I wouldn't call it a guilt; more of a duty. After defeating DIO him and the other Crusaders became like the overseers of stands; monitoring any issues related to them.

Dude went through 3 parts now on four. Such trauma and loss can push a man to his breaking point. All the stardust crusaders past except for him and joseph. Polnareff passed away but lives in the turtle now. I can only imagine what pain goes through his poor mind
