Scared feral kitten trusts a human for the first time

- New kittens arrived at the kitty house at the park. They are six siblings. 5 of them were super chill kittens but one of them was scared and hissy. On my watch, I can't let a kitten become a feral cat. So I did my part.

People but don't stick your finger infront of a feral cat specially when it's hissing. Calm it down with some food and then ease into it
One thing I can definitely appreciate about Turkish culture is that they're literally famous for having, and taking care of, so many stray cats. It's like a cultural tradition for the people there to feed and give affection to their local strays. Absolutely heartwarming. Good on ya Turkey!
Agreed. I believe Same goes for Japanese and Greek people.
@@GeorgeKLSAit’s a blessing
Idiot. Reaching your hand in there just makes a human hand like a threat.
Not to mention their family oriented culture.
LOL. So you don't know any history and nothing at all about Turkey. OK.
For everyone watching this: never approach a panicked kitten with your hand so close to its mouth.
I've been in this exact situation, saved a kitty that was very afraid, same age as this one, and it bite my finger so hard in a split second, that he actually severed my nerve and damaged my bone.
Took months to use my finger again, and I was in constant sharp pain for the whole recovery duration...
I've had at least 30 kittens in my life (multiple female cats that got litters), and I really was unaware how strong their bite can be, and how sharp their teeth are. Makes you really realise that when they play fight with you, they're actually very gentle.
Anyway, dont approach your fingers to their mouth until their calmed down.
Yeah I was thinking they should have worn gloves because these babies don’t have vaccinations and you don’t want to catch rabies trying to do a good thing
Where you trying to grab a Cougar Cub?
@@alexcsr6450 I would have had the same reaction as you, until it happened to me.
I've been bitten by small and large cats my whole life, I enjoy playing fight with my cats even if my hand ends up scrached and bitten to blood, I don't mind it.
But man when that kitten bit my finger out of panick, I swear it was like I put my finger in an electrical outlet, I almost fell from the surprising pain. Turned out he severed my nerve and dented my bone.
It's been more than 6months now and I still feel like my finger is a bit weird.
About the kitten, it took a few days for him to not be afraid of me, and then he became the most lovely cat, sleeping against me every night, following me everywhere etc
Still very agressive/dominant with other cats tho
Bro you are so weak a baby cat could injure you that bad lmao

Seeing the scratchmarks on the guy's hand as he holds the kitten just shows how much he's devoted to helping those scared cats. Truly a blessing for these poor homeless animals.
He held his hand out directly in front of the kittens face on purpose and tapped her paw. He was asking for the scratches.
@@bluebirdoz9055 Getting a little scratched is just part of the process of training a feral kitten to trust people lol. They need to learn that your hand touching them doesn't equate to a threat. Most people at shelters and facilities wear gloves while doing it.
@coolguyjki they're also much smarter than this person and know not to wave their hands in front of a scared feral kittens face. That is not how you teach them touch is a good thing. They only see a giant in front of them with a huge hand waving around. That is not only making the kitten more scared but also putting yourself at risk of hospitalisation from an infection. Shelters and foster carers catch the kittens, take them to a vet to be neutered and vaccinated. The way they slowly tame them is wrapping the kitten in a towel or blanket like a burrito and holding them, gently patting their head without risking getting clawed.
They don’t even hurt btw. Those claws are pretty sharp but it’s definitely not gonna hurt him.
@@bluebirdoz9055you're conditioning the animal to normal treatment and domestication. It is normal. Yes, there are *better* ways to do it, but this is how we've been domesticating animals for thousands of years. I don't know how you can watch this and be negative. It's beautiful.

@@spercoco Maybe not this person, but alot of channels do exactly what was said unfortunately, you have creators exposing these "saving animals" all over the place. This is exactly what I love so much about cats. You have to earn their trust. Finally getting a cat to trust you is such a rewarding feeling.

The first kitten has one of the cutest faces. I would adopt him in a heartbeat.
It was a girl
This reminds me of meeting my kitty. She was only partly feral, afraid of people but with some signs she had been exposed to them before. I Had to get her out from under a bed; she had come inside to share food with our family cat. Then I sat with her in a small room until she was okay with me sitting there, and let me open cupboards for her.
It was two months before she stopped pretending she wasn't following me around my apartment on purpose. Now we've had almost six years together and she is curled up on my desk.

I've seen hiss but "spit" from kitten is rare -- good thing it didn't scare you away! You're brave. ♡
It's amazing how wild they become so quickly if not exposed to humans.
Spitting is not uncommon if you just stuck your hand in the face of a stressed kitten. This person could've fed it and let the kitten get used to their presence instead of scaring it like that and he would've caused the poor kitten much less stress. But I guess that gets less views than scaring the animal so you can film it attacking your hand.
