1997 THROWBACK: "C. DELORES TUCKER GOES OFF ON MAKAVELI, INTERSCOPE, AND MARILYN MANSON"

- C. DeLores Tucker has a complex legacy. Some remember her as the renowned civil rights activist and politician who marched alongside Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in the 1960s and helped advance women’s and voting rights.
Others remember her as the woman who made it her personal mission to eradicate gangsta rap and drew ire from hip-hop legends like Tupac Shakur and Snoop Dogg, as well as Death Row Records founder Suge Knight, in the 1990s.
Whether one remembers Tucker as the former or the latter largely depends on what generation they were born. However, both descriptions are true of the woman who was unafraid to fight for what she thought was right, regardless of the consequences.

C Delores Tucker WAS RIGHT THE WHOLE TIME!!!! May she Rest in Peace 😢
She was definitely right . This music eventually became a stage 4 cancer
No she wasn't she got caught trying to profit off Hip-Hop distribution through her to control it Total contradiction from her beginning speech @ the White House🤷🏾♂️👀👌🏾✅
Tupac is known worldwide 28 years after his death. C Delores Tucker is not that well known out America
@@gokuparaguaio1319it's about the message, not the messenger!
@@gokuparaguaio1319 him being known and not her is not the compliment you think it is
black america owes this beautiful woman an apology
We should've listened to Her rather than PAC...🤔
Yeah ok Mac 😂🤣😅
💯
Pac was never against her until he went to Death Row Records. It was Suge Knight who turn Pac against her.
Seeing how things are now she was right
mad respect for her...she wanted Black people to be dignified, live in dignity, and wanted to protect children from degradation. She was right...I agreed with her back then, and I still do. Look at where things are now in this country...smh
I understand her passion. 27 yrs later. This was about PARENTING not music.
It's both.
How is it about parenting when the very moral and spiritual fabric of a people was under attack.
Nothing is by accident social engineering
I was 2 years old back in 97
Just turned 18.

This Shero Of Mine The Late Great Dr C Delores Tucker. I am a FAN of Your Courage. I pray Your Family is well. Love You Auntie
I remember Pac called this woman everything but a child of God. A lot of us thought it was cool, I'm so happy the creator has kept me here long enough to repent.
Bruh!! I sincerely apologize Mrs. C Delores Tucker. Granted I was only 13 but still
Pac definitely went in on her but he did not go in like you are saying - I just wish they could have sat down together and spoke - Pac was bringing awareness but she just couldn't see through the drugs, curse words, and negativity - (and I never remember Pac or Snoop talking about killing your parents) - so if we are going to be 100 then dont tell lies just to help prove your point - just like she couldn't see through the bad side of Pac's music, Pac couldn't see through the lies that this lady added with the truth - personally I hate a lier even when they are trying to prove a point - i respect Pac more because he didnt have to lie, or add lies to make her look bad
@christopherbrock8913 No Thanks.
@@creditorclass6513 i am sorry but a lie is a lie - folks trying to lie their way into heaven nowadays 🤔🤷🏾♂️
ALWAYS GREAT CONTENT HEZAKYA
She was right then and is right now even more so.
Classic! So is Pac's clever response lol😂
She was soooo right. I dont know how we are supposed to turn this around in our communities
great woman, she tried
💯💯💯
❤
She was wrong about Pac, and I didn't appreciate her accessement of the Michael Jackson situation.
Blah Blah Blah . And nothing changes as usual.
Apparently the Makaveli album was very offensive to C Delores Tucker... she did not want to say it but "Black Jesus" must have really offended her cause she believes Jesus was a European looking Nordic person.
Are you sure she wasn’t offended by the message of violence that the album perpetuated and the fact that the imagery of Jesus was associated with it? listen to Hail Mary does that sound like something that Jesus the Christ would co-sign?
I don't know what lyrics of Tupac's that she's referring to?
I guess she never listened to "Dear Mama."
Pac's godfather was Geronimo Pratt, for Christ's sake; he wasn't a gangbanger, or someone who would have gratuitously degraded women.
Guess you never listened to Hell Razor, Hail Mary, Hit em up, etc etc etc
Pac was from Mob Piru, all of his friends on Death-row were bloods, he died because he attacked a Crip, best believe he was gang banging.
Sister was Katt before Katt
What children are she talking about...one color...only..she not talking about all children..sad...
Yeah, yeah that so wrong she ain't talking about all them children, only them one children ... sad ... it make me .. mad ,,,
🤦♂
When it comes down to it; it is the job and responsibility of the parents to monitor and to be involved with what media their children watch and listen to!
She faced so much criticism and hatred for speaking out about the detrimental effects this genre of “music” was having on the Black community. The music industry and many rappers launched vicious campaigns smearing her character. They tried to destroy her. But, she fought for what was right then and is right now! A true heroine.
@@petalflowers4765missing the point and message.
@@petalflowers4765Right on 💯
I saw on this channel how C Delores Tucker's words resonate w Black folk in these times NOW ( ? ) but Context is everything... in 1997 you would sworn there were 15 2pacs on the charts and even before then when she spoke amongst a gathering of Old Black folk in the Political Spectrum she Sounded so accurate But again these people were so eager to attack something KIDS had to formulate together to find solutions out their Problems But had no Resources, no solutions to help them escape the drugs, the crime, the fifth some of them had to endure... she Never Did this because she "Cared" there was always a Political Payoff for her at the end.. she never got with any record labels she went at the easiest target Interscope... Because pac was the only one who took her to task... we have to speak about the Full Perspectives of Ms Tucker...
bill adler in the cut like.... smh ...this is so accurate..
You 🧢 if you think there was no resources.
@@alphonsomorris793 what activities what’s resources that were in place for black kids under Reganomics at this time ? The crack epidemic took off right after the golden age and families were being ravaged at the time. Rap music became the voice of those kids at that time. Your gonna have to take your eyes off what she is saying that sounds good to you now cause of the music that’s out and place your head in that space right then.
Nahhhhhh she had pac wrong tho 💯
No df she didn’t... stop giving dudes that gave us the wrong things props
@@TheLightShow2 I'm not sure what interview or song she's referring to regarding Tupac. Maybe she's referring to an acting role not anything from his music. Tupac didn't advocate for violence or drug use. Even his more vulgar lyrics aren't advocating violence although not always flattering words to describe women.
@@LifestylewithAbbyI guess songs like Troublesome and Die/Dumpin don’t exist lol
@@SaintMTi there's a whole machine behind rap artists that perpetuated the garbage that we heard then and now. Many artists of today voluntarily push the envelope and produce obscene messages. However, I give Tupac grace because he advocated for unity and education. Calling for truces in LA between rival gangs, feeding hungry Black youth (just as his mother did as a former Black Panther), and calling out racial disparities in his music (and interviews) and the politicians who ignored the inequality. It's far more than what you do. Some of you can't tell us where your children's School Board Meeting is held and never written to your Governor nor organized a rally at City Hall. All you do is try to hold pop culture accountable rather than properly parent your child. How do these children get to these rap concerts and buy the music on iTunes... it's you.

Tucker seems to be in the wrong country. Did she realize this is the United States of America..????
All the censorship and canceling going on. That freedom of speech America is long gone
