Wow, that Cerulean Blue is very intense! I wasn't expecting that! Nice review of these paints! That Perm. Violet made me seriously crave Grape soda! lol! :)
Yes, these are all a little mysterious. Nonetheless, in the end they really remind me of Mijello Mission Gold. Really saturated color and they use a very sticky binder, they haven't completely dried yet, I'm assuming it'll take a week in this humidity.
Their Cer.Blue is very intense because it's ... not Cer.Blue! It's Phthalo Blue(grn. shade), PB15:3 That's always very intense. Lesson: Companies can call their colours whatever they want; our only defence is to get to know the pigments. Start here: www.handprint.com/HP/WCL/palette1.html
Oh, this is hilarious: I was just checking out their latest colours, and now they actually have a Phthalo Blue (red shade). Its pigment? PB29!! Which is Ultramarine! :^D! So I went to look at their Ultramarine - praying that it, in turn, was made of PB15 (Phthalo Blue), just so I could LMAO. :^> I'm so disappointed, their U.M. is made of the right pigment, it too is PB29 - what a missed comedic opportunity. :^>
Then I consider myself fortunate I 'mistakenly' got the Professional set, thinking it was their high-end version. :D I do like color intensity, but the different is not so much, and the fugitiveness of the colors is definitely not worth it.
Yes it's pretty similar. I haven't done a painting with these yet, but when I do I'll either do a time lapse here or instagram. They do feel luxurious though, I really understated that.
Awesome, that is the set I wanted, but I opted for the smaller set to try them out. The price per tube was the same. I am looking forward to doing a piece with them soon! These are really smooth, very enjoyable to paint with.
I have not many asian watercolors, but am always curious about them and want to try out some. Thanks for the review! It really helps to decide which set to get.
Thank you for the review! I'm about to buy these, as soon as my money comes in! I'll get the 32 set and later on I would love the PASS Hybrid since I'm really getting into gouache. I liked the selection of pigments, like the indigo PB66 i've never seen before. I noticed your brush has "grooves" in the handle, it'd be helpful to try holding my brush with less control. Do you mind teling what brand/model it is ?
Cerulean blue looks like Phthalo Blue RS, thank you for this swatching video! have PWC Peacock Blue myself and it has exact same hue to Phthalo Blue GS by Daniel Smith, except lighter, which I actually prefer using.
I tossed up between the cheaper 30 set and the mission golds. In the end I bought the missions which are really nice and vibrant. I am going to light test them soon. Thanks for sharing your review :)
Ah! You got the pwc?! I wanted to try these ones! I have the set of “professional” ones and was planning on getting a primary set of the PWC to do a direct comparison review sort of thing but never got around to it. =>.
You're right, the saving grace of these, is that they are incredibly smooth. You'd have to try them to feel the difference. I just wanted to keep painting the whole surface of the Canson paper with these. Imagine how they'd look on better paper! :)
Hey, I just noticed: the PWC Burnt Sienna (PR101) looks like a muted version of Chinese Orange, from your Sennelier test pack vid. At least on video, it's at just about the same angle on the colour wheel.
@@MalamikArt If it's OK ti suggest. Can you please swatch it by starting with the pigment then lighten it out with clear water so we can see how well blends with water... And maybe one direction please! Your swatching got me so crazy 😢😭 i am soooo sorry
What strange naming choices. There are 4 'reds' that contain Alizarin Crimson PR83: Crimson Lake, Brown Madder, Rose Madder, and Carmine. But the one tube that's actually _called_ Alizarin Crimson is made of PR23! Who are the folks in charge, at this company?? And did they not get the memo that PR83's a fugitive pigment? And all those pigments that no one has ever heard of. (Plenty more of those that aren't in this set. ) Their lightfastness _may_ be ok, but I'm not going to buy them just to find out. However, I'll say this about PWC: If you know your pigments, and cherrypick only the tubes that you trust to be lightfast, you can get some perfectly good pro paints for at least 1/3 less than other artist-quality brands. I have Perm Red Light PR209, Viridian Hue (PhthaloGrn blue shade) PG7, Greenish Ylw PY129, Shadow Grn (Perylene Grn)PBk31, LightRed PR101, and Ylw Ochre PY42, and they're all perfectly good examples of the pigments. I'll probably pick up Umber (not Raw or Burnt) PBr7 soon - a very cool earth, cooler even than D.S. German Greenish Umber.
Thanks for their review! My favorite art store sells these paints open stock so I'm able to choose more lightfast colors, and I really love working with these, they're very vibrant.

I'll wait for it. :D
I've had my eye on these paints for a while, thank you for doing a great review on them! (Yayy new paint! :) )
They're nice, I just wish I had known about the lightfastness, but I'll put some in the window to see what's up, soon.
Malamik Art yeah, the light fastness issue is a bit discouraging , please let us know what your light fastness tests show about these paints.
I have the 32 set and I like working with them. Nice job with this review very helpful thank you.

Different pigment and finer granulation :)
Yeah, the Senn uses 3, I see. So it's the PWC that's ground finer, you're saying?
I am. SO STRESSED BY THE WAY SHE SWATCHES 😭
sandishee sama I’m sorry this stresses you out. Please let me know how you would prefer seeing watercolors painted out?

@@Sandishee Haha it's okay, I understand now. Sure, this is something I would love to do. :)
Oh a new watercolor set! I haven't seen this before! Thanks for sharing, also may I ask what brush you're using?
This is one of 3, a set I bought, they're synthetic. I did a review on them here a little while back. :)
Just seeing your channel, Great video by the way

Yes the consistency makes them extremely pleasurable to use. So I would do as you suggested and pick up a trusted bunch. :)

Nice
waaaaaiiiiiit a minute, I thought you were done buying stuff for a while... lol
Teehee! WELL, I bought these in my last haul in February. So no cheating, just have kept these under the radar for a while. XD
