I was raised in an Irish family and that took it one step further! Our turkey was stuffed with a potato stuffing! So you had candy sweet, mashed and the stuffing! I continued to make that as long as my parents were alive!
Absolutely love when Nicole gives tutorials. I’ve been making mashed potatoes for decades and never thought of heating the milk first. Also didn’t realize it was the red potatoes that made ours gummy. (Cheesecake Factory restaurant uses red to make theirs. 🤔) I’ll stick to my favorite Yukon Gold from now on.
I love Nicole’s episodes! Please bring us more sides for the holidays...green beans, brussel sprouts, sweet potato casserole, stuffing, etc. Thanks for helping us get through holiday season!❤️
Red is the best for roasting in my opinion. I usually mix gold and red, and my family all made the observation that, even though they were seasoned the same, the red hands down tasted better. The skin is way more flavorful.
Yes could you please explain how, when you freeze a head of cabbage over night, it's just as good or better then broiled cabbage. Oh yes I let it thaw, no need for a mess. I can make simple cabbage rolls. I love having you to watch and learn.
I would say that not pricking a potato for baking you got lucky. My one experience with not pricking resulted in potato explosions. It is amazingly hard to clean an oven splattered in potato. No pricking = steam bombs.
A few of these recipes are basically family traditions. No one can really tell me how to make mashed potatoes or potato salad. I make it how my mom made it and she taught me how HER mother made it. /shrug
Many years ago I stuck the tip of a knife in a baked potato to see if it was done. I thought I had pierced them all, but obviously I hadn't. The potato blew up like I had popped a balloon. I had small red burns all over my face for Thanksgiving 😢

I'm a pretty good cook, but I learn so many things to improve my game with your instructions.

Pro tip: Use heavy whipping cream instead of milk. Also use twice the amount of butter.
I just love love your videos!!!! You are one of my favorite people to watch.

I had one blow up in the oven made a big mess. Never again.
@@bettywitte8847 I still bake then, but they have so many holes, they look like someone used them for a voodoo doll.
She doesn’t say the ingredients in the potato salad or the augratin how do you subscribe to that
My daughter’s name is Nicole .
My sister put some potatoes directly on the oven rack without poking holes and they exploded. That was a huge mess
You didn’t say what you put on your augratin potato
Last comment 😂😂😂😂🤣🤣
Why not give out your potato salad recipe?
Ii use a masher because I really don't like to wash the necessary dishes!! Thanx for this video!!
But then again I don’t need to know I do this with my eyes closed
Lazy cook. Use a ricer. The end result is much better.

This is bad. Uncharismatic lady. Says caramelization instead of maillard.
