is concerned I think it's hard to beat the A7. It's 650 lumens and is a much smaller keychain light.

My first light from RovyVon was the E5 angel eyes and I was very happy with all the features until the clasp for the battery compartment started failing and I was losing batteries and eventually had to retire it. Replaced it with the Aurora A3 and have been very pleased with it as a key chain light. The A28 looks like a better option than the angel eyes series and eventually plan on testing one out in the future. The Nitecore MT2A pro is an epic light that I absolutely love and bought 3! I work EMS and the MT2A pro hits all the marks!

    1. Excellent review
    2. I like the question "is this the right tool".
    3. It is the right tool for you if you are going it alone and if you have enough batteries.
    4. The largest question is do you buy sophisticated because only you will use it or do you KISS and have a number of flashlights at your disposal?
    5. I have the Nitecore and other sophisticated flashlights. I also have the KISS flashlights.
    6. If you fiddle with rechargeables (and that is the way that it will be in the next few years), you need sophisticated recharger units and quality batteries.
    7. I have a flashlight in the car (actually more than one flashlight) and every room in the house and in the garage based upon the KISS principle and the need for availability.
    8. When shtf, it is too late to sit down and read a manual in the dark. I gift car flashlights. A brother called up. He was grateful that he had the car flashlight when he was stuck at night in Nevada.

G'day mate, good points there. At the end of the day, a battery is still a battery .......... with a life. Personally, I gravitate to models, with the more common batteries, that can be swapped over, for either rechargeable ... or not.
I do gift the occasional torch, (or knife), to those close mates ....... that are otherwise hopeless in that respect ; )
However, if it ever comes down to shtf in my location and lifetime, .......... to be honest, I'm keep'n the real good, (and not necessarily more expensive), stuff for myself ......... and yep the vast majority, ........ are KISS jobs too ; )
      Cheers Duke.

Had a couple rovyvon a-1's for years. Keep them on my key fobs so I always have one on my person. They a remarkably powerful, the new ones correct the sequence from low to high to start out high the goes low. Helps to have a quick high lumen first in the event you need to blind someone on 1st on. The strobe is also a nice feature to have. The a-1's started at 650, newer ones started at 700. I have an Olight arkfeld pro if I need uv. These rovyvon a1 have lasted for years at a cost of a out $22. Well worth the small price

G'day Aaron, amazing the electronics that will fit in a small light, imagine what could be done with a bigger fella.
However, couldn't see myself ever using all the bells and whistles, except for fun, and its missing the one feature I demand ............. a replaceable battery.
I do lke the look of the Nitecore job you showed, MT2A Pro, ....... I dont remember it, have you reviewed that one yet ?
    Cheers Duke.
P.S. Re; keychain lights, I use those tiny coin battery jobs, they're enough to avoid a trip hazard and to get a key in a door at night, for example ....... . IF !!! ... I get caught without a proper torch ; )
Even better if you can get one that is common battery with vehicle fob, garage door remote, perhaps a watch, and such ..... mine even happen to be compatible with my kitchen scales ; )

Bought the RovyVon Aurora A29 Brass 4 years ago. Kinda too stubby, the brass is soft, the button took a while to get used to but it was a very reliable edc for many years. Recently got the A3 Gen 4 keychain light and it is tiny. So tiny in fact, I don't know where it is. Got plenty of lights in rotation so it's a non issue. It's a good brand for sure but I don't care for the tiny buttons.

#2 a suggestion - I find myself wanting to see more info on the other products you have on your table in each of you videos, sometimes you have quite a few and it can be difficult to find your video on them. For example you showed a launch 13 in a recent one but didn't mention the name and I couldnt find your video on it, actually took a while since it was way back and i didn't know the name as it wasnt mentioned. (Launch 13)
°° Could you add a link to your video, if one exists, on the other products you have on the table and/or briefly show in each video, in the description?
This would be awesome and much appreciated

So, my question is does it really charge from USB-C or is it that the charging port is USB-C, but it charges from USB-A? Electronically, there is a huge difference and I'm finding more devices that have the C charging port but can't actually charge from USB-C.

    • @gideonstactical

    • @davidhawkins847
      @davidhawkins847 2 місяці тому

      @@gideonstactical
Yes. Are you familiar with the electrical differences between USB-A and USB-C? A-Type has a 2.4A/5v limit which means the wattage is limited. As of right now C-Type is pushing 100+watts in capability. There are electronics out there that have been upgraded to USE the USB-C port for connection but cannot actually charge USB-C to USB-C. They will only charge from a USB-A. while this does help reduce the cables you carry around, it means you MUST HAVE A USB-A TO USB-C cable or adapter available to charge the device and a USB-A charging source. Of the devices I've run into, if you plug it into an actual USB-C charger it will not start charging. I don't know if the wattage on the charger matters, but I don't carry low watt chargers on me since you need the wattage to take advantage of speed charging things like phones. So all of mine are 30+watts output.
If you haven't already run into this problem, you probably will soon as cheaper electronics change the port but not the charging logic.
