Live in the area and still looking for the line fire. Since when do blogs pop up discussing the “potentials” of a wild fire given that’s apparently so great they gave it a name. YOU GUYS ARE GLOWING! Glow worms!!!
Thank you for this channel and your insights. Really made a huge difference understanding the Line Fire of which I am personally experiencing in real time.
You guys are so bumming me out. This all feels so dire and my biggest dread is that I believe everything that you are saying. I had to evacuate my home in the Running Springs' community of Arrowbear and a few miracles have happened that has saved our town, or so it seems. I pray for your best case scenarios - and appreciate your cold sober knowledge.
Welcome Don Boursier. Thanks Z for bringing him on. Busy days. Thank you Don for your service and watch duty in a very difficult area. People forget the human side of fire. Your graphics are highly informative and thought provoking. You have earned a well deserved break on a nice cool boat. 👋👱♀️🐸
I appreciate you putting this together, Much more helpful than any of the other sites that we are forced to use to figure out the probability's. One tip for you is to move the graphics less. Its hard to follow the narrative on the graphic when its moving so much. Thanks for what you do
I live in Big Bear, and while this is quite sobering, I much prefer to have more information and understanding, not less. At least now I feel I have a decent grasp concerning what is going on, affecting factors, and possible scenarios. Many thanks.
@@bernecomp I'm listening to this science and it makes me cry I live in big bear.... I'll be fine but there's some beautiful draft horses on the North sure I'm gonna make sure they see this video.
@@barbaratucker4441 I hope you do because as you noticed based on this video those north of the lake are definitely most at risk. I am mostly packed up and if it looks like the fire is moving agressively east I am going Order or not. Unfortunately for BB, it looks like tomorrow may be shaping up exactly as Don Boursier predicted.
Take a look at the Radford maps. The camps are highlighted there. As are a few dozer lines and proposed dozer lines west of Radford. Some fuels work was done around the Bear and Santa Ana convergence as well. Great seeing Tim and Don on. Both mentors of mine.
QUESTION: I have friends in and around this fire. So, I am curious, when I see the warnings to evacuate Mountain Home Village and Forest Falls, as well as Angelus Oaks, but then the updated fire map hasn't moved. Please explain why the outline doesn't move but there's evacuation Orders.
This is concerning about the north shore being vulnerable, but understanding that terrain, it makes sense. This was a very informative discussion and I do appreciate it very much.
california needs to do more prescribed burns. its ultimately more damaging to the environment when fires burn out of control for weeks/months rather than being controlled and the fallout mitigated. last year was an unusually wet year and much more could have been done during those ideal conditions.
Last night there was a documentary on earth x channel.... It was called America's forest fires the real story.... It was really eye opener about how we need to manage our forests.... We can do this now we can do better Then scorched Earth.
Great commentary. The fire breaks went away in the seventies due to the environmentalists' tree huggers. Currently as of 9:00 PDT Lake Arrowhead and Big Bear have lazy winds out of the SW.
Welcome Don. The area dujour to hopefully extend efforts to save is a wonderful stand of old growth slightly north and west of Keller Peak, dispersed amongst boulders. I think it's upper Dry Creek(?) Introduced by a dear friend/home/cabin owner and mistletoe warrior at Arrowbear. Classic San B high elevation OG. There's just some pumpkins in there!
Watch Duty currently has Crestline in a level 2 evaluation status. I think this is because the roads will be so congested when everyone tries to leave, that they want to encourage people to leave well before they get cut off. But the fire still has a ways to go to reach the Rim of the World Highway near Lake Arrowhead. But can you imagine everyone from Lake Arrowhead and west of there trying to get down 18 at once?
So would it be easier to hold off the fire from going to lake arrowhead than it will be to stop it from getting to big bear? I just haven’t seen many helicopters working on the right side of the fire and from the cams it looks like it’s really flaring up towards the cedar glen area.
Every mega wildland fire has potential to become a terrible tragedy. The lack of access, water, high winds and high heat are always present to make the odds against the fire not becoming a mega disaster. CA has a lot of people living inside its borders and many live deep amongst the wildland and when Mother Nature decides to take revenge, she will win every time. CA has a great Fire protection system for fighting these big wild land fires. The men and women involved are well trained and experienced and they have some of the best equipment available. Mother Nature has tools man will have a hard time defeating. There will always be major losses but it is not because the Firefighters messed up, its because they become overwhelmed by the nature of the beast they are fighting.
I just bought a home in big bear. Praying everyone stays safe. I really don’t think it will make it there but the weather is unpredictable and I think that’s really going to be the determining factor.
This is the #1 reason I left California last year after living there for 48 years. I got sick and tired of dealing with the fires when I lived in Northern California. I don't know how people can continue to live like this, because year after year more and more fires continue to burn out of control all over California!😢😢
So many people in the comments of the news channels videos seem to care more about the “animals homes” and the wildlife than they do about the people, it’s insane.
The El Dorado fire licked right up to Loch Leven (backfire maybe?). Mountain Home Creek (mostly) did not burn. Another place of old growth-even an 8 ft Diameter Sequoia in the canyon-feet wet!
kinda ok...Manzanita Flats Road has stopped NE advance........so far.......hope you talk bout warehouse NOAA phenomenon has stopped the Santa Ana drainage May grey/June gloom; there is (WAS) forest at 2500' on north-facing slopes....backfiring has created deaths on El Dorado and every major fire expansion...if firefighters are bored, send em home......
Thank you for these videos. I am a BB resident and find these very informative. Please keep them coming. Thank you. 😊
Don your graphics are highly informative and thought provoking. Should become highly publicized throughout mountain communities.👋👱♀️🐸
I live in Big Bear. This was an excellent overview. Thank you both.
I’m literally so happy you’re posting again!!!

Thank you for great info not getting much info from local news.
Thanks!
Thank you for explaining this fire to us

If you can about how far would you say the fire is from Big Bear?

i was thinking of moving to big bear to escape the hepatitis C fires in los angeles...
@@nachojesus6460 ha ha that’s funny

High quality information thank you
Awsome guest ! TY
This is the best I have found to track the fire.
Excellent information
Thanks for all of that info!!! I feel for those listening in big bear. 🐻
Cool information, thanks guys!
Don Boursier is the best!!! This band geek loves this guy!!

The fire is on the east side of the Santa Ana River isn't it? So not too far away combined with some unpredictable winds coming.
thank you for the information. can you please elaborate on forest falls more if you can?

👍 thx for info.

We need to "rake the forest" more.
Its burning exactly where he said it would up the canyon to Big Bear.
We're on the Northwest end of crestline and are in a evacuation warning ? Do you think it will head this way ?

My kids gathered up there animals and came down to the low desert, they live in big bear but its kinda risky to stay .
I left last night too not worth staying
Are there any places along the rim of the world highway or the Keller Peak Ridge or near the Big Bear Lake dam where firing operations makes sense?
Open the dam
So much of our local mountains are gone. So sad. What will be left?
So would it be easier to hold off the fire from going to lake arrowhead than it will be to stop it from getting to big bear?

Don't make me cry again. Barb in BBC I know my house will be fine but the forest under article circle

Would you mind speaking on Davis fire?
Lived in California in the inland empire and this is not the first time this has happened
Zeke-Don, well done🎉
I live in the desert just below big bear, thank you for this amazing information ♥️♥️♥️
Imagine drones that can be used to take the fire hose from the trucks up to places the fighters can't go?
