There are more things you can do.. this is just the basics.. but usually have a pretty good running car when you are done. If you start heading to the club.. you may have to tweak a bit more..
Saturday Morning Two Lines Coffee Time - And then there were three...I loved both BRE 510's so much had to try one of the Fords. I am having so much fun running the Revo's. I think in part is because they are so different they anything else I own or have have run. Yes, as you and DaFingers commented, the gear mesh on all three cars needed to be fine tuned and it took several attempts to be happy with the mesh setting. Thank you Marty, this is one of your BEST tuning videos to date! Thank you! - P.S. - LOL, I love Fin in the background part way through.
I did have to shim both 510's bodies for tire rub with my sets of Quick Slicks. I also needed front shim for the no.35 to keep the air dam from rubbing on the track. They have been so much fun to run!
Finn is a great track dog!! 😂 he is right beside me enjoying some coffee… well I am enjoying coffee.. he is enjoying the pets. Thanks Chris! I have one of the alignment tools for you, the next time you stop by.
I’m still mystified at the popularity of these cars 😂 but you’ve done a great service for those who have bought them and are running them. Nice work, Marty! 👍
@@twolinesslotcarshey Marty 🤠 greetings from Colorado. Maybe I can clarify somewhat about the 510(take it with a grain of salt since my brother raced and built several). Thousands of these were raced in the SCCA in the '70's. They were known as the "poor man's bimmer"and,(wait for it) his drove like a slot car 😅✌️
that's cool Marty, did the tire rub issue within the community get resolved on the 510? it sure is an mazing looking car for sure, I hope Scalextric comes out with one
G'day Marty, I've had a scaly which on the first lap or two had the nylon pinion gear shed all its teeth was an easy fix but just goes to show all brands have bad days, great post Marty as always...
Another top video Marty,i enjoy your broadcasts alot thank you.I also totally agree with you regarding enjoyment of racing as opposed to just seeking all out speed.I enjoy racing, but standing at my track just balls out for the love of the car and the hobby, beats all else.
This should be good. Surprised by how the gear mesh was on that. Yah your are able to rectify that, but should not be that far off . Granted it happens.. but.
Marty- Great video as always! Question- Having trouble finding the correct size for the motor mounting screws on the bottom of the chassis? What size tool did you use to tighten with? - thanks!
So I use a concoction of Grease and Graphite... Mr. Albright shared the idea with me.. i like it. works great.. if you have to run in the gears and they are rough.. I use some polish..toothpaste, wheel polish, rubbing compound or lapping compound.
Tom, I changed sensors and have introduced new problems 😂 but ghost laps have been controlled for the most part in one app, still trouble shooting in another app. I have a list of things to try.. more to come.
Like Revoslot bought my first white kit which was the Datsun, really struggling to put it together no instructions at all w I’ll never buy another white kit 😢
Thomas.. did my tuning video help at all? From an assembly stand point? I think there is an assumption with most white kits that the buyer has built slot cars before. If I can help, let me know.
7.36 you've missed a very important thing that must be done. Your Alignment Tool must be square to the Centre line of the Car. Find the Centre Line of the Chassis and scribe a Dot at each end of the chassis. Scribe a Centre Line on your Set Up Plate and position the new chassis marks with that. Insert the Alignment tool and square it up. You don't want the Axle 'crabbing'. Once you do that along with the other things you do tell us just how much faster you went........ Scotty
Very nice Marty. This has been a great look at Revo maintenance and prep for the track. Im' really liking the quality that Revo produces. I have 2 Revo Toyota's on the way! Red and white and yellow and green!
Completely unacceptable, I haven't set mine up yet. I am honestly thinking about returning it. A car should run out the box. Otherwise save money and get the white kit.
@@twolinesslotcars Not even close, if it were a kit then I would expect it to be ready to go and need setting up but not when I pay full whack for a complete car. For your axle holders to not be level is crazy. Pointless selling it as a whole car. I will be making a video.
This cars are not perfect to a thousand of an inch. They do require to be tuned. You will get more cars that need tuning than cars that don't. This cars might be a bit much for you. Since they are a turners car. Some love to tune like me and others dispice to tune and that's O.K. the reason the uprights are not perfect is due to machining tolerance all you need to do is losse to screws and add blue lock tight to keep them in the chassis. I am really sorry the car didn't meet your expectations.
@@gerardocampos7138I have built up Revos from white kits, it was listed as an RTR car. I don't mind setting cars up, it was just something I didn't expect. Revo need to make it clear that their cars need setting up. A sticker on the box or warning of this would be helpful.
Great video, Marty! This is what the hobby is all about! Love the Revos!
Thanks DNA!
Great video review of the Datsun 510 Marty good job you cover all the important aspects of tuning and running laps thanks thumbs up!!!
Thanks Simon!
Love the video, I need to take more time doing some tuning with my Revo's.
But then again, I don't do any real racing....
Thanks Dave! You are always welcome to race with us some time!
Thanks for taking your time to show this, Marty. These 510's are getting more attention than the Shadow.
Crazy how excited the market is for these little cars. Such a fun drive.
Marty, great video. Nice to see the proper way to set up a new car. Now I know why mine are so slow.

Marty, I haven’t been able to find the alignment tool on Alan’s site.
Do you have a link by chance?😊

Awesome tutorial! Great for new guys like me and others !
If you have any questions.. let me know! Thanks!
I really learned a lot watching this video. Thanks.

They are a ton of fun Gene!
cool stuff Marty, It's crazy the 510 needs so much tuning.
Ted, you don’t have to do all of those things for a car that runs good, but a few extra things and you can take it from good to great!

They might be sold out.. I can’t find them on the website anymore..

The people who get upset about having to set the gear mesh are the people who usually buy cars where you can't adjust it 😉
Pretty easy for a car in transit from China, to distributor, to your track to go through some bumps and vibrations. Tuning is a fun part of the hobby.
I wish I could find the Datsun twin pack somewhere in North America (I'm in Canada). They all seem to be sold out EVERYWHERE !!!
Yes, they were popular. There is a second batch coming.. you can preorder at 132slotcar.com
