    I do not know WHY this girl isn't more widely recognised for her talent. She's amazing! I know why... She doesn't fit the 'norm' and she does her own thing. Way to go, Lalah! Oh, lord! Just got a taste of Jason. Vybe? No wonder you couldn't keep the camera still! And that lady? I'm speechless! Then Musiq Soulchild! I'm surprised you managed to keep it together for as long as you did. Well done. Very entertaining.

    Tony Scruggs is just remarkable but we all know if you're born of a certain generation, that her years long cultivated talent, even with a her college degree and storied background vocal history, is not what cosumers actually buy. Live performances are on the top end of the performance spectrum and are priced at a premium for a limited specialized demographic. The music industry has long, long, long, long ago sent out the memo that they want blue-eyed soul derivitives over anything Black and original. Non-Black artists are propped and posed to capture the light of fame/fortune over their Black counterparts despite their lack of talent because the history of Black music creation and mastery has been hidden. A deservedly praised and equally gifted vocalist of the European persuasion, given this absence of music history, would be seen to have single-handedly created an entire musical genre in this current vaccume. Young Black and non-Black consumers alike now wrongly inflate the value of blue-eyed swagger negating the overt cultural dominance of Black peoples creation. Hence, the extensive list of newbies that look white but sound Black, dance Black, dress Black but Blacks in the same industry seem to have a limited shelf-life and less long standing money making opportunities. We love Tony Scruggs but even if she were given a "coveted" record contract, the culture we've fostered allowing the degradation of ALL of our art forms would not have her gifts appropriately celebrated worldwide. We adore Tony Scruggs, we love you.

    What do these youngsters know about real music and true vocalists? Beyonce who? Modern R&B what?

    • @ChurchKween
      @ChurchKween 10 років тому +3

      I think it's incredible how people are always bringing Ms. Knowles' name as if she's not a 17 time GRAMMY winning artist. She's the only artist to infuse big vocals with big pop records and be able to perform the EXTREMELY well all while dancing something no artist is doing. EACH ONE of these vocalists are talented as well but there is NO reason to discredit Beyonce in the process. As a member of the black community you should be glad a black woman is on top. But I guess this is why we're always held back because we can't take the time out to acknowledge excellence in our own community. Have a blessed day Mr. Ross.

    • @grumblemarv
      @grumblemarv 10 років тому +9

      Get off it. I don't care if she won 1700 Grammy's. That doesn't mean she can match up to real talent like this. The "pop" crap that shes pushed out and helped usher in is one of the reasons music is the garbage that it is. It's pretty much killed real R&B. Does she have a little skills? I guess so. But she just isn't in the caliber that these elite vocalists are. Get the point? I know vocalists without record deals that can't catch a break because they aren't marketable or aren't willing to sexualize everything or sell out to make that money. Get a grip on reality. And that you think Ms. Knowles is "as talented" in any way shape and form as ANY of these artists, then I guess you must have sipped the Kool-Aid.

    • @ChurchKween
      @ChurchKween 10 років тому +1

      Marc Anthony Ross You're a pathetic bitter old man. Women are allowed to own their sexuality. Why can they not be sexual beings if they wish? You're misogynistic too?! Cool. But hey... I'll let you be great. Meanwhile, I will continue to appreciate the art form that is music no matter what genre it is or the era it comes from. We will agree to disagree. Have a blessed day sir.

    • @grumblemarv
      @grumblemarv 10 років тому +2

      Wow. Name calling. How mature. All I'm saying is if THAT'S how you have to sell records then please don't try to call yourself talented.

    • @ChurchKween
      @ChurchKween 10 років тому +1

      Marc Anthony Ross I'm not name calling if it's the truth. Don't you have a nap to take? Go play golf. Take your diabetes medication. I've already told you to go have a blessed day. And mind you, Ms. Knowles dropped an album with no notice, no lead single, or video. So this "sex sales" argument is invalid. Just her name alone sold 800,000+ in 3 days. She's been in this industry since she was 15. I don't think she's worried about your support or anyone else's. NOW. GOOD DAY. Spent your day debating with an 18 year old who appreciates all art forms and loves Lalah Hathaway. "What do these youngsters know about real music and true vocalists?" A lot. Now bye.

    Nowhere near as deep, but yeah, still baritonish. His voice used to be higher, but with age, and singing for years, the vocal cords thicken and become looser, adding depth to the lower register.
